I just don't get the concept of the ashes. Lets go stand out in the hot sun for day's on end and play catch..... And the winner gets what? Burnt wood..... Might as well hit a little ball around for a 10Km walk.

Peace Lily - OK somehow we will have a T-M-J-S-P Joe weekend and we'll get BigBunny in too!!!
I guess Mr Vai would look vain if he voted for himself. I must say, I checked out Europa (his no.1 pick) on youtube and it IS stunning.....

Fuzzy Odd - I love it, we had the "We've got the ashes, Aussie Aussie Aussie, we love beating the Pommies" , now we've got the "I don't like cricket, I don't understand this ashes stuff". Bwahahaha Ingerland Ingerland Ingerland, time for a beer! Happy days.

Marcos Ambrose is a doing great this year in NASCAR. You Aussies trained him up right
Juan Pablo Montoya should have already won a race as consistent as he has been.
Pip- That shows ya just how difficult a win is in this series.

Hi Joe, I just signed up on here, and I know I'll sound like a dork probably, but you are the greatest guitarist of our time and I am a huge fan. Ok dorkiness out of the way. So when are you going on tour by yourself again? Don't get me wrong I love Chicken foot, but I really would like to see one of your shows, not the bands. Well whenever you do, make sure you come to North Carolina, and I'll be there.

Railton: Pretty good kid eh? I agree, Fur Elise is a lovely song...I've actually tried working it out on guitar, didn't get very far ;)
RE: The Ashes, I find it funny that whenever we last won it there was a HUGE fuss made about it, open top bus parades and suddenly cricketers endorsing stuff left right and centre. This time, well nothing really happened. It just about made the evening news...What's life without a friendly rivalry though? :)

Scuba: Well, she is definitely good looking, but I was thinking about her guitar prowess. You seldom see/hear female guitarists playing that style of music, and playing it well enough to get on stage with Vai and not look like a complete fool is even more impressive, regardless of gender. Did u check out that vid, her playing with Vai?
Railton: I'd say get a feel for what the judges want, playing a song of yours is probably option 1 but if they won't even let you in the door with that u should have an alternate "popular" song ready to go. That's how I would approach it anyways.

Iggy the Icicle - Last time there was a HUGE fuss because at the time the Aussies were the best side in the world by a country mile and we hadn't beaten them for decades so it was a massive achievement. Less so this time round, but still a great result.

WEAR A HELMET!
I had just picked up my husband after work and we were driving home. I had to pull over to let an ambulance by, and it stopped about half a block in front of us. We see one of my husband's co-workers - a motorcycle rider, standing there. Next to him is our friend and my husband's co-worker laying on the sidewalk! His bike - a new Harley - was there also, but both bikes were upright. We didn't know if a car pulled out on him or what? I pulled into the next side street and parked the car, and we ran a half block down to them. There was oil on the road, and our friend must have gave his bike some gas to go up the incline and fish-tailed. His bike went out from under him, and he went sliding into the curb and whacked his head off of it. THANK GOD he had on his helmet! He was only going about 30 mph in city traffic, but he got some nice road rash on his knee, the back of his hand, forearm, and shoulder. We don't know if that's his only injuries or not, but it's all we could see. I think he might have a concussion, but we don't know if there's any further damage. He was in pain and upset about the whole thing. As he laid there trying to look at the damages on his body, his one thought was... "I got a gig this weekend!" Friggin musicians! lol! They took him off to the ER, and the other co-worker drove his bike over into a parking lot to get it off the street. We came home and called the HD dealer to come and pick it up because it needed a doctor of it's own, and we wanted it to be safe. After we went back to the lot and met the HD guy and got the bike sorted, we went to the ER. Of course they wouldn't let us in because we're not family :-/ By that time his girlfriend was there, so he had somebody with him. We just didn't want him to be alone. We had the security guy relay some info, and dude said he'll call us later after they do whatever they have to do with him.
That was a pretty good scrape on his helmet. If he wouldn't have been wearing it, I'd prolly be telling you I just saw our friend die.
Bottom line is - you don't have to be going fast to be killed on a bike. That whole "I don't wear a helmet because I don't want to be a vegetable" argument don't mean shit to your family if they're burying you over an accident that happened going 30 mph. Sure, if yer going 55 things are gonna be harsher, but this just goes to show - HELMETS SAVE LIVES!

Mystical Robot :-
When I first started getting serious about playing I would record myself every time I'd pick up the guitar. Weeks and sometimes months later I'd listen back to them and I could then hear what I'd improved on and what needed more work.
Eventually, this approach help me develop my "ear" and become more aware of what I needed to do without having to record it,although I still record myself if I come up with a cool riff or nice melodic run just so I can reference it in the future.Hope this helps.

JOE and band:& T2Jers: I have been deathly sick this past couple of weeks. I ended up with a couple of back to back bacterial infections! This stuff can kill you folks. I'm doing better now but the meds have been almost as hard on me as the infections. I called Buzzy Linhart to see if he still had a copy of ATN's "Rotating Sky" album and he's make us a new safety copy. Some how I ended up with a bummer safety copy. Buzzy cool that way. Matt King: Hey Big guy! Long time no see. Thanks for joining my friends on face book and myspace. That's made it easier to find your music and to share it with other friends. Travis Larson Band back here on 9/11/09.
