Satch's lunchtime playlist:
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
Aerosmith - Walk This Way
Montrose - Rock Candy
The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man (he didn't pick this one, though...it had to do with the Hot Lunch Timeline trivia question)
Chickenfoot songs played:
Oh Yeah
Down The Drain
Soap On A Rope
A lot of what Joe talked about is stuff we already know about, here on T2J.
Joe said the Coldplay lawsuit will take months to resolve, as I expected, and that it could be July before we hear anything else. He really is handling this with class...I wish Coldplay would do the same, instead of dragging it out.
Down The Drain grew out of messing around in the studio before recording what Joe thinks was My Kinda Girl (he can't remember).
Joe's response to the question from Guitarvibes about upcoming pedals was worded very carefully...haha. He did say we can probably figure out what's coming next. So roo, I wonder if he saw your post and our guesses...maybe we're right.
My question was something I've brought up here a few times...I was trying to find out what other songs Joe wrote during the Planet Us days. Up In Flames and Learning To Fall are the only two...LTF grew out of another song written back then, actually.
I also had a line in the email saying I knew Sammy had some of those songs on his recent solo album, and Neal Schon probably used a few in Soul Sirkus...but Seaweed didn't read that part.
Another question was about the art on his guitars, and Joe snuck a nice plug in: "The snake on that's on the cover of Guitar World?"
Joe said he might join Sammy in Cabo for his birthday bash (his birthday is 10/13; Sammy usually plays a week or so worth of shows leading up to that date).
Joe talked about all the gigs he's played at the Fillmore. He can't remember the first show he saw there, but he remembers the first he played (in 1988). They were recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, but there were technical problems so they recorded San Diego later on (these live tracks appear on the Dreaming #11 EP and the second disc of Time Machine).
Joe said favorite venue is Royal Albert Hall in London.
Joe on Jeff Beck - "Probably the greatest living guitarist out there today."
Joe said he's going to try to make the gig! I'll be there too, with Mahavishnu.
And at the end, Joe read the Hot Lunch Timeline question...it was like a history lesson! Hahaha...
Joe's favorite Rolling Stones gig was the last time they played at AT&T Park. He said Mick sounded great...even better than he did when Joe was in his band.
Joe says Chickenfoot calls the Guitar World cover picture the "android" cover because that's what Joe looks like. I have to say, I agree!
The fall tour will start about August 2, and will include about 30 cities.
That's about everything!
