Thanks Al, ZuperDave, lorenzo and Joe Satrini, so very much.

Now that is the kind of stuff I can't get from a book.

So either a 'strat" or an acoustic to start, at least it wasn't the Nimbus 2000 ;0).

When you were first learning, what were the major hurdles that came up and how did you get past them?

Lorenzo I enjoy rock and blues generally, but my "baby step" challenge is 1 Joe Satriani song, and then I would see what emerges. I am still at the analysis point, it also depends on if I can allocate the time which I will look at soon - I note Al's point tht 10 mins a day is better than 1 hour.

Well, Melbbourne Cup tomorrow, and US election, have a good one everyone.

Blue Moon - if I booked stuff on the internet when not drunk, does that make it worse? I reckon it does...

Are you sure you're going away for some gigs cos with the outfit requests it's sounding like a bit of a kinky gathering!

Do Th Stu - just getting to emails now.

Cheese - maybe if you & chris have a shot each before the lesson all will be calm LOL.. get Joe to have many many shots for a laugh (but I bet you it doesn't affect his playing). It will be so cool and you will have to tell the story in detail : )

Skippy Girl - I think if the goal is just one satch song in a year, and that is the out and out goal for that year I think it's more than achievable, especially if you went with a track that was based on only a few techniques. I think I'd be aiming at Midnight or Baroque or Tears in the Rain, or maybe Brother John. Outside of that there will be a lot of different techniques/notes/scales etc

So I think it depends on if that's your only goal, but also where you want to be in year two, etc.

I'm about to drop you an email...

Igneousiceman - hope you had a good day at the velodrome, and had yer video or hd recorder set for the GP ; )

Nite all

Thanks Joe for taking out the great 'Mountain' on the road! I have been digging Leslie and them for years and have been disappointed in a somewhat lack of recognition bestowed upon them for many years. Why hardly anyone steps up to the plate like you did to help them reach more fans is sad seeing what tasteful talented music and skill they possess.Leslie still sings as soulful as 1970 back around when he jammed with Hendrix! It's cool Ozzy covered 'Mississippi Queen' also on his early influences covers cd on his boxset too.Mountain definately were very heavy for their time. You guys kicked butt in Orlando the other nite for real.Thx a bunch!

Hey Cappy,

Since you really can't live without beer and I can't imbibe--make mine a Root Beer!

Michelle,

Keep sending those great vids my way.

Blue Moon,

I think you should consider a career in modeling all kinds of clothes! Just don't let it interfere with your guitar time.

WHAT'S THIS I HEAR ABOUT JOE BEING GENEROUS?

IN MY EXPERIENCE, I HAVEN'T MET A JOE WHO WASN'T GENEROUS WITH HIS TIME, TEACHING SKILLS AND AFFECTION!! MY LATE DAD, JOE 'THE ART TEACHER" WAS NO EXCEPTION!

Maritime,

Thanks for the vid of Johnny Guitar Watson. I also treated myself to vids of the wild 70s Bootsy Collins! Great stuff. It's fun to see guys who don't take themselves too seriously and have a lot of fun with music!

Good night big beautiful world!

My two cents worth on the US Prez malarkey....

During my recent hols in bonnie Scotland a barman asked me who I thought would win the US presidential election. My answer, 'Doesn't matter which one of them gets elected, one way or another we will all lose'. Sorry folks but i've got less confidence in those two than our own Prime Minister (Gordon Brown), and I have zero confidence in him!
