ZF- Thanks for the Elf links.
Roo and Skippy- Good evening. Yes we refer to them as simply beets and I have eaten them, just not my favorite. I found it strange to have beets on a burger but it may be wonderful. Right out of the can?
Austin- clean and sober has helped a lot of old rockers, especially Aerosmith. Check out more of Triumph. They added a different flavor to the scene back then. I didn't search really hard but couldn't find the studio versions of any of their songs.
Another 80s Canadian act. Zebra I like the progression with the 12 string. Is that Mixolydian? sounds like it. never tried to play it, help me out here Cosmic, Scuba, Al , anyone? And am I correct on Zebra being Canadian? The description in the vid says New Orleans..??

Skipping Girl - Over here we pickle beetroot in much the same manner as pickled onions (but sliced). Nice with salads but i'm not sure about with a burger. Having said that, many folk like pickled gherkins or dill on them. Personally, if I have a burger it's usually a double whopper cheese and bacon. I'd go hungry rather than eat Maccy D's.

Do The Stu:- Like I said,I'm not taking anything away from EVH in the least. I still get goose bumps whenever I hear the awesome style AND tone on the first Van Halen album. It was that album and Eddies tone that really made me get serious about playing, not to mention nearly every goddam kid that picked up a guitar for the next decade and a half!!! Michael Schenker probably had the biggest influence on me as far as melodic playing goes...and then along comes Yngwie F*@!ing Malmsteen!!!! I was in the middle of restringing my guitar at a friends place and he'd just gotten the first Rising Force album. I found it hard to concentrate on restringing and by the end of Black Star I'd only put two strings on and was just feeding the third string onto the machine head when Far Beyond The Sun started.......and I imeadiately put the guitar back in its case, still only half strung, looked at my freind and said "It's a waste of time.I quit!!!!" It was another year before I had the courage to pick up the guitar again and I've kept hard at it ever since(discovered the jigsaw was an awesome weapon along the way too!!!) I have many other favourite guitarist on my list(BIIIIG list it is,too) but if it wasn't for Eddie in the first place, I would never have discovered the joy of good, honest soulful guitar playing.Suffice to say Joe is and always will be my number one favourite!!!
So there you have it.

Do the Stu - When I say Revolutionary guitar player I really mean guitarists who have delivered something to the guitar world that perhaps no one else has...I don't consider Slash a revolutionary guitar player. I think he's great and he came up with one of the best riffs in history. But other than that and his hat he has really not given the guitar world anything they haven't heard or done. Les Paul would be on my list....he's no shredder but he figured out how to make a solid body guitar and revolutionized the sound. Hendrix for too many reasons to list...EVH for his sound and finger tapping. I also put Satch on that list because he broke away from the traditional band and made solo shredding his work. Eric Johnson and many others had tried it but Satch perfected it. David Gilmore would be on my list because of his sound and style. No mistakes Gilmore for anyone else. Jimmy Page certainly for too many things to list. Edge for sure because that distinctive sound. And of course Jazz and Blues has a couple that would easily qualify.
Now if you're just talking about great guitar players, then that list is very long of course. But it's all subject to opinion. That's why you look at a top 100 list of greatest rock guitarists and you see different names and different positions all over the list. It's certainly a great topic though. One that would have a lot of different opinions.

Sorry for the double post....computer went crazy.
Crappy Steve - Ya, I left a few off. I didn't give it enough thought to list them all. But Blackmore and Lommi are kind of both right there for me as far as heavy metal goes.

Hello friends I just got back from my Honeymoon trip with my wife. We went to Puerto Vallarta and stayed at the Las Palmas by the Sea Hotel.
It was a wonderful trip, the weather was very hot, I had to drink some margaritas and tequila to chill up, mi wife's pregnant so she only had pina colada and sodas lol....
gotta go, I have 10 pages to catch on..later

Cappy:Not ignored skipper Deep Purple Wasted Sunsets I posted this a long time ago but why not again again...one of the best guitar solos recorded imho...without Blackmores vision Malmsteen would be in real trouble, strat with scalloped frets "YJM got the idea from repairing lutes....yeah right", Marshall mk2 70,s heads with that stage esthetic dynamic..but credit t Yngwie, he took all that t the next level & beyond with style thanks t being born into a musical family that had respect for the great composers....kudos

Comic monkey - For me, Blackmore was the transition from hard rock to heavy metal.
Slan - Shudder known you'd come up with summat sensible! Early seventies Purple with Blackmore was something truly special for me. I'm not particularly a Blackmore fan as such but when peeps talk about influential guitarists I would say he's right up there.
Oh yeah, and let's big it up for Burt Weedon!!!
Would there have been a Satch boogie if ole Burt hadn't have done Guitar Boogie all those years ago?

Hybes- It is my belief that we are blessed with many great players in many genres and many styles within each genre. When you mention a player like Slash some will say yes he is unique which I think he is , some will say he is not. Gilmour, Schenker EVH, so many great players that are recognizable to most just by playing a single note. There are way to many for me to list of the ones I admire. Innovation or creativity is in the mind of each listener. Very few players are able to span the admiration of all but some have as you well know. I am just thankful that we are so blessed.
I shall have to try beets on a burger. The only way I have tried is by themselves.
