DO THE STU- The Opeth gig was on Monday night, and i've got to admit it was a lot more impressive than i thought it was going to be, 2 fine guitarists indeed, i'll have to look out some of their stuff. I think you did mention that you were close to my family, i've been down your neck of the woods a couple of times, to the Queen Mary and is the Aquarium still there? We were forced in there one day because it was so hot outside. Good to see you've still got the Rush bug, i've been listening to them more and more lately, watched the Rio gig again the other night, fantastic stuff.

Joe I was looking for my muse and I found it by cranking up some of your tunes. Thanks so much for being such a never ending source of free flowing thought. I am practicing for eight hours a day and feel like I am reaching a plateau again. I know its cheeky to ask when your so busy but I can't pass up the chance to at least try :P. Got any tips for practice structure? Yours Curiousmoth

dantheman, I was listening to Diddly y doo dat on the way to work yesterday, and had to stop it before the song was over. When I got back in the car at the end of the day, the song was in the middle somewhere. I was thinking "What is this song? I really dig it!" I was trying to figure it out listening to it, then the diddly y doo dat part came on, and I was like OH, right...I knew that. lol!

Tiki, suspended animation is a killer cd. Tunnel Vision is my fav song on that one. I love playing it in my car because I can play it louder than in the house (without stuff vibrating off the shelves I mean). lol!

I have no sound on my feckin puter! Dunno what happened, and neither does Wavey. Maybe my sound card took a dump. Either way, I'll use his puter for the youtube thing if this one isn't fixed by then.

Maritime--I'm sure Joe is doing all he can to stay healthy. That said, I'm sure he appreciates your concern. You are so thoughtful and sweet. Also thanks for giving your statement about the electric car. What's holding things up? Tesla is the only manufacterer and dealer with REAL electric cars in the SF Bay Area, although the prices are prohibitive unless you are swimming in cash!

Tracie--Thanks for the pictures of your son, Joe and you. I think just about any kid who has the opportunity to sit down with Joe for a guitar lesson would be initially nervous from self-conciousness of "here I am with this magnificent musician....OMG!" Also thanks for the pictures of McKenna and Joe and the other fans. All I can say about driving in San Fran is "Amen!" That is one huge driving challenge and not to be done by oneself.

Igneousiceman--Thanks for your well wishes. Yes, I am feeling better. I just want this mucus coughing and sneezing to go away. I need a kleenex over my face if I feel a cough/sneeze coming on. No fun. I am sure I'm out of the contagious stage of this infection at this point.

Do The Stu--Thank you for asking about my health. I look forward to being completely well soon. I promise I will keep you posted. Thank you for your reviews of Joe's performances and the other tasty tidbits of info.

Cappy Steve--I recommend you watch the French movie, "Amelie" because it is very uplifting and shows how insane suicide is (a small part at the beginning). I agree, the news media needs to be more sensitive to human suffering. Instead of glorifying suicide, why not post helplines and sympathetic statements urging the distraught to seek help? We need to focus on helping others, not magnifying selfishness and stupidity! I hope you can see my movie recommendation. I am interested in what you get out of it, how it makes you feel.

Got to go fer now.

Love to all,

;-) Thoroughly Golden Milli; But my (late) Dad called me his Golden Girl

Skippygirl, thanks for the link to those 11 Joe interviews and also the vid of Joe with Mick, WOO WOO!!

Here's another link to the same thing, it includes all 11 segments on one page which might make it a tetch easier to navigate, plus a lil blurb from Joe about Chickenfoot....hopes are for the album out in April and tour to follow HELL YEAH!!!

vids here

I think this is one of the best interviews I've ever heard from Joe...there's so much information there, insight into his life, his family....some different stuff from the usual interview questions...love it!!

I think Joe takes after his mum and dad, sounds like they were both very smart and dedicated people :) Just think, as Joe says...so many things happened in his life that led him to where he is now...just one other turn, at any one point....and things might have been very different...we might not have had his music like we do now. Thank God for all the right turns :) I cannot even imagine a world without Joe's music in it.

