BrittanysDad---Millicent is a Teutonic name that, according to what I have read means, "Strength." A friend gave me a gift card that defines Millie as "Industrious." At any rate, me mom named me and my dad gave me my middle name Caren that a lot of people spell K-a-r-e-n.
Maritime---Great to hear from you again. The guitar school in Germany is on a splended track of showing all that can be done with the guitar as I see it. The guitar teacher showed some beautiful techniques that make me love the guitar and its lovely music even more. So, are you in hibernation now?
Interesting documentary. It is dangerous to flow with blind faith. Most discoverers of today's religions warned us about that. Only primitive religions that are infused with spirituality and reasoning based on God as Love and Truth can guide us on the right path. Ignorant and/or malicious people manipulate religion to make it materialistic and evil by starving it of love and reason. That is why as a little girl I was instructed to go into my "closet" conscious being and pray with to God who is Love, Life, Truth, Soul and Spirit. My dad, Joe, loved me so much that he helped instruct me during my trying and "meltdown" times.
I just got the CD "Professor Satchafunkilus ..." two days ago. Every time I listen to it I hear something new and wonderful.
Joe Satriani, Thank you for REVELATION. The slides, melody and harmony as well as other ways you hold and stroke the guitar are so loving and joyful--it is contagious! God bless you, man!

Hey everyone,
Hope everyone had a good Halloween. I was a rockstar for only a few hours and then I had to change and get ready for work in the evening. That reminds me, I got to get back into my running. I have not ran in almost two weeks because of work. AARRGGHH!!
Do the Stu: That is awesome to see Joe in the last four shows. Wish I can go. Follow up on how the concerts went, if you could please. The weather here is warming up quite a bit. How is the weather over there. Hope there aren't any more wildfires.
js1200js1000: Canadians are good people. You stayed at a Holiday Inn in Fort Wayne, Indiana? If you recall, was it the one that was on Washington Blvd? If so, that hotel got changed. It became a Clarion and now it changed to the Fort Wayne Inn. The new Holiday in Fort Wayne is located on Paul Shaffer Drive (across from the Memorial Coliseum). Check all the information out online, or I can tell you more some other time. How is your jig coming along?
ZuperDaveMcCarthy: Sorry to hear that your youngest one had strep throat and I hope he/she gets better. I have been battling a bad dry mouth for the past week, because of work. I'll be waiting for the CD and sleeve in the mail. If there is anything else, e-mail me.
ZincMaster: Enjoyed the car joke. Your from Crown Point? Where is that? I am from Fort Wayne (originally from Harlan). Disappointed to hear about King of the Hill. I enjoy watching that show (late nights). I best friend can play the theme song of that show on his electric and acoustic guitars.
Guitarman77897: How are your teeth since the trip to the dentist? I know how it feels because I been through that before. I try to keep my teeth clean from getting cavities.
BRITTANYSDADDY (Travis): Sorry if I was ignoring you. How are you doing? Awesome that you have a pitbull.
Well, gotta head on in to work at the Mastadon Grill (our restaurant at the new Fort Wayne Holiday Inn). Check our hotel out online guys. See ya!!!

SKIPPYGIRL-Well first off playing guitar is not something you can fast track. thats why i said to take lessons and then see if you still want to pursue this. what kind of music do you like? I love blues, most genres of rock & roll. i had some jazz lessons that didn't last long because the teacher was making me nervous and he was expensive. he would alway yell at me for something or another.
why do you want to learn guitar? i dn't know about a 10 step program for guitar though. first thing is to know the scales. in all keys, did you get the web site i posted earlier? Roo says to check out the satch zone, he's from austalia, or go over to his house for lessons. ha ha.
Tikimon- i guess the shirt was out. to bad about the camera. always bring spares!!!!

Hey Joe! I've been playing guitar ever since I first laid eyes on one, and I didn't even know who you were back then. I was only 10 at the time, but now I'm 20, and I've been listening to instrumentals for the last year and a half now. Every one of them blows me away. I really haven't had any lessons, I just taught myself through listening.
Anyway, your music's awesome, and you technique is crazy, and it's inspired me more than anything else ever has. I'm not gonna say I'm your biggest fan, because everyone says that, but I will say thanks for the inspiration.

Alexandre, my friend
I'm happy to hear from you !
You will love Paul Gilbert's gig ! Some posts earlier there's a link to his Red House cover in BCN. It's a pity he wasn't in Palau with Joe, as he was in the UK gigs.
Filipa (Was that her name?) didn't seem to me quite happy in Barcelona, I hope your new girlfriend rocks !

Thanks Lorenzo001,
So far, then,
buy/rent guitar
take lessons for 3 months
learn scales in all keys
check the website you gave me (will do)
check the website Roo posted (will do)
then what?
Given your experience, looking back, what model guitar would you rent/buy to start? Would you stick with it or need to change to a different model later?
At this point the first goal would be to play 1 Satch song within 1 year. I do enjoy alot of other genres and artists but you have to admit, surely if you can play one Satch song you would feel 10 ft tall? That is the first goal I am considering.
As you prolly know, people learn in different ways (audio, visual, theoretical etc.) so I need to learn something the way I learn best, which at the moment seems to be a progressive key guitar skill development and understanding of the mechanics of the instrument (I would have to know HOW the instrument makes different sounds, not just WHAT it can do, for example) teamed with as much immersion as possible to embed the learning as rapidly as possible.
The downside to my methods is immersion requires alot of time, so I would have to plan for that to happen.
GoldenGirl I think you said you are a guitar teacher? Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.
I figure this forum holds all the experts I am ever going to have access to, so please help if you can.
Thanks in advance.

Guitar teacher? Me? Nope. I am in the same boat as you--never played, but would like to learn.
I washed out playing the violin from 4th grade into high school. My heart wasn't in it. Same with piano. I took lessons for a summer and got as far as playing "Lucy in the Sky ..." by the Beatles.
I was such a smitten Beatles fan as a grade school kid! I used to dance or march around the school play ground singing "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden."
Yaaawwwm. Time for bed.
Good Night, all.

try a strat unless you have an interest in acoustics, and learn some basic chord shapes little theory few scale patterns and you'll be doing great for a start, learn some simple songs and licks to keep you goin and remember 10 minutes a day is better than 1 hour a week
most important thing for anyone who seriously wants to play is learn the notes of the fretboard, it opens up everything for the instrument, learn how the intrument works and why it makes the sounds it does
eh thats all i can think off, i havnt given a lesson in ages the last studen i had was twice my age, was rather weird
