Hey! To all the guys bad mouthing EVH, please take into consideration the following: the guy is a guitar genious :)
Having said that, he may have a bad temper sometimes but we don't know what the other guys and the overall situation were like.
Also, we're looking at a sound check of a band that had been playing years! Those guys are tired of each other.
Chickenfoot is only playing for less than one year. Those guys still find that all new.
Imagine what would it be like if Joe ONLY played with Chickenfoot for years? Couldn't he also be "slightly" stressed out?
Guys, I know you (we) all love Joe, but be fair to Eddie and don't take the current Sammy's criticism as absolute truth.
By the way, I love Sammy, but he shows part of being a very little man when he insists on bad mouthing Eddie. Sammy owes Eddie a lot (and vice-versa, I know)
Um resto de bom dia!

Jjc2009: turn it up and stand in front of the stack. It's called feedback. Move the guitar around to encourage different notes.

Mr. A McKenna--Jayus! millie the fact u seen my photos during my random timeframe of making my phots public to show someone creeps the shit outa me..
There's no territorial dispute here...or is there? Truth is it was not my intention to creep you out. I have been on this forum for nearly a year and I feel like a fool at times. Maybe I should stay out of alanmckenna.com because I'm not welcome. My bad. Hurty feelings! ;-(
I may not even be welcome on T2J.....I'll leave that up to Jon Luini and Joe to decide.
Anyway, I won't allow myself to be curious about Alan McKenna anymore. So many interesting fans of Joe.....big divides among some. ;-(

Joe Satriiani - It's life size can be played like any other guitar, though it sound terrible since I'm using fishing line for the strings and I don't have real tuning pegs.
But I made it mostly out of pine, the body is pine and the neck is pine, but various small things on it are made of other woods I had laying around.
I actually had those colors of paint laying around too...perfect colors almost...

Hey Satchland..
I am officially unemployed (again) for the winter. Signed up for my meager government handout yesterday. On a happier note I had a few remodeling jobs land in my lap...for cash of course...shhhhh !! The constuction trade is so horseshit up here I may have to go back to school and do something else. College at 40? Not so sure. Makes me think of Adam Sandler when he pulled up to the high school in an 80's Trans Am trying to be cool and everyone was laughing at him...lol...funny movie. Have a good day peeps !
And in my opinion...dial-up internet should be outlawed. It's cheap..but it's like trying to saddle-up and ride a dead horse.

Actually, Sammy & Mike almost always take the high road when talking about EVH. In fact, Sammy was very complimentary about VH in general during the CF tour.
I grew up with VH (I was 15 when the 1st album came out), but Eddie & his follower brother Alex really made/make it a tense band.
Skippy -
I was thinking more along the lines of a jam like CF did. The Stones have some great songs to jam/warm up to.
My day started with "Finding My Way" by Rush. That is a great way to get you going in the morning!

The value of a Catholic education and a pencil (this is too cute)!....
You don't even have to be Catholic to appreciate this one.
Little Margaret Mary was not the best student in Catholic School .. Usually she slept through the class.
One day her teacher, a Nun, called on her while she was sleeping. 'Tell me Margaret Mary, who created the universe?'
When Margaret Mary didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend sitting behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.
'God Almighty!' shouted Margaret Mary.
The Nun said, 'Very good' and continued teaching her class.
A little later the Nun asked Margaret Mary, 'Who is our Lord and Saviour?'
But Margaret Mary didn't stir from her slumber Once again, Johnny came to her rescue and stuck Margaret Mary in the butt with the pencil.
'Jesus Christ!!!' shouted Margaret Mary and the Nun once again said, 'Very good,' and Mary Margaret fell back asleep.
The Nun asked her a third question...'What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?'
Again, Johnny came to the rescue.
This time Margaret Mary jumped up and shouted, 'If you stick that thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!'
The nun fainted.

Al Surfer, actually I do have the impression that Sammy doesn't miss one opportunity of putting Eddie down, but I haven't checked his interviews lately. I watched them at the CF beginning and I got so tired of that attitude that I skipped them ever since.
Sentences like "Joe is the best guitar player I've worked with" (that he insisted on repeating on each interview) are rude and inelegant, even if they are true. But maybe it's just me...
I have to clarify, I'm a big EVH's music fan. Don't know nothing about his personality, but I know he was the guitar hero (emphasis on the past).
Cheers everyone,
VP

also, i know about the feedback thing, but when i hold it in front of the amp, it takes so long for the amp feedback to come, and i can't change the pitch of the feedback. but what i meant to say is that i think he uses a sustainer pedal, does anyone know what sustainer pedal he uses or what you would recommend.

jjc, if it takes long to feedback, it means you need to put it LOUDER!!!
One hint to get feedback faster: put your guitar in physical contact with the amp (usually the neck). The feedback will appear quicker.

Dudes and dudettes,
Remember me asking about the differences in capturing the guitar sound with a mic or sending it directly to the mixer via pod?
Well, here's a video of the performance that made me aware of the difference: Guitar Duel
I'm playing through a Line 6 connected directly to the mixer. The Marshall in my back is just for monitoring.
The other guy (Miguel) is playing through his Marshall and capturing the sound with a mic.
Truth is the video does not reflect the difference in the sound you could feel in the room, but I think you can still tell...
Well, you tell me what you think.
Cheers,
VP
