Al, long story but the short version is, we are having a major extension of our house and back in July the excavators etc were all there to dig the foundations of the new part, so our front yard was mud, literally, because they were going up and down our driveway and also flattened most of the front garden, and it was winter here.

I totally forgot and shot out the front door to go to work at 7 am, realised I couldn't get to my car and decided to cross some garden beds to get out. Not a good idea in super high heels, with a 20kg laptop bag and handbag. I was off work for 4 days and had to wear flats to go see Joe.

Hi to all readers. I have been diligently working on the lessons from the Satch Zone as well as trying to play songs from ITLIS as I reported in my last posting. Making steady progress. I have placed an order for the book to go with the Professor Satch album. That should be a great early Christmas present! One question for anyone who thinks they know the answer. When you dip the wang bar on the JS1000 to the point where the strings go slack what happens? Last time I tried some wild wang bar action on my Strat I got a rude shock, ie one of the stings went of with such a bang I nearly fell off my chair! Is there a secret to this technique? Any help greatly appreciated.

Dear Joe......I saw you in Kitchener Oct. 15 thanks to one of your suppliers, and a few hopeful phonecalls. My 2 buddys and I took time off from work and (in your honor), took a road trip from Toronto to Kitchener, We scored 5th row, centre..... no one was blocking my view , I had leg room and to top it all off you guys absolutely blew me (and friends) AWAY!.....whew. I became a very large G-3 fan some years ago and have been watching you play in DVD land. It must be a pretty amazing life to play what you have passion for and then give it to others. How great is that! Thank-you..........I also received a" meet n greet " with my ticket envelope that i didn't see until the next morning( or should i say, mourning) When I look back now my only acceptable consolation is that my social skills would have outweighed my acceptable lady behavior......I only had 2 words......HOLY F..................................THANK-YOU and the BAND for an unforgetable evening and D'Addario for treating us and soooo sorry I missed U - Marie........still reeeling.......................

STOOOOOOOOOO!

Good to see you man. How was the CD? Jeff, Galen, did you enjoy listening to it? :)

After the show, I mentioned I thought the solo was cut Stu.. I listened again later and it was. Bad luck that. Anyway, great to see you on T2J Stu, and yes we are actively enjoying your podcasts.

I'm in San Jose right now, first time I've been here. So at least I can tell people I "know the way to San Jose" now.

Glitz Man - Eh, without getting specific, things aren't looking all that great at work anymore. I have some vacations coming up between now and the end of the year (one of which is for my Satch road trip) but after that I think I'll be looking for a new job. I want to stay in journalism, so that'll make things tough since the industry is tanking, but we'll see what happens.

It's unfortunate, but you can only stay in a lousy situation for so long...ya know?

Powerslave214 - It's nice to see you here again... :-)
Railton - Cool cover...thanks for sharing it.
Skippygirl - I'm the tall guy in the white Satch t-shirt just to the right of where Joe's right shirt sleeve ends. Here is a link to the photo again, and here is the link to the gallery if you want to find me in the other crowd shots. My dad is standing to my left.
lorenzo001 - You can either have a pickup at the exact center of the guitar string or a 24-fret neck, but not both. Joe went with the pickup...and with the way he bends strings, he can still get the notes that would normally be at the 24th fret.
Listening to: Joe Satriani - Champagne?

I love the bit from 3:58 to 5:03...that's probably one of my top five Satch moments ever.

...Austin...

Hey Joe, i am your biggest fan, i've not yet been to one of your concerts but when i do you'll see me in the crowd (i know it). Your music is so great i am only 12 but i think that your kind of music is just brilliant, its atwist between rock and... just good music. The only place your gonna see me is in Bouremouth, England, U.K. I luv your new album but i still think that your 2006 album was the best especially crowd chant.(p.s. are you really 100ft tall?) BYE JOE HOPE 2 SEE U!

Austin - oh so THERE you are! Looks like you were having a great time.

ZuperDave - well done on the auction, afraid it was beyond my budget but I had a go.

T2J old timers - what is the Galen story? He seems to be the quiet achiever of the band, does he play with other artists etc?

I'm thinking of buying the Satchurator and some sort of Loop pedal, any thoughts?

Austin and Al - well, as we all know I know nuffin about guitar but from this amateur's arm chair it looks like the rhythm guitar Galen plays for Joe is actually quite hard - do you agree?

Does he ever record his own material or play as a more upfront guitarist?

10/25/08 Durham NC show. I won the after show passes, had my picture with Joe, talked to him for a minute or two. Was too excited to ask him anything worthwhile like: Do I hear keyboards on Out Of The Sunrise?, or compliment him on Revelation - which he so smoothed out the solo on since the CD version, nailed it. Man that song was impressive. Or: was Ghosts somehow an idea remaining from Engines Of Creation? Sounded like it could be, love the song. And didn't get a good look at his left hand, wanted to see how hard those fingertips must be, you guys shredded it up in NC. Awesome blues with Leslie, nice addition to the show. Thanks again, Tony.

DO THE STU- u got your old name back? So your telling me joe doesn't play a 24 fret guitar, he just bends the string to that pitch? If i were you i would stay out of journalism, with barak obama as president he will censor everything he doesn't like. Welcome to the new world order everybody!!!!!!!! Hail Obama!

maritime: Thanks mate, if it's all you say it is (and I'm sure it is) it's worth the relatively small amount of money it costs. I was thinking about the RC-2 anyway, how easy it to use in real life situaitons?
