I could think of no other guitarist I would rather jam with but Joe. That being said I have a great fondness for many guitarists. (Satch, Vai, Petrucci, EVH and too many more to name)
I have said it before. I love Eddie Van Halen's playing style and everything he has contributed to the history of music. To me it's not really a statement of who is better. I really think in Sam's case he is taking into consideration the ability to adapt to any melodic style.
Joe is a natural teacher. Out of many internet lessons I have viewed, Joe is the only guy that can lay it out so clearly that it's easy to understand.
Joe has such a huge bank of musical knowledge and given any situation, in any style of music is able to access this knowledge directly to the guitar extemporaneously faster than anyone or any machine.
Eddie jamming with Sammy Hagar or Placido Domingo is still going to sound like EVH.
Move Joe into the same two jams and I think most people would listen to the Satriani/ Domingo jam and say" I don't know who this guy is but Wow!" ( I don't know if Domingo fans say "Wow".)
I feel that is not taking anything away from Eddie.

The best guitar player? The best guitar player would the one who dominates all the guitar stuff beyond all the others : classical acoustic, folk acoustic, semi hollow electric, solid body electric, & synthetizer guitar.. this guitar player doesn't exist.
_________
One of the best eddie's jams is with Brian May:
Bluesbreaker part 1
Bluesbreaker part 2
Let me out
Yes, count that for..

Saturday for me now Skippy..Happy Sunday...Who won the Nascar race in Richmond Saturday night?...Boy if you were really a day ahead, I'd have all kinds of Aussie friends and be into American sports betting.
The race is on in about 14 hours I think. Do they show this race live in other parts of the world or is it tape delayed? I know Speed channel shows F1 1 live from wherever in the world.
I look for Chickenfoot to make an appearance at a NASCAR event this summer. Sam usually does. A Pre- Race Concert at say Talladega this Nov....I'll be there!!!
Al McKenna- Did you buy the full version of Beat Craft or use the free trial version? And if so, are there more kits available in the full version?
This computer recording thing is time consuming. Fun though. Just don't have much time right now.
Does anyone know of loops or singles that can be purchased for Digitech Jam Man? I did find one guy who had them for sale but I would like to listen to a variety of them and get some other input.
Enjoy the weekend T2Jers!!..more coffee later burly.

I used to be into the whole who is better thing during my youth, but later grew to understand and appreciate any worthwhile player for what they are. The greats, dead or living,( and I don't have to list them for any of you) are all contributors to music and history and each play an equally important part. Thank God we experienced them.

Saturday - my weekend to finally sleep in, and I'm up at 7:15 to make sure my son has what he needs to go take his SAT's. Good mama. He just left so I'm going back to bed. I was up half the night with a runny nose. I hate colds.
Happy Saturday!

Dear Slan.. as you know very well, oceans are vaster than aquariums & their spoon's comparison.
So, i don't care anymore.
Just really happy to see how Buddy Guy plays the crossroad until the end. Miles Davis was wrong. Blues is more than a slave's music. It's the root of no radix.

Just been dragged to a model exhibition (not quite kicking and screaming but almost) and it actually turned out to be ok. Sounds geeky I know, but there's something about engines and mechanical stuff that you just can't beat in my opinion. Guitars are still better though....I think :)
