Burly-Yes i agree its almost impossible to compare the great guitarists...but really these competitions can result in the "better" player...its really more about the opinion of the judges....early judging is very inconsistant...unlike american Idol...the best judges are there from the beginning....i like to think i would have a better chance in the later rounds for being "New Blues" (like Joe)instead of old and tired blues...but I get a little better each time so its all good.....most of all when its over i can go back to doing my own thing =)
Skippygirl_ Thanks so much, im glad you could appreciate it..theres a few nervous fumbles early, then i was able to get a little more comfortable.
Scubadaz- yeah GC has a reputation...and they really dont treat their loyal customers any different than Mom and Pop buying a kid their first guitar....the last few years i rarely even go there....thats why KOTB was brought back after stopping it for a year (new owners)...they really handle the event badly (and thats a nice way of putting it) but it had no effect on the judging as far as i know....the former employee winning when a few others were better have everyone just saying...ah Guitar Center is Back to their same ways!....its isnt about the guitarist...its about Promotion$
Final Note- got a call from an old friend /Singer i met at the Creed show a month ago...original project...girl drummer...sounds like fun....peace Out
Joe

Elpp, a little late, but I gotta go for it - HELL YEAH!
As for Jeff Campetelli, honey, he has "dimple powah!" lol! I love to watch him drum. It's not like Joe has a wild band when he's on his own. lol! Yer lucky if we get a Stu bop going or Joe skipping across the stage. It's just another animal. Hell, now that I think about it, Joe going back to his regular band after being with this bunch will prolly be like going into a nursing home. lol! Just kidding... sort of. I love Joe's band, no matter who the bass player is - they have all fit well.
Psycho Monkey
Alan, quit dying yer hair brown. We know what you really are!

Mike : Mozart piece
Ibanezguitar : thx.
Elpp : It's free download, so it's when you wish. Just a point : if you really want to go into the trip, 10 listening at least are required, & also reading the story onto the webpage to really catch the concept album.

In fact, there's so much great guitar players who had tried to surpass Jeff Beck into electric guitar, & some really succeded to go over him, than at the end, you just realized that nobody has surpassed him.
Dig it?
Beck is Scarlatti.

So I'm walking through the local guitar shop and I see the silver surfer (production model - not the really expensive one) and the guy says I can have it for $1000 Canadian. Some guy ordered it and never picked it up. So I have a couple questions for you guys....Is that a good price? Is the sproduction silver surfer as good as the JS1200? Or is it basically the JS100 (which is not nearly the guitar that the JS1200 is)? HELP me guys (and gals).

Axe; you didn't lose dude, the judging just sucked! great playing! are you in a band? if not you should get one together and get yourself out there. too much talent not to. i've known a guy for 15 years that can play like he's possesed but no one knows becuase he's too shy to play in front of people. huge waste. if you play like that more people need to hear! great job, keep it up.
was a great game last night. both teams were impressive. game could have gone either way, though the Titans blew a couple great opportunities. and my wife loved the score 10-13, she's a big Sammy fan.
elpp; that they are! almost got to the playoffs last season with an untested and unknown QB.
as for the best guitar player debate, hell they all play better than me so..... kudos to all!

VAI ALERT:
Not sure how many of you already know this, but if you go to the Steve Vai Merch store to pre-order Where The Wild Things Are, you get:
-A copy of the DVD, CD and a bonus download album Where The Other Wild Things Are containing the other songs from the DVD that didn't make it to the first CD. The bonus download album will be available for instant download in either MP3 or WAV formats as soon as your order is complete!
-In addition, Steve will autograph all pre-ordered copies!
This seems to come right as the Satch and Vai argument is getting fired back up, but regardless of which side you're on, you gotta admit this is gonna be a kick-ass DVD. My only hesitation about buying this at first was the fact that some songs had been omitted from the CD, but this remedies that problem... Just had to go back to Amazon.com to cancel my pre-order there..
Hope this helps!!
Listening to Steve Vai-Where The Other Wild Things Are-For The Love Of God
I literally JUST downloaded this.. 12 songs.. The Violins really stand out on FTLOG... Nice addition! Now on to the others!!

Turbo236: I didn't mean to re-open the Satch vs. Vai argument (which I'm sure is an old one). Steve is one of the worlds best and nothing can take that away from him. I just can't watch the man without rolling my eyes.

Scubadaz Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering why the production silver surfer felt almost exactly like the JS100. IT basically is. I think I'll continue to save for the JS1200, and let this one go. Limited edition or not, I want the better guitar. Besides, who can resist the beautiful cherry red finish on the 1200?? ;-)

LOL or how about some of those bluegrass mandolin pickers! They can shred! Ricky Skaggs is friggin FAST!! I'd like to see some of our so-called rock guitar gods keep up with them - on acoustic no less!

Mother Arrested After Letting 6-Year-Old Daughter Drive
POSTED: 12:19 am EDT September 11, 2009
COATESVILLE, Pa. -- A Chester County woman was arrested after letting her 6-year-old daughter drive her SUV -- because she was too high, Coatesville police said.
Officer Robert Kuech, of the Coatesville Police Department, spotted the child driving the car down a busy street.
"There was two white knuckles and a little head, popping over the steering wheel," said Kuech.
When he stopped the vehicle, he saw the child's mother in the passenger seat. The child became upset and called her aunt.
"The aunt asked her if mommy was smoking smelly stuff again. The little girl replied, 'Yes,'" said Kuech.
The mother was taken to prison. Her four children are staying with family.

minimoog - architectural services - hard hit. The State stopped the biggest project in the office and it was a house of cards after that. Not sure how long they can hold out. Too many bosses (taking no cut by the way) collecting big salaries and perks for the amount of business we have.
Michelle - As the song goes "I Will Survive".

Just to set the record straight, I posted that news about the Vai DVD because I figured some folks here would be pre-ordering it, and I know a few were frustrated about Vai pulling the "other" Wild Things from the CD. That was in no way a subtle hint that I prefer Vai over Satch... quite the opposite actually! And I wasn't trying to add fuel to the fire either!!! I have nothing to add to that argument. Joe is my favorite, don't even have to think about it.
ANYWAY...
Michelle: That is a sad story, but it brought back some memories of my childhood. That probably is going to come across way wrong, but.. I always remember pestering my folks to let me drive when I was waaaay too young, and once in a while they would let me do it. Looking back I hope it's not because they were smoking smelly stuff!
I had to laugh at the fact that you left the copyright statement on the end of the post as you were "redistributing" it!!
I really hope the Meatbats get here early!! Better go check the mail...
Listening to: Joe's Vox Tracks-BBW #3 Mix (BBW Video Soundtrack)
Really been digging these lately..
--We should have some kind of contest here to let the fans name this song, and have Joe put it on his next solo album....
