ZuperDave...... I think it comes from the hands....touch,feel,approach of how you phrase the notes. Joe has such a soft touch....it's all over his soloing. I was reading an article on Steve Lukather. He was hanging with EVH. Eddie started playing Steve's "Luke" model through Steve's amp and he sounded just like.....Eddie.

Edit..... Glitz Man..... Good Luck to ya.......

Kenico:Totally agree...pass a guitar t any of those cats its going t sound like them...a loveable TONE is another issue, it can make or break many a musician & that DOESNT come JUST from the hands

eg Gary Moore with strat

Gary Moore with Les paul

Same man different TONE

This idea TONE is all in the fingers is bull t me, the FEEL of SOUL HEART is in the fingers end of story!!!! TONE is for amps & guitars...how we pick our poison depends..there is no end t the tone search for anyone, its a black hole, the way out for me is taking an acoustic guitar open tuned t a tuning i dont know which bypass thought n all i,ve learnt bar technique, sit next t the sea mountain n noodle, works a peach every time, its my way, not THE way but i find me in the mad chaos of it all

Thanks for making the music you make! You are an incredible musician that makes music with tremendous feeling! I've been a fan since day one. Everytime your tour comes anywhere near Colorado, I do my best to get tickets. Missed one show but still have the ticket! I like to mash my pedals while listening to you. I eagerly anticipate any upcoming album. This will be the first show that I've been this close to the stage. Hope to meet & greet! See Ya in Albq!

t-ho, ty, I'm so honored, really.

And ermmmm...they do make a cream fer that itch, right? =| I'm glad yer all the way across the states from me......btw, I prolly missed it but what do you do in your job? And spending time with Joe is the BEST way to relax imo. As I told Joe once before, he's our VACATION!

Slan, I can't check your 911 link out till I get home tonight, but I will. My brother has been saying for quite some time now that we perpetrated that act on ourselves in order to have a "valid" justification to be in the war. He says some day the truth will come out.....it's so sad to think that this could be. Hopefully better times are coming.

Mckenna, nice job, as i already tole u....bends are the way to go, eh?

Out Of The Setlist: Good song to be listening to Bravest Face, reminded me I should listen to that album again. Bit cheeky the Dr.Pepper thing isn't it?!
JSPhil: As ever, good vids. That's my idea of a great few days, GP and then Joe gig! =D
marksaurs: Nice to see you mention Rory G, very underated player. Worthy of much more praise than he gets.

ZuperDave - is that the brand name for those Pickups (Texas Special Tele's)? and yeah - fingers/touch does have a lot to do with it but it aint the only thing going on. If it were there'd only be a need for one kind of amp.

Igneousiceman - so glad to see someone pick up on Rory. I've never seen anyone (Joe does come close) that always looked like he was having SO MUCH FUN while he was playing. His audiences loved him because they KNEW he gave them 110% of what he had inside him. Miss him alot too.

Hiya Mikesb,

Sorry for the misunderstanding (Phil Collins?). Anyway, I liked Mick Taylor's playing too. The Stones definitely went through a lot of changes over the years. I still like "Honky Tonk Women" from my dancing days as a kid!

Cappy--Good news! My Steve finally came out and gave me a hug! I was reminded his life changed completely when he was layed off from a company he worked for for 21 years. He has been sending out resumes online for 4 years and has been getting LUKE WARM TO NO RESPONSES. He works at The Home Depot and keeps telling me it's a survival job until he finds a document control, archive or library tech job.

Thanks for the insight into the world of Steves!

marksaurs...I'm sorry people misunderstood what I was trying to say. I understand that fingers & touch have more to do with tone than the amp. I've been playing since I was 14. And yes, the pick-ups were sold as a set from Fender called "Texas Special Tele". It was selling for around $100 new when I bought it in '95

tikimon - It's cool to see you mention Jonny Lang. I was just listening to Lie To Me in my car yesterday.

He's awesome...I saw him open for Aerosmith back in 1997, at my first concert ever. He opened for Aerosmith again at a show I saw in 1999, but then it never worked out for me to see him until last year. I think he'll be at the Experience Hendrix gig I'm going to in a few weeks, though.

slanshroom - I'm not sure I get what the point of that video is. Are they trying to say WTC7 collapsed from explosives as a way to prove that the other two towers did as well?

No one died in that collapse, so I don't see much of a conspiracy. I guess you could argue that they brought in explosives to bring it down on its own after the fires started, but so what? There were government offices there and maybe it was just a precautionary measure...I don't see what they would have needed to cover up. If the video is trying to convince people that the government orchestrated the main WTC attack, well, they would have removed all incriminating evidence from WTC7 well before then.

And lastly...that building didn't collapse until 8 hours after the other two. If it was all a conspiracy, why wouldn't they have brought that building down closer in time to the other two?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for thinking for yourself and everything...it's just that in my mind most conspiracy theories have a lot of fundamental problems.

Keniko - It's nice to hear someone else has seen Laurel Canyon. I LOVE that movie, yet I don't really know anyone else who has bothered to watch it. I have a co-worker who is practically in love with Christian Bale and I can't even really convince her to watch it...haha. Oh well.

"Eddie started playing Steve's "Luke" model through Steve's amp and he sounded just like.....Eddie."

That's so true... There's a note from Joe somewhere on T2J where he comments on the Sevilla gig he did with Steve Vai and Brian May in the early 90s. He says he and Steve played through Brian's rig but still couldn't get his tone just right. So much of it is in the fingers...

Tostado - I don't know if I can pick a favorite Porcupine Tree album...I like Fear Of A Blank Planet/Nil Recurring, In Absentia and Deadwing equally, I'd say, so I guess it'd be one of those. Their sound has changed over the years, though, and I love their older stuff too.

I've already seen the Insurgentes videos, and I've also preordered the album. I guess the album title comes from a street somewhere in Mexico...do you know where that is, specifically?

...Austin...

Michelle--Thanks for the "Mississippi Queen" video

Slanshroom--Are you an official or unofficial teacher? You made my day by educating me about guitar subteties such as volume and tone. My ears are the better for hearing softer sounds that slowly build up.

This message place is making my mind reel!! That's REEEEL! I am overwhelmed by all the great info here.... will need to retreat to get my house and head sorted.

aparently there was a bunch od information and documents in that building too or something, but i dont know, i think there sometihng up personally but thats me, there was a lot of weird stuff happening before the events, new insurance policies, the building beeing emptied for "checks" on in it, lots and lots of weird stuff, theres tons of stuff online about it, but probably never know =/

edit: its mentoned about the offices in the building, oops, and i dont know about you but i don't think a building would collapse like that from a few chair and desks on fire, the govermend lies about everything all the time
