Good morning. Trekking to Little Rock today to help out a friend. New strings ,drumsticks, picks and a set of drum keys from Guitar Center is on the agenda.
Hybes- for you and the other drummers out there. Mike Portnoy As I Am ( drums only) They shot this while recording the song. You used to be able to watch the version with the full band but the record company pulled it. This guy has so much brass around him it's unbelievable. I really like his little short flurries with the double bass. And I love to watch the end (around 7:10 for the all out Blitzkrieg). Mike is one of my heroes.
Pip- thanks for the vid. Those engines are awesome but it's the transmissions in these things that amaze me. I work on my own stuff so I know how intricate these things must be. Amazing.
Bon dia tot Skip. Getting cold there yet?

Skippygirl - I love working in newspapers, but those jobs are disappearing all the time. I really think I was born 20 years too late...haha. If I were born in like 1963 instead of 1983 I'd have had several years to work at a newspaper pre-internet, and (the best part) I could've seen a lot of my favorite classic rock bands in concert in their prime. ;-)
Back to journalism, though, I think the job I find will be either a company that is almost entirely internet-based (which, if it's journalism, won't pay well) or a business/corporate thing that has very little to do with journalism but needs someone who has those skills (which would pay quite well, but could be boring unless I find something awesome). In either case, I plan on doing some writing on my own, to hopefully move into that in a few years.
This might be more than you want to know, but oh well. :-)
D_O_M - Thanks for posting that Chickenfoot interview.
It's nice to hear Joe talk about the riff to Runnin' Out (it's in the newest podcast, as well). That riff is one of my favorites from the album...it's really different for Joe.
Also, it's good to hear him say that the band doesn't feel like they need to be covering stuff from their individual careers. While I think it'd be neat to hear them do some certain rare things, doing unrelated covers is a much better idea.
mikesb - Yeah, the crowd was way into Bad Motor Scooter and Highway Star at both CA shows. I think Highway Star had the best response though because it was a true surprise. A lot of people that I talked to at the gigs were expecting Sammy-related songs in the set (although probably Rock Candy or I Can't Drive 55, but the point still stands).
ChrisNoc - Hi...welcome to the site.
It's cool that you'll be in San Francisco, as it's a wonderful city, but Joe and Chickenfoot will be in Europe during that time...so there's no chance of a meeting.
hybes - I didn't get a Chickenfoot email like you're describing...I'd say it's probably spam or a virus.
GoldenGirl2 - Thanks for the info about the interview on KFOX. I looked around on their site, though, and don't see the interview anywhere. Can you let me know if/when it's posted?
Guitarvibes - If I had to pick one favorite moment on the Chickenfoot album, it'd probably be the introduction to Turnin' Left. So...good choice on your part. ;-)
Pip Satrini - I got your email, but I'm trying to avoid listening to solo Satch until after the Chickenfoot album comes out...so my response will take a while.
And yes, you're right about the meaning of S.M.F., although I'm weird and like to joke that he wrote the song about Sacramento International Airport.
I don't know who/what the song was written about. I'm not sure if I'm right, but I've always seen the "sick" as slang for "cool" (that works in American English...I'm not sure about English English though)...despite what Urban Dictionary will tell you.
Joe, can you give us any info?

burly - bon dia tot buddy (Roy you started a trend) - yep it is getting cold, we're all snuggled on the couch watching the first X-men movie - being Fri night we have kids here for sleepovers as always - sipping a beautiful South Australian viognier, Mr Skippy is about to go out for treats i.e. chocolate.
Would love to see a pic or vid of all your gear or even better, you playing it - maybe?
Roy - we just went through 11 months of that sh*t renovation noise I feel for you....
Do The Stu - too much info is never enough, I have several buddies in journalism here it's an area that fascinates me, lots of niches especially in the info age. Good luck with the search.

Pip Satrini&DoTheStu :- When Joe played at the Enmore theater in Sydney,I was fortunate enough to meet him and one of the main questions I asked him was about the title S.M.F. His exact words were "Sick Mother F#%@er".So there you have it from the man himself!!!

JSPhil: That's just a standard time window to do a 10mile time trial...obviously for keeping up appearances one has to get well within that on one's first attempt :) (some guys are doing 19 minute ones, just take a minute to work out the speeds involved...crazy!!!!) Oh, and when you find one of those beauties, just send me a cd of it revving :) absolutely insane noise that....
burly: Mike Portnoy sure can drum! (which is a huge understatement...I know :)

Guy goes to the Doc and says, "Doc i've got a sex problem" the Doc asks "Whats up" so the guy says "First of all its my Wife, she wakes me up at 5am for a 2 hour shag before i go to work, then on the train to work theres a blonde conductress who lets me off with paying my fare if i shag her, then when i get to work i have to shag my boss just so that i can keep my job, then i have to do it with my secretary so she dosen't blab about me and the boss, then its the waitress at our local restaurant so that she'll keep our table, the conductress on the train again on the way home, then my wife jumps on me again the minute i walk through the front door" quite taken aback the Doc says " So what exactly is your problem?" and the guy replies "It hurts when i wank"

NY Fillmore Irving Plaza *review*
Truly the most Amazing Rock show ive ever been to! Luckily i was the second person to enter the Venue, MariMariSRV was the first (ladies First..lol). As expected Joe was on top of his game , precision playing and great melodic solos. The band seem to be having the time of their life by seeing the consistent smiles being projected across the stage. The band was as tight as Chad's snare drum. Everyone except Joe were really interacting with the audience, understandably as Joes job does require the most precision and attention (we appreciate that Joe). I wont go into much more detail as the shows have been consistant and all reviews seem to be similiar. Joes mom was attending and though Joe asked Sammy to keep to clean..you know he had to intentionally slip...thats Rock n Roll..lol. The crowds reaction to every song clearly shows this bands bright future!
I recieved one of the many Chad Signature Drum Sticks as so did most around me...that guy is dangerous..lol. I though Joe ran out of Chickenfoot picks and used his regular/ buyable picks =( i got one but gave it some sweety next to me) , but it seems Joe doesnt use them...and i could have gotten, one if i knew, from the othersl Next show im on a misssion..lol
Also as VIP, I recieved the Chickenfoot 8ball, cool, and the VIP shirt which was pre-distressed (cooLer), Autographed poster numbered 412 of 500, and the announcement of the next show in NY and sale date..yes in 3 months ill be doing it again...but i doubt it could be better than this show was.
Thanks Joe & Chickenfoot for bringing your best to NY...it was noticed and appreciated.
Heres a few of many pics i took that are awwwweesome

I met up with MarimariSRV and she was next to me the whole time (1st row). It was great to have another big Joe fan with me during the show. Mainly because we notice things that most wont about Joe, like what guitars hes using etc. Thanks MariMariSRV for making the night so much fun.
And Joe did break out his HD Camera at the end.

Ya must be referring to young Alan Mc.....if not please correct me. Yeah, yeah.....he's spelling isn't always spot on and he admits it and he drinks too much alcohol (instead of soaking in a bathtub of it like me! LOL!) Who among us is perfect (except Joe--ha!ha!) please enlighten me if you know?
Still under a whole lot of posts and gotta be at work at Noon today!
