Hiya Joe,

I am overwhelmed with so many emotions from listening to your wonderful music.

Ever since 1974's "Europa" by Santana, I have prayed for a guitarist who plays heavenly instrumentals consistently--all on one or more albums.

Thanks to you, my dreams have come true.

I especially love your video from Paris of "Revelation" and the joyous response by the fans.

Thank you so much for sharing your God-given gift!

GoldenGirl2 (of California, of course!)

Hi Conner22,

Man, I hope you have the time of your life!!

Just to see Joe at the Warfield would be a major dream come true for me. I won't happen, because I am too poor--no funds at this time.

I hope Joe plays your favorite songs and you guys get to talk for a good while.

At this time I can maybe buy a few of Joe's albums on CD. So far I have "Surfing with the Alien", "Crystal Planet" and "Engines of Creation."

May you live life to its fullest with the Satch!!

Out of the Setlist I would say "This Darkened Heart". In my opinion it's the album that is most like "All That Remains". I don't know how you feel about screaming. They lyrics are beautiful though. (I can relate or at least they can often fit situations I've been in in my mind) I wouls read those along with it. A lot of people, however, like "The Fall of Ideals". I guess that is their most popular album. It is probably my second favorite.

i have visited colder areas on vacation. chicago in the blizzard of 05, yellowstone and glacier national parks in the winter. but this is florida and that is cold for us. next week back into the low 70's at night. it tough down here but i think i can make it. summers do tend to be a little brutal though. thank heavens for air conditioning.

Thanks T!!

OMFG did that show ROCK!! Loved Mountain. What a bunch of entertaining guys. My son knew who the bass player was before I did. lol! LOVE the helicopter hair-do!

The set was great. The lights gave the show a whole different vibe. Made it more epic. Super Colossal was freakin killer! So many great tune, but sorry Austin, not Out Of The Sunrise. lmao!!

The jam at the end with Leslie - Holy Christ in a handbasket! It was jaw dropping! Joe and Leslie put so much stank on those blues licks - I was in heaven! lol!

Oh, and as for our talk a while back about rest rooms at a Satch show... I was 5th in line for the ladies room - the mens room line came out of the bathroom, half way across the room, then curved and went back around and down the steps ;- ) Sheer feckin glory I tell ya!!! lmao!!

Out of the Setlist: You're probably right about the ol' whammy bar thing, I know mine moves around a lot whilst playing. Danged irritating it is too...=D
Short post for me before off to college (ok, high school or whatever). I have a test on irregular Past participles of French verbs in the Perfect tense first thing. Lucky me...

Can the next T2Jer to meet Joe please tell him to start playing Out Of The Sunrise again? He has three weeks or so to get used to it again before I see him...

distorted_horizon - John Petrucci jammed with Satch? I guess it's not much of a surprise anymore, but it's still awesome. :-)
symphonyofnames - Welcome back! I hope you enjoy the Satch show next week...be sure to come back here and give us a review.
conner22 - I'll be at the show at the Warfield, as will quite a few other T2Jers. Keep in touch...it'd be nice to meet up at the gig.

And I'm sorry to say that the two songs you mentioned aren't in Joe's setlist on this tour...

gotta have Joe - A squirrel on crack? Hahaha... It's always fun to come across Joe in unexpected places, isn't it?
michelle - Thanks for the mini review, and that's too funny about the line for the restroom...haha.

Aw, lovely to hear the reviews....anyway, I spent a lovely evening yesterday watching...yet again...'Still Crazy'

I love that film...for anyone not familiar it's about an a bunch of guys who used to be in a rock band in the seventies (called The Strange Fruits), who decide to ride the 'nostalgia wave' and get back together...only the old rivalries, egos and issues are still going strong and they manage to bugger the whole thing up again. It's peppered with so many laughs, and yet it's a sensitive film too with a killer lineup of actors. The only complaint I have is that the music isn't all that authentic, and even as 'rock' goes it's fairly poor. HOwever I love love love the main song throughout "The Flame still burns" and have figured out most of it on the guitar, and I hope to perform it at a birthday party soon.

So my question is, does anyone have any links to the tab (make sure I'm doing it right) of that particular song, or does it even exist in the internet ether as it's just got a few soundbites throughout the movie.

And also, does anyone have a favourite rock/music related movie?

Tuesdayschild - Wow...I absolutely LOVE Still Crazy! I love the body part band name bit that runs throughout the movie...haha. I still pass time with that every now and then.

I remember seeing previews for it back when it was new, but I couldn't make it to the theater for a few weeks for whatever reason. It was basically a box office bomb, in the US at least, and it seems like it was gone after just two or three weeks. So I had to wait until it came out on video. I loved it when I finally got to see it...I'll have to look for it on DVD next time I'm at a decent store.

It's a great movie, for those who haven't seen it...it has the comedy of This Is Spinal Tap and the drama of Almost Famous, but it succeeds because it doesn't try too hard to be either. I highly recommend it.

My favorite music-related movie is Laurel Canyon, although music is only a side plot in the film. It's from 2002 and stars Francis McDormand (the mom from Almost Famous) as a Joni Mitchell/record producer-type (and as a mom in the film, she's similar to her character in AF), Christian Bale as her son and Kate Beckinsale as his fiance. The couple moves out to California and end up living in his mom's house for a while. The movie is about Kate's character - sheltered, smart, goody two shoes - who is exposed to the music life (writing/recording, and the parties/drugs that go with it) for the first time, and the changes that result from it.

It's not the most popular movie, but the three stars are HUGE today so it's worth checking out if you like any of their other movies.

If you need to protect an autograph on your guitar try Krylon Crystal Clear…. I put it on over an auto graph done in silver sharpie (by Joe……. LEGEND) and it did NOT run! The finish is not high gloss (but then again I didn’t sand it with 200 grit sandpaper between coats)

cheese....If I had bought that JS 1200 your son's roommate would have gotten a size 11 right up his arse. Nothing worse than handing a nice guitar to an idiot...lol. Just wondering...when you say "trashed"...how bad is it?

I would have liked to hear Joe do "Out Of The Sunrise" also. But he did do my two favorite new tunes..."Ghosts" and "Revelation"...awesome !! Also, he could have pulled a few more from Super Colossal like "Redshift Riders", "A Cool New Way" or "The Meaning Of Love"...my three fav's from that album.

quick post -

skippygirl, There's no seeing Joe without getting a hug! lol! He was happy to see that three of us made it. We took our son for the first time. He wore his new Satch shirt to school today, and I bet he hasn't shut up about the show yet. lol! He has a phone full of pics to show how close he was too. I grabbed him when the guys left the stage, and we were smack in front of Joe when they came out with Leslie for the encore. Our seats were way to far away for my liking, so it was a real treat to get to the stage . My husband usually stays in his seat, but I absolutely have to get to the stage at some point during the show. lol!

My favorite music movie - DETROIT ROCK CITY

Corky was a trip the way he was breaking sticks. They were snapping left and right. Leslie would turn around and look at him like "WTF are you doing!" when he'd see a stick fly across the stage.

Did you guys see Stu's newest vid? It has a good Corky story in it. A Night On Satch Mountain. I'm sure it was posted already, but I finally got to it last night.
