Honestly, the idea of a rerelease bugs me too...especially so soon. But I'm hoping the DVD is cool enough to where it'll be worth the cost of the entire package, and I'll just pretend the duplicate CD isn't there.
I doubt it's the band's intention, but it sure does look like a cash grab (in the same way that the Coldplay lawsuit looks like a cash grab to non-fans). I bet the bonus DVD will help convince casual fans who haven't bought the album yet, but I think the idea of a rerelease will also turn off some fans who already have it. So I'd say it's a gamble as to whether the band will come out ahead, in the end.
I also wonder how Best Buy will handle the release. The album went gold (500,000 shipments), but I don't think actual sales have topped 400,000 yet. I doubt it'll be a Best Buy exclusive, but will they just put this on the shelves next to the older album without the DVD? If so there almost certainly will be a price difference.
The CD was $10 and the vinyl was $20...I'll be happy as long as the "deluxe" version can be found for less than $15 during release week. I'll be buying it regardless, since the Soap On A Rope video is included and I'm in a few of the crowd shots at the Fillmore. But still... ;-)
And all my complaints as a die-hard fan aside, I really am excited to see some of this in-studio footage. I love getting an inside look at the creative process like this.

Check this out...
My hubs and I took our son to Red Lobster for dinner. After we were seated for a few minutes, I hear a woman say "Do you know Steve Vai?" to the waiter. That perked up my attention! Then she says "My son plays guitar in Steve Vai's band". I spun around and said "Are you Dave Weiner's parents!" and they proudly said they were. lol! I blurted out that I love DW and even follow him on twitter. lol! I then had a squash my excitement and contain myself and let them continue their convo with the waiter. I didn't want to be rude. lol! I smiled through our whole dinner - giddy as hell. lol! When they were done eating, we were done also. They came over to our table and talked DAVE for about 10 - 15 minutes! We told them that we were fans of Dave's and have his cd, and a Got Riffs shirt, and all that good stuff. His dad didn't catch me on to many things I didn't know. He asked me if I had the new dvd - WTWTA, and I said no, but I'd heard good things about it. They raved that I had to get it, so I promised them I would. lol! Then he asked me if I have Live in Astoria - yes sir I do! They were so proud that Steve mentioned them in the band intros. Dave's mom mentioned that she makes seasoned pretzels for Steve, and he absolutely loves them. I told her she needed to give him some more to put a little speck on him. She nudged me and says "He's a vegan. He's gonna stay thin." lol! We went back and forth, and I told them we were huge Joe fans. They said Joe was a very nice guy, to which I picked up my cell phone off the table and showed them the pic of me and Joe on my phone wallpaper. lmao! Dave's dad says "Yep, that's Joe!" We talked about Steve, Billy Sheehan (he's a shy boy), G3, and Dave's cd - you name it, we covered it! lol! They were bragging on Dave, and I was bragging on Joe. lol! I did make sure to tell his mom that every single time we've seen Dave off the stage, he's always been so nice and polite, and she should be proud. Believe me, she is - they both are, and rightfully so! I also told her not to tell Steve, but we like Dave better. They laughed.
We shook hands and I introduced my family, and off they went. Of course, as soon as we left the restaurant we headed to Best Buy to buy the dvd! LOL! Now it's time to crack it open and see what everyone is on about.
What a cool night!
I best call me mum first for a check. She sounds so much better than she did Tuesday night.

scuba: lol that is very true very true indeed. but i mean i get the class and all but the teacher that's teaching it makes it so boring.
michelle: that is awesome what are the odds of that happening. i mean really setting behind them, and of all the places in the world that's awesome. i wasn't a Dave fan at first but after i heard some of his songs and the song he does on Vai's WTWTA he's pretty good.

Michelle - Red Lobster is the best. I like to go there for my birthday or any body's birthday for that matter. I eat way too much. Last time I o'd on coconut shrimp and Pina Colada's. YUM.(but too much coconut)
What a coincidence that Dave Weiners parents were there. I don't really know anything about Dave Weiner And just a bit about Steve Vai.(I really like hIs song " Frank")
Blue Moon MIniMoog - sorry to get i the middle of your conversation earlier.. I was just have'n fun. (but I still want the DVD)
I see every ones point however. We all like what we like and truth be told , I like Chickenfoot( But I love Joe solo.) But as long as Joe plays that guitar I will listen.
Any way I have rambled on enough ....sugar does that to me... I had a snicker's fudge candy bar . YUM :-)

You peeps should get on the WEINERWAGON! Go to the "music" section to listen!
Dave's mom said that the cd is long, and she thinks he could have made 2 cd's or a double (I forget exactly how she said it), but it sounds like it's gonna be good!
Maui Luau did the trick for me - and those feckin' biscuits are to die for. I'm sure they went straight to my ass, but they're so good! lol!
It's only after 10 and I'm fer bed. What a day! Night peeps!

I so would so u can feck off! LOL!
Sounds like a good day, all in all chelle, considering how it started....what a way to end it. Was A suitably impressed at his mother's Weiner knowledge and ability to chat up interesting strangers who turn out to be somebodies important? Cool beans baby!!!
My dad was a bit better today, yesterday was a hard one. But he kind of gave the physical and speech therapists a hard time today and didn't exactly cooperate with either of them. I scolded him and asked him how long exactly does he want to lay in that hospital bed? He just looked at me....but then about 10 minutes later said he thought he should give it a try to get out of bed...SHEESH!!! Too bad the nurse, Bob, was too busy with another patient for him to help....there's always (and better be) tomorrow for him to get all enthused again, lol!! He's also been extremely tearful, cries at the drop of a hat. Cried when he told me how his surgeon visited him today and told him how surprised he was to even see dad alive...he didn't think he'd make it at all and said so. Which shook my dad up pretty good...he's thankful to still be here too! We did lots of visiting, chatting, laughing and crying today. Tomorrow we're taking him back his wedding ring to put back on, now that most of his swelling has gone away. Then we can all have another good cry.
He has post-surgery depression and doesn't think he's improved at all, cuz for him, all he can see is he's still lying in a hospital bed and very weak. We keep telling him he wasn't AWAKE last week to see how bad he got and to BELIEVE US when we tell him he looks a thousand times better than he did just 5 days ago. He sez mebbe we're right and have a small point =|
Parents are so hard to raise sometimes!!! LOL!!
AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaand......we're rollin right on to Friday peeps....have a good one!

A few weeks ago we were talking about cell phone ringtones...I finally decided on my main ringtone, and it's not Satch.
I went with a cover of the Yardbirds' Shapes Of Things, done by the Dixie Dregs (from their 1994 Full Circle album).
You can download the clip I made here, if you want to listen to it (or even email it to your own phone to use).
I'm sure I'll use Satch as a ringtone for specific people, but I thought I'd go with something else for my main one.
Anyway...

If anyone was thinking of going to Hell but was putting it off because of the heat, they might like to think again as I believe it may be considerably cooler because I find myself agreeing with McKenna about the cash grab. No proverbials though, they are just taking the piss, period!

ALL: Don't know about cash grabber. I know I agree with Blue Moon. It's a rock album but not an exceptional one... If JS wasn't there I probably wouldn't have paid any attention to it.
PS: Today's my birthday! 35 is the new 14...
