Chickencubefoot in McKennaPA?
Just got back from watching my son's band play a gig an hour from here. They kicked ass! I'm so proud of my boys! They were the third and last band to go on, and both the other bands stayed to watch them. They also had the most peeps show up on behalf of their band.
:-)
I'm 4 pages behind. I know somebody said something to me somewheres along the way. I'll catch up tomorrow...or the next day...

HEllo everyone- Just tracked down one of the guys who I was in a band with way back when. I was actually the local "guitar hero" at the small school I attended. One day I walked into a music store and heard someone wailing away on some Rush. I walked around the corner and there sat this kid on a barstool playing a Strat that was almost too big for him. I remember standing there watching for a while and when he finally took a break, I asked him if he wanted to play in a band . He said "sure". I said "cool,..I'm moving to drums"
He lives in Portland Or. and works for Pro Guitar Shops.
Anyway here he is demoing some of the Schecter guitars.

Pip - oh my bad, that was your ticket huh? Well hang on to it, and enjoy the show....don't forget I'll be sitting right next to you (er, virtually) on fatape's lap.
Do The Stu - well you nailed it, we are such a small market that the chances of a tour here are not as high as US, Europe etc. Nevertheless I remain hopeful. 22 million people isn't a huge economic force but who knows. I think one thing in Oz's favour is we apparently spend on sport and arts/music in a big way, and hence for a small population we do get the big acts and events despite being half way round the world from most of them. I mean, we get 100,000 people to a football match here in Melbourne on a regular basis, Pink sold out 14 concerts here at a venue that seats 15,000 (I think), you get the picture.

Cheese Thanks for the links, Ya know for once I hope there is no G3 tour this year, because that means CHICKENFOOT does a bigger tour.
Happy Saturday everyone, I'm going to Memphis to play some guitars while it's too wet to work.

Clarification on earlier post I thoght about what I said about being the local guitar here...Let me put that in perspective. It was a small school and they didn't get out much :-) . And I did not immediately switch to drums because we had a great drummer at the time. We had a lot of fun and this was in our high school days. Anyway we had some lineup changes after high school that not everyone could agree on and Scott went in another direction understandably. Sometimes immaturity gets in the way of things. Anyway Scott was /is a great guy and a great guitarist and has went on to experience much in the world of music and life.

Chickencube!! Yeeeeessssss!!!
Al--So yer gonna go see ZappaplaysZappa, eh? Wow, ya better be prepared to laugh. I hope they play A Mountain named Billy.....it will take you on a tour of Southern Cali and beyond yer wildest dreams!! Prepare for a flight out of Edwards Airforce Base! This and a CF concert for yer birthday.....absolutely amazing timing!! Do ya think Joe planned it that way?? ;-)
Michelle--Thanks for posting your experience with August Rush! My Steve and me watched the DVD last night from Netflix. Excellent! And I cried at the end (sentimentalist that I am).
Slans--I love the Yngwie song on Japanese Shamisen! What would Yngwie think? LOL!
Austin--Having listened to the Extremist only twice so far...I would say my favorite songs on there are Friends and Cryin' and I do like Summer Song, but would avoid listening to it when I'm driving because I would forget how fast I'm traveling and may get stopped by a cop! ;-) Thanks for the trippy trip pictures....I can tell it does ya good!
Guitarvibes--It's all yer fault I bought as many Satch CDs as I did!! lmao! As of yesterday, I now have 14 satch CDs! I also have 2 DVDs--Satch Tapes and JS Live in San Francisco! Am I almost bankrupt? Well......just have to cut back on food budget to bare basics! LOL! Worth every sacrifice, I say!
The CDs I just recently got are Joe Satriani (1997), Flying in a Blue Dream, Time Machine, Super Colossal, The Electric JS--An Anthology, and Satriani Live (2006).
Plus the eight I got earlier (Scottish or Irish accent..aaaahhh!)--Engines of Creation, Crystal Planet, SWTA, PSATMOR, Not of this World, G3 Live--Rockin' in the Free World, The Extremist and Strange Beautiful Music. I am also enjoying The Moody Blues digitally remastered Seventh Sojourn......I just love the song You and Me! The whole album is a treasure! I had it in vinyl at one time.......gave it away to the friend in Santa Cruz (went with us to ZappaPlaysZappa).
Tracie---Those interviews of Joe are keepers! Naturally Joe has to wear his JOE COOL shades......What a persona!! LOL... I wouldn't mind of he took them off and showed his expressive eyes........Just a suggestion, Joe....What say you?
T and Chelle--Do you think Joe met President Obama and his wife off the record somewhere in Europe? Maybe, he met Sarko and Carla......That would be so cool!! BTW...Sarko, Carla, President Obama and Michelle are on the front cover of today's Financial Times!! The wheels of progress are turning......slowly.......slowly. Need to be patient, I keep telling meself.
Skippygirl and Satriella---Hello to ya both and hope yer having a good weekend.
Campbell--Welcome back to T2J!
Hugs to ya all.

Just wanted to add.....Whoever suggested Joe hold a G3 with Joe Perry---excellent idea! I would also suggest re-inviting either Steve Vai or Paul Gilbert or Andy Timmons.....any of those guys together with Joe and Joe Perry would make a great G3!

I have been a long time fan.
Now that you are in your new band will there be any chance that you guys might ever do a NASCAR Race event?
I have been going to races here in Florida like Daytona and Homestead-Miami and any time during driver intros at either race I always here Surfing with the Alien or Summer Song playing. It would be great to see and hear you live at any of these locations. I would also like to see you on one of the late shows like Leno or Conan. Thanks for all of the great songs, Dave B

wannarock90 - Hi...welcome to the site. Joe's first guitar was actually a Hagstrom, the same brand you have.
Blue_Moon - Thanks for sharing that Hendrix cover. Daniel Lanois is very cool.
You were asleep so you won't remember, but when I drove you from SF to LA I was listening to a Dave Matthews Band live album that included a cover of one of his songs, The Maker. That song has been covered by a wide range of people over the years (from Phish to Emmylou Harris)...maybe you've heard it somewhere.
Igneousiceman - I took a picture of all the meals I ate on the trip, but I only posted a few of the pictures. I love doing goofy stuff like that.
I did on two trips to New York a few years ago, too (one to see the Dream Theater gig that was released as Score and another to visit a friend). You can see those pictures here and here, and the food here.
A bit off topic, yeah, but I think they're good pictures.
hybes - This photo from one of the trips I just mentioned was taken in Central Park...it's the same view DMB would have seen from the stage when they played the concert there in 2003 (yes, I know I'm a dork). Can you imagine that whole field full of people? Crazy...
campbell - I'm really interested to hear how the Rush tribute band is...let me know. Their music can get pretty difficult; I wonder how well tribute bands can pull it off.
GoldenGirl2 - I think Andy Timmons would fit in wonderfully with Satch and Joe Perry in a G3. If only...
...Austin...

GG2 - hey, how are you? All well here, my guitar practice time has shrunk but I am trying to get in every day a little session. Mostly focussing on trying to learn Ten Words on the Tele, I'm about 5 bars in and it is really a challenge for a beginner, lots of slides (mine sound VERY interesting ;0)) Luckily a really terrific French guy posted on youtoob a series of tutorials on how to play it so you can go note by note and follow what he is doing. At this rate I will have it nailed by around 2011.
We've sorted most of the setting up of our newly renovated house so I think I'll try to find a guitar teacher and start some lessons. I got the Hal Leonard book you recommended which is great, but I have to trasnscribe the musical notation into alpah notes which takes a lot of time.
Happy Sunday all T2Jers'!
