Hiya Mikesb,

Sorry for the misunderstanding (Phil Collins?). Anyway, I liked Mick Taylor's playing too. The Stones definitely went through a lot of changes over the years. I still like "Honky Tonk Women" from my dancing days as a kid!

Cappy--Good news! My Steve finally came out and gave me a hug! I was reminded his life changed completely when he was layed off from a company he worked for for 21 years. He has been sending out resumes online for 4 years and has been getting LUKE WARM TO NO RESPONSES. He works at The Home Depot and keeps telling me it's a survival job until he finds a document control, archive or library tech job.

Thanks for the insight into the world of Steves!

marksaurs...I'm sorry people misunderstood what I was trying to say. I understand that fingers & touch have more to do with tone than the amp. I've been playing since I was 14. And yes, the pick-ups were sold as a set from Fender called "Texas Special Tele". It was selling for around $100 new when I bought it in '95

tikimon - It's cool to see you mention Jonny Lang. I was just listening to Lie To Me in my car yesterday.

He's awesome...I saw him open for Aerosmith back in 1997, at my first concert ever. He opened for Aerosmith again at a show I saw in 1999, but then it never worked out for me to see him until last year. I think he'll be at the Experience Hendrix gig I'm going to in a few weeks, though.

slanshroom - I'm not sure I get what the point of that video is. Are they trying to say WTC7 collapsed from explosives as a way to prove that the other two towers did as well?

No one died in that collapse, so I don't see much of a conspiracy. I guess you could argue that they brought in explosives to bring it down on its own after the fires started, but so what? There were government offices there and maybe it was just a precautionary measure...I don't see what they would have needed to cover up. If the video is trying to convince people that the government orchestrated the main WTC attack, well, they would have removed all incriminating evidence from WTC7 well before then.

And lastly...that building didn't collapse until 8 hours after the other two. If it was all a conspiracy, why wouldn't they have brought that building down closer in time to the other two?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for thinking for yourself and everything...it's just that in my mind most conspiracy theories have a lot of fundamental problems.

Keniko - It's nice to hear someone else has seen Laurel Canyon. I LOVE that movie, yet I don't really know anyone else who has bothered to watch it. I have a co-worker who is practically in love with Christian Bale and I can't even really convince her to watch it...haha. Oh well.

"Eddie started playing Steve's "Luke" model through Steve's amp and he sounded just like.....Eddie."

That's so true... There's a note from Joe somewhere on T2J where he comments on the Sevilla gig he did with Steve Vai and Brian May in the early 90s. He says he and Steve played through Brian's rig but still couldn't get his tone just right. So much of it is in the fingers...

Tostado - I don't know if I can pick a favorite Porcupine Tree album...I like Fear Of A Blank Planet/Nil Recurring, In Absentia and Deadwing equally, I'd say, so I guess it'd be one of those. Their sound has changed over the years, though, and I love their older stuff too.

I've already seen the Insurgentes videos, and I've also preordered the album. I guess the album title comes from a street somewhere in Mexico...do you know where that is, specifically?

...Austin...

Michelle--Thanks for the "Mississippi Queen" video

Slanshroom--Are you an official or unofficial teacher? You made my day by educating me about guitar subteties such as volume and tone. My ears are the better for hearing softer sounds that slowly build up.

This message place is making my mind reel!! That's REEEEL! I am overwhelmed by all the great info here.... will need to retreat to get my house and head sorted.

edit: its mentoned about the offices in the building, oops, and i dont know about you but i don't think a building would collapse like that from a few chair and desks on fire, the govermend lies about everything all the time

Has anyone given a listen to Santana's "All that I am"? My faves are "Just Feel Better" and "Trinity"

Steven Tyler always pours all his being into a song and "Just Feel Better" is no exception.

Kirk Hammett, Robert Randolph and Carlos sound heavenly together.

Does anyone know anything about the band THREE DOORS DOWN? My nephew said they are his favorite band.

GoldenGirl2.... Hello...... You mentioned Steven Tyler. To me he is one and I think always will be one of the best male Rock vocalist ever. Along with Hagar, and Plant....these three to me are the best you'll ever hear. The way Tyler sings Back In The Saddle the hair raises up on my neck. That cool snarl in his voice is perfect for Aerosmith and for Rock.

Have A Great Week End Everyone !!!!

I think I'll watch Laurel Canyon Sat. night.....Thanks Austin !!!!

See Ya

Slanshroom - You know that's been a big "mystery" here in the states for a while. But it's interesting to watch and listen to all the people who have blamed nearly everything under the sun on the Bush Administraion and have talked at long about how inept they are. But somehow when it comes to a big conspiracy his administration suddenly is good enough to sneak a demolition team past hundreds upon hundreds of journalists and cameras and knock down another building. I guess there's really no proof either way, but I personally just don't see it happening. Not to mention the fact that it served absolutely no purpose. No one died in that building and the entire country was already quite fired up over being attacked like that. But the story does in fact sell papers and advertising time on tv shows. I'm not a personal believer in the this conspiracy, but I am always interested to see another point of view on any subject. I personally just pray that nothing like that ever happens again in my lifetime.

Out of the Sunrise - I actually have been working hard on my harmonics. Getting better all the time. It sure takes a lot of concentration to get it right. I still cannot get them very quickly.

Everyone : (whoever cares that is)

I put up my setlist a few days ago. It doesn't indicate my favorite JS songs in any order, just my current idea of what I'd like to hear in a live concert. I went for the order I did because if you have too many fast/power songs consecutively, some in the audience might start to burn out; conversely, if youhave too many slow songs in a row, you can get a crowd all mellow-yellowed out too early. Anyway, that's my take on it.

Has anyone every heard them before? Just some kids with some great chops! If you haven't heard them, you should check them out. Very talented family.