Joe, I recently became aware that the sun omits a 417 tone and we are using 440, "A", to tune by. With this fact in mind in essence we are listning to distortion, or so it was stated where I learned this. Anyway, with that in mind I have set myself a project to investigate this as is it possible to tune my guitar to this to try this out. I've learned that most tuners only go down to 438. My Dad works on pianos for a living and has a tuner that will go to this but is very expensive. I'm sure that he'd let me use it though. He also told me that back in the day of Bach the music back then was almost a full note down, interesting! I've been playing around with the guitar about 32 years with only a few lessons and mostly picking up information through studying or, if fortunate, through other players. What are your thoughts on this?

Kilgelec - Chickenfoot will be Joe's next big thing...he'll finish recording that with the other guys in December and then there'll be a tour in the summer, most likely. I guess he could do a one-off solo gig somewhere between now and then, but I doubt that.

GoldenGirl2 - I saw Amelie way back in 2002...I remember thinking it was good, but I haven't seen it since then so I don't remember many details. And I know this isn't fair, but that movie has become so popular that I've lost interest in it. It's a very good movie, yes, but not quite the "OMG!!! Best movie ever!" that many people my age seem to think. But I'm picky...

It's cool that you've finally seen it... :-) What are some of your other favorite movies?

michelle - Thanks for the venue info...as cool as I think it'd be to see Chickenfoot in a small theater, I just don't think it'll happen. I bet we get venues at least as big as what Joe played on the 2004 tour with Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy. I guess it's all up to the promoters, but Joe's the little guy on this tour...the average music fan will see the band as half of Van Halen, the drummer from from RHCP, and "some guitarist whose name I can't pronounce."

Hmmm...actually, that's kinda cool. A lot of people will be in for a big surprise.

dantheman - Chords Of Life was my favorite song from SBM right when the album came out (it's still up there for me, but I don't think it'd be No. 1)...it's cool to see that you're into it.

However, I have to say that Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat is one of my least favorites from PSATMOR. So we disagree there...

REVAN 2008 - Welcome back! And yes, 40+ pages...so get reading! There'll be a quiz tomorrow morning.
campbell - Yes, the aquarium is still here...but to be honest, I've lived in Long Beach since 2001 and have never been there. I'll probably end up going shortly before I decide to move somewhere else, whenever that'll be.

When Opeth did their tour with Dream Theater, Mikael Akerfeldt gave this introduction about how they're from Sweden along with Abba, Audi, Ikea, Yngwie Malmsteen and a bunch of other things. The UK is closer to Sweden than the US, so I don't know if he repeated it at your show or not...but it was really funny.

Skippygirl - Thanks for posting that Satch interview...I had some time to watch it last night, and it's very cool.

Tracie--You are sooo right about Joe's music. Now that I have 4 of his CDs, I want more! I am looking to buy "Is there love in space" and "The Extremist".

I ALSO CAN'T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT JOE'S BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. HE AND HIS FANS ARE PROOF THERE IS A GOD. I also am glad to hear about the qualities Joe has lived and is living to keep his life together. This man is special! His sisters and brother must have some great stories to tell about their little brother! I love siblings stories! I grew up with 2 wonderful sisters and I wouldn't trade them for anything!

Do the Stu--Here are a few of the movies I like: DEAD POETS SOCIETY, LOVE ACTUALLY, THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING and AMELIE (of course). I have seen so many movies in my lifetime, it's tough to keep track. I like comedies, romantic movies (or what some people call chick flixs), fantasy movies (like LORD OF THE RINGS), documentaries, and some action movies (very picky here). I like biographies when I can find them.

Gotta go my Steve is calling. Good Night! ;-)

Maritime,

Sorry, man. I wanted to write sooner.

Yes, I enjoyed THE FULL MONTY. I remember a few WOOO, WOOOOs escaped my lips and I was lmao at the dancing and striping!! The actors were so funny and at times poignant, especially when they were out of work and struggling! Great film.

Gotta go...

Until tomorrow.
