Shooting from the hip, I said this to my manager pertaining to how our dept head delivers information to us as opposed to my manager or anyone else...
"If you shit on my lawn, and it looks like the Sistine Chapel, I know it's shit, but it looks like the Sistine Chapel, so I can let it be and go about my day. If you shit on my lawn and it looks like shit, smells like shit, and is stinkin' up the neighborhood, well then I have a problem."
I'm tellin' ya, I'm just that precious. lmao!
edit - you'll have to buy the book...

And I'm back....my first gig report yayyyyyy!!! It's not Joe but 2 degrees of separation makes it related haha.
Waiting for my videos to load into youtube so I'll post them later.
Had a really fun night at Davy's show. Thanks to T2J I had a massive plan and was guerrilla-ready!!
You'll have to imagine a small suburban Melbourne pub, when we got there I think I counted about 20 people having a meal so we had a meal too and a couple of beers, saw Davy wander in and order his meal and a beer too. Funny, he turned from the bar and looked straight at me - omen!
After a while we thought we'd go through to the band room and see what the support act was like. And it was a typical Aussie grungy pub scene, about 20 blokes in black T shirts all standing at the back of the room with arms folded, but watching this incredible kid Joe Robinson and we were all gobsmacked!
This little guy was amazing, like a Tommy Emmanuel, nobody had ever heard of him. We were stunned, the little fella was awesome.
By the time he finished about another 30 or so people wandered in and Davy came on. I think I saw about 5 women all up, but luckily we did pal up with a couple who had flown over from Hobart just to see him. Poor Davy, I hoped he wasn't too disappointed but anyways off he goes and it was a great set. Since nobody was within 4 metres of the stage I filmed the first 2 numbers Riverbend and Almost Cut My Hair, although even with Axe's great tips the image isn't entirely 100% focussed. Anyhoo I'll post them later.
So at this point I know I'm 100% to meet Davy :>)
He played for about 2 hours and broke a string at one point, still don't know how he kept doing the fast runs etc without it but he did. The small crowd was appreciative, especially moi, you'll hear me on the video.
At the end I just walked over to the side of stage (I knew none of the blokes would need elbowing out of the way) and out he popped first - all grins and smiles, he is SO CUTE (sorry Burly) and delightful and adorable! Mr Skippy took pics of me with him and then I completely went stupid and planted a big kiss on his cheek. I said "well, it's not Cabo Tahoe but thanks for coming all the way" and he lit up and laughed. When I told him my name was Skippy he laughed too cos I'd been tweeting him and he wrote on my CD "nice to finally meet you!" I had my Sharpie with me :)
So then all the blokes wandered over and started to ask him for pics and stuff and Mr Skippy and I re-grouped, the Hobart couple were impressed with my fast work haha so I lent them my Sharpie and off they went to get an autograph but really, the whole band had beers and talked to anyone and everyone for ages.
In fact, Ty was standing on his own so we went over and chatted with him, again he is just like Davy absolutely cute and adorable (10/10 in the hottie stakes - sorry burly) and Austin you would have been proud I asked him about heaps of stuff, the Isle of Man gig, the bus rendition of Cry Love, we talked about Stu Hamm, how Ty learnt piano, Seattle, he was so cute and funny and I got a pic giving him a hug.
Thank you caller......

Wow Sounds like a great time Skippy-girl. I hope Davey stays unaffected by success, cause that guy is going places. Are you saying that the venue was fairly empty? cause that would be a shame. Congrats on getting the time to talk to Davey and the band.......and auto graphs and everything
Michelle - I think yer my hero.... lol....... I wish I could lay it all out like you did.. I always take it til I can't take it no more...( and then it gets a little crazy.....)

cosmic_ape - I just put in for one Jimmy Kimmel ticket right now. It looks like it's only a request now, and won't be an actual ticket until someone confirms it...? I guess they do it manually. Did you add yourself to the list already? Were you confirmed yet?
I don't watch the Jimmy Kimmel show ever, but I know he has some outdoor performances. Those all have separate tickets, it looks like...but there isn't a separate listing for 11/6. Does he also have in-studio music performances, and if so, is that what Chickenfoot will be?
Does anyone have more info on how his show works?
Skippygirl - Awesome...it's cool that you had a few minutes to chat with Davy. I wish I had some time to talk to him after the show he did in LA, but he was SO busy.

