So where are some good places to eat in San Fran?

There's gotta be some great Italian food there, right?

Thanks Lorenzo001,

So far, then,

buy/rent guitar
take lessons for 3 months
learn scales in all keys
check the website you gave me (will do)
check the website Roo posted (will do)
then what?

Given your experience, looking back, what model guitar would you rent/buy to start? Would you stick with it or need to change to a different model later?

At this point the first goal would be to play 1 Satch song within 1 year. I do enjoy alot of other genres and artists but you have to admit, surely if you can play one Satch song you would feel 10 ft tall? That is the first goal I am considering.

As you prolly know, people learn in different ways (audio, visual, theoretical etc.) so I need to learn something the way I learn best, which at the moment seems to be a progressive key guitar skill development and understanding of the mechanics of the instrument (I would have to know HOW the instrument makes different sounds, not just WHAT it can do, for example) teamed with as much immersion as possible to embed the learning as rapidly as possible.

The downside to my methods is immersion requires alot of time, so I would have to plan for that to happen.

GoldenGirl I think you said you are a guitar teacher? Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I figure this forum holds all the experts I am ever going to have access to, so please help if you can.

Thanks in advance.

SkippyGirl Guitar teacher? Me? Nope. I am in the same boat as you--never played, but would like to learn.

I washed out playing the violin from 4th grade into high school. My heart wasn't in it. Same with piano. I took lessons for a summer and got as far as playing "Lucy in the Sky ..." by the Beatles.

I was such a smitten Beatles fan as a grade school kid! I used to dance or march around the school play ground singing "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden."

Yaaawwwm. Time for bed. Good Night, all.

try a strat unless you have an interest in acoustics, and learn some basic chord shapes little theory few scale patterns and you'll be doing great for a start, learn some simple songs and licks to keep you goin and remember 10 minutes a day is better than 1 hour a week

most important thing for anyone who seriously wants to play is learn the notes of the fretboard, it opens up everything for the instrument, learn how the intrument works and why it makes the sounds it does

eh thats all i can think off, i havnt given a lesson in ages the last studen i had was twice my age, was rather weird

Hello all...

Michelle: If you took time to think about what I said, I was referring to 'career politicians'. Which, btw, was considered a negative term when referring to poiliticians. Good presidents were governors first. That is because, in government, the next executive (meaning you are the decision maker) step is becoming president. A senator is part of a collective, or having to get other senators to support their ideas and vote in his favors on them for them to become law. The bigger issue that I was trying to get across is all the CORRUPTION that is taking place at our expense, and on BOTH sides. While people give politicians the benefit of the doubt in that they will make decisions on our interest, I think it is now nieve to do so, especially when they are taking our money. So I have adopted a 'hostile witness' (for lack of a better term) attitude towards politicians. Especially when THEY can make the laws that YOU have to follow.

Lorenzo: Yes I know the bailout was unconstitutional.... I saw it as a bad idea from the get go.... a long with a lot of other bailouts in history. This too big to fail crap is just crap. It is a way to make us all dependent and controlled through financial means. If a person cannot run a business right, at that business goes out of existence, then that is what is suppose to happen. Because it will, cause that person to learn how to do things better and try again, make room for someone else to start another business to fulfill the same need in a better way, or show that the need by the public was not as great or changed. When those is power are abuse it, and have no consequences, then what are the options?

To whom ever mention about driving: That is not intuition.... that is observation, analysis, and logical prediction based on prior experience... I don't wait for mystical signs to help me drive, I observe the actions of those around me and make reasonable predictions as to the actions I should take under a given circumstance. I also understand the physics of the vehicle I am driving and have a resonable understanding of the physics of the vehicles around me. I also make sure that, as much as possible, I have enough room around me to give me space to use as a margin of error.... and I plan a head.... if I need to make a right turn, then I am planning to be in the right lane a mile before the turn so I don't have to make a forced move to get there at the last second.

Now, back to music....

So of those of us who were able to have a CLUB JOE experience, what did you think?

For me, it was very cool.... getting to spend more than 30secs with someone I have been listening to ever since I started playing guitar in earnest. Joe is an awesome dude.....lol. A lot of interesting questions were asked.... although I forgot to ask him about Chickenfoot.

LAter,

Skippygirl.....I would also suggest starting your journey on an acoustic guitar. I believe it will help you gain finger strength and stamina. And definately learn music theory as you go. I wish I had learned it when I started years ago because as an adult with a tinge of ADHD, I find it almost impossible now. My two cents worth ;)

GlitzMan...Thanks. I'm still waiting for Paypal to fix the issue. I'd love to find the "nerd who's never been laid" who put a bug in their system. Throw away that pocket pencil organizer and get a life already..

Just saw the gig at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, FL last night. It was my first time seeing you live. Needless to say, It is most definitely not my last! What a fabulous way to see a show! I had 3rd row and it was as if you were in my living room. I must admit, as phenomenal as you are, my dear Joe, I am a complete Jeff Campitelli fan. The evening was only made better by Jeff giving me one of his sticks at the end of the show. You wanna talk about "flying in a blue dream"??!! I still have not come back down to earth.

Thanks so much for a wonderful night. Cannot wait till your nexst stop back here!

Best regards, jackie

Lee McKenzie..... says the Ferrari camp are looking pretty gloomy with arms folded as they see Massa's title victory chances fading fast. She's also been noseying around the McLaren garage too and says Hamilton's Dad Anthony is pacing up and down speaking to nobody - not even the Pussycat Doll.
