Glitzman: Good luck for the race...I'm doing bigger mileages on the bike each at the moment, hoping to join a club and get (more) 'serious' about cycling. Plus, it's now Spring here which is always nice.
You may find this interessting, my mate filmed it last week in College. Fun, but a bit weird. Don't ask.

Try the simple method of running your POD. Right output of the POD to the Effect return on the back of the amp. This works very well.Just make sure you have your output level on the POD turned down all the way or you will be in for a rude awakening. The POD takes over and bypasses the external controls of your amp & also the volume.I set the amp models to the tube pre-amp setting to get the true sound of tha amp you are using, then you can fidget all you want to make it unique.Have fun & let me know how it works.

Anyone ever notice that Eric Johnson looks at the neck of his guitar while he's playing more than anyone on the planet? I wonder if he's incredibly shy.

roo - Dog With Crown And Earring would be cool to hear at a Chickenfoot gig. I'd like Slick, actually.
But unfortunately, I think we'll get Satch Boogie and another song that Joe plays all the time. I wish he'd do something different, though, because this is such an unusual opportunity.
You know, I actually think it'd be really cool for Chickenfoot to do Up In Flames. It's not one of my favorites from that album, but Joe originally wrote that song for Planet Us so it's relevant.
Skippygirl - The guitar effect on Heart's Barracuda that you're probably thinking of is a flanger. Other songs with the effect include Rush's The Spirit Of Radio, Van Halen's Unchained, The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary, and Lenny Kravitz's Are You Gonna Go My Way...
slanshroom - Please pass along our good vibes to Cappy Steve and his wife...
hybes - Eric Johnson is pretty shy, yes, but more than that he's very focused. I think that's all it is. ;-)
gotta have Joe - It's nice to see you here again...what've you been up to lately?

Scubadaz - Couldn't say anything bad about EJ whatsoever. I was actually into his music before Joe's. I have always wished he put out more music through the 90's. I heard though that he might be coming out with something new later this year. Has anyone else heard that?
Do the Stu - Focused! I guess that could be a good reason. =)

Hey guys and gals, to all of you are trying to figure out what effect is being used on Heart's "Barracuda", I recall from an old Cream magazine article Howard Leese saying it was a DOD Phaser 490.
I used to own one back in the early 80's and using a strat through an old WASP amp ,TA-DAA,got the exact same sound. Hope that helps clear things up.

Webby, can you ban his sorry asssssssssssss?

OK, ok, you can't please all the people all the time I guess.
On a lighter note. I am playing with the satchurator and my marshall, and I've been trying to get the settings right on my Zoom for delay/ZNR/etc through the effects loop in parallel but I just cannot seem to "mellow" my tone. Should I be using compression as well do you think? or is using it in parallel in the effects loop going to defeat me, I wanted to try and keep some "dry" in there straight out of the satchurator.
I guess I better do some more research, I think from memory that Joe used to put all effects before the preamp and use the amp basically as a PA? Is that still the case?
Any awesome sound techs to help out?
Roo
PS. I need me a digitech whammy! I've been hooked on practicing searching and bamboo now and It just ain't workin much without that fun wobbly thing to stomp on! :)

turn ur fx loop to 10 max, marshalls are never 100% pure wet when there on 10 anyways, serial's the way to go anyways, the fx loop puts the effects inbetween the pre and power amp
put ur delay in the loop and sort the settings out there, not much need for comrpession, cant remember what Joe does, his setup changes each tour.... get your own sound! and get an old whammy if you want one, theres a few pedals out now that have a similar or better effect... or do what i do and use a ps-5 and a expression pedal, id go as far as saying its better than the whammy, + smaller neater more compact and runs of a simple 9v dc

Hey thanks Al, see you CAN be a productive member of society! :)
Cool tips, but I guess I'd be looking at a pedal off ebay, I've heard some whammys can have a massive lag.. Any in particular I should watch out for?
Any other suggestions on a good whammy pedal? I know the digitech had a few revisions? I was guessing the software was improving and reducing lag. Maybe I'm wrong?

I can alrite
and id still rather hear anything else other than summer song as an encore! i dont mind the satchurator i just think theres nicer overdrives out there, it is nicely harmonicly responsive though, thats one thing i dig,,, and i thought the fulldrive was better, jus cause joe likes it doesnt mean i gota like it! and im not that interested in the time machine either, :o dd-20 does me good
swizzle sticks to that, duno oto much on whammy's just know theres some shifty ones about... GETIT!!!! ...like i said i use a ps5 and love it, friend whammy is downstairs he was noodling away with it with some cool sounds i never heard before, but he also runs it beside a bass synth, its nuts whats goin on sometimes...
and best of luck steve, hope alls aok
im off to bed beds pre heatedand i got f all sleep last nite :)

roo:- I have to agree with Al on getting your own sound. My advice, plug your guitrar straight into your amp with NO effects, find a clean sound and a crunchy sound you are happy with at any volume(don't forget to experiment with the volume and tone controls on your guitar for variation). Then add just a little reverb or delay to give your sound some depth. Once you've played using that setup you'll start to develop you own sound, which you can then start adding any effect you like to enhance it. Hope that helps some.

The world would be a better palce if people listened to me more often
actually now that i think of it, in apollo 13, where kevin bacon makes the wrong calculations for the oxegyn supply, do you reckon they all would have been better off id they preserved air by holding one nostril shut each?
there would be loads then, i better email nasa, and yes i am aware of the typos in this message, im leaving them in though
