michelle - "They have a bunch of gigs planned for the summer between here and Philly."
Can they take the long way to Philly? I'll say the same thing to you (well, your son) that I've said to matt king. Play a gig in LA and I'll be there, front and center. :-)
I seem to remember you posting a live clip or two of your son's band, but are there any samples from the CD that I can hear? Or not yet?
elpp - Thanks for sharing the pictures.
What kind of car do you have, and how on earth can that be a comfortable place to sleep? I'm 6'4"...that'd never work for me. ;-)
Guitarman77897 - Hey! What've you been up to lately?
scottycherie - I think Ebay is your best bet. I've seen the shirt you're talking about and I think it's very cool...hopefully you're able to find another one.

Do The Burgers, the cd was just finished, so the stuff they have on their myspace page was put up before that and isn't mixed as well. They have a few gig vids up on youtube. here, and some vids of practice. Here's a lovely mix of recording and a gig. Take note - when they play in the basement it's at gig volume. lol! The drummer is 18, my son is 17, and the guitarist just turned 17 in June.
Good times man, good times.

Blue_Moon--oK...I went to bucketheadland and listened to Landing Beacon.........WOW......I can't think of a better tribute to MJ. Saying what someone means to me or anyone is best done through musical instruments anyway.....words, written and oral language are so limited.....what more can I say?

Any of you old farts remember Ringo's No No Song? We were in the car and the song came on the radio and my hubs and I started laughing. Hell, I ever remember most of the words to it and I haven't heard it in probably 20 years!

scubadaz: Thanks! You're right, I'm definitely not a critter fan. Spiders in particular. Which brings us to Michelle's question. Congrats on the job!
Michelle: Its scientific name is Bigass Mexican Spider, next time I see one I'll send it to u so u can ship it to McK....lol, everyone I showed that picture to at work said the same thing, but it's actually a trick of the eye. I was inside a mesh tent, and so was the spider, while the tree and table were several feet back. In reality the spider was about the size of my thumb nail. Had the spider been as big as it looks I probably would've had a panic attack (not kidding), and I definitely would not have taken the photo!
Skippygirl: Thanks! And you should definitely come over to Mexico. As nice as this place (Los Filtros) is, there are literally hundreds of places far more beautiful. I hear a lot of good things about Oaxaca and Guanajuato, haven't been there yet myself.
Austin: It's a Chevrolet Chevy C2. Only for sale in Latin America, think a shorter version of the Cavalier. It is uncomfortable as f@#$k for sleeping. I had to roll down the back seat and sleep with my head in the trunk, my body in the back seat and my feet in the front seat!!! But it runs nice, doesn't eat up a lot of gas, and I can squeeze it into openings a big car would never get into (like right next to a lagoon!).

I went to the the gym tonight and, despite all my burger-eating, I'm at the lowest weight I've been since I started keeping track in June 2008. I've lost 16 pounds in that time...it feels good.
I listen to my MP3 player on random while I work out, and tonight I was listening to Satch...Summer Song came on when I was 37 minutes through my 45 minutes on the stationary bike. As tired of that song as I am sometimes, this was the perfect time to hear it...it was a nice push to the end...
michelle - Awesome...thanks for those. The sound quality is a bit iffy, but I can tell they have talent and they get along musically so that's really cool. I know you will, but please tell us when the CD is buyable. ;-)
And I'm too young for No No Song, but I get the same way with some 90s rock. I'll hear hits from 15 years ago that I haven't heard since...it's funny how things stick with you. The same thing happens whenever I go back and listen to Green Day's Dookie or The Offspring's Smash...I still know the words to everything.
brownbow1955 - We are not "asleep"...if you hang around here long enough to get to know us, you'll see we do get into deep discussions every now and then. We know each other well enough to be able to disagree and not hold grudges, and we all have Satch in common.
You've made 15 posts in five years. It'd be great if you join in some of the music-related topics people bring up here, but if you're only interested in talking politics it probably won't turn out well because we barely know you.

brownbow1955:Its an incredibly complex subject, certainly not one i would care to discuss here at the moment. This is a difficult time for many trying to hold their jobs down & keep their home & family together
People in this forum certainly dont have their head in the sand, far from it! its more because people know how rotten the so called economy ostrich egg is.We all need a lil hope & escape to see us through till tomorrow n i think t2j provides that for many, some more than others
I myself am very much into said subject, have been for 20 plus years.Maybe we can pick up on this again when things level out hopefully in the future, but for now out of respect for Joes forum & those that visit i must decline
Have a good day
Scuba:Congrats! finaly aself esteem boost...onwards
Slan has a lil guy 7 years old coming for his 2nd guitar lesson next thursday....not easy. His mother is fine with him playing electric, his dad wants him to learn classical...but this lil un cares only for electric & distortion...PERIOD! He was born with a spinal disorder that makes him at times clumsy so he,s getting a hard time at school from the other kids because he cant play footy without falling down god luv im, so he has a lot of internal anger & frustration that needs vented.I had t take his da t the side & ask him "whats more important? your sons happyness or your ego" he didnt like that much being a psychologist. The deal is he learns chords/scales finger technique on the classical for 15 mins & the amp gets cranked later for 30 after...amazing what distortion can do!!! hehe

Great job on the weight loss - just keep it going.
I have several playlists on my iPod - some where the songs start off easy going, and when I end up getting tired, more hard pounding songs kick in.

From Musicradar
Steve Vai releases 2-disc live DVD
Where The Wild Things Are out in October
Steve Vai releases a 2-disc live DVD, Where The Wild Things Are, on 5 October 2009 on his own Favored Nations label.
Where The Wild Things Are features 2 hrs 40 mins of Vai in concert, filmed in HD at the State Theatre, Minneapolis during his recent Sound Theories tour.
The DVD also features bonus footage that includes exclusive interviews with band members and Steve's viral hit promotional video for the Jemini distortion pedal. The DVD contains both 5.1 and stereo mixes, plus a commentary track featuring Vai and some of his band members.
The musicians in this band are: Bryan Beller (bass), Jeremy Colson (drums), Dave Weiner (guitar and sitar) and Zack Wiesinger (lap steel).
"Nothing too indulgent!"
"When I put a band and a show together I try to create an entertainment experience that I would like to have if I was sitting in the audience," explains Vai. "I like to witness great musicianship but nothing too cerebral or overindulgent, I like to be stimulated by a large dynamic range of emotional intensities and melodic richness, I enjoy when people love their instrument and it shows by their oneness with it, I like to feel as though I'm part of a family with the audience and the band, and I like to walk away feeling uplifted and not beat up by somebody's ego or the things they hate about themselves and the world.
"And of course I want a cool t-shirt."

Austin, sound quality is always difficult to get using a camera. Hubs is waiting for our daughter to finish up the art files for the cover, then it all gets uploaded off to the company. Good job on the lbs too btw!
Slan, ya got a heart the size of Texas (which according to Texans is really big.) Yer a good man. Best to Tura & John.