Skippy, that sounds like sooo much fun - and ya practically had them all to yerselves!! lol! Can't wait to see the vids!
Chickenfoot down under - AYE!
As for Davey & BDS - I took my mp3 player to work today knowing I was gonna have to escape into my own head to get through the first hour or so. Crowd Chant came on as I was walking to my area, and I felt like friggin Rocky going into the ring. lol! A bit later Davey came on. I don't know what song it was, a slower one, but OMG - it was soooo what my soul needed at that moment. I just wanted to crawl into my mp3 player and let Davey's guitar & voice soothe me all day. It was one of those moments when all the planets were aligned and all was well in this world. I literally felt my shoulders drop and my muscles relax, and I just smiled and had those few minutes with Davey in my head before the bullshit started up again. I love Davey. lol! I'm so glad CF introduced us to him!
p.s. - GO PHILLIES!!!! ;-)

Peace Lily and Michellica - thanks! Did I say how CUTE Davy is?? There was only a small crowd there so it was really like a BBQ after LOL! All standing round and chatting. I actually only got a few moments with Davy cos apparently there were alot of "industry" people there who needed to talk with him but Ty was all ears and really nice.
M - good grief girl sounds like you got WW3 at work! glad you got Davy to soothe your pain, and Joe of course. Sounds like they could use some conflict resolution skills there.
Austin - hiya buddy! So I met someone you haven't huh???? LMAO!!!!! I shoulda got you an autograph and sent it over - if only I'd known :>) why didn't you tell me? And you know I thought he was reall tall but he's only just a couple of centimetres taller than me in my big girl shoes.
AYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M - are u not the least bit concerned that any of your posts may end up in the wrong hands? You know that in this day and age everything spreads like wildfire.
Case in point: my former boss and very good friend, who moved to another facility within the same company, knew about my divorce before I told him (and long before I started talking about it on the 'net, so he definitely didn't check my posts). He lives in South Carolina!!!!! WTF?!?!
U do seem to have the backing of your boss, but in your place I'd still be careful. My 2 cents :)

Skippygirl - Oh, I did get to meet Davy...but I only got a quick signature (on the night's setlist, which I grabbed) and a handshake. He was there with his girlfriend (or wife, if he got married young), who kept tugging at his other arm while he was signing things for people. I didn't want to bother him any more than I already had, so...
I did tell him that I saw him six times before that night, between Jeff Beck and the two Chickenfoot tours...he seemed really surprised about that, haha.

Austin, I don't care for Kimmel either... He ain't that funny and his warm up guy sucks... I only went to his show one time and someone got tix for it. Usually if you get a ticket for the show and the performance is outside in the parking lot, they'll usher you there... Some people just go to see the performance so if you watch the whole show you probably will have to stand in the back for the band, which isn't really a big deal (the place ain't that big)...
I did register but I haven't received any confirmation yet... we'll see... so far, it does look like an inside performance, even though these guys are pretty big... maybe that will change in the future depending on ticket request, who knows!

suggestions for a new Halloween costume this year.
- well Joe, you could start out with a full body hair remove, and then call up Steve Vai and ask him to borrow his leftowers of bodypaint from his Bad Horsie video. Then bring out your surfeboard and there you have it.........

Joe - I don't see any news in the recent e-mail of a Blu-ray of the Live in Paris show...please say it isn't only coming out on DVD?
DVD = lossy multi-channel surround up to 6.1
Blu-ray = lossless high resolution multi-channel surround up to 7.1
DVD = low bit-rate (8 Mbps) archaic 480i MPEG-2 video
Blu-ray = high bit-rate (40 Mbps) efficient 1080p MPEG-4 video
If you check out the Steve Vai Blu-ray release you'll know immediately that it is a THOUSAND times better than the DVD release for audio fidelity and picture quality.
I hope you'll consider doing a Blu-ray release, I'm sure the releasing company would be happy to help out in this regard. Surely the show was shot on film or HD cameras anyway?
Also some deluxe HD versions of Surfing, Extremist, Blue Dream, etc., etc., with 24/192 5.1 PCM would be kickass!!!!
