brittanysdaddy, every1 is different. what helps me is find a song i know and like and put the cd on and just start trying to pick out the notes of riffs and the solo. i have to feel it. it is something from the soul from me. i really like the blues so i use old blues song for the starting point. the blues are simple and yet complex in the way it has soul and feeling. the chord progressions are relative easy. solos can be as simple as bending a string ala BB king or a blistering solo like albert collings. i am not a highly learned theory guy, but i have been hacking and pick for a few years and i just do it for the fun of it. there are some really technical guys on here and they may have a different perspective. i would suggest just having some fun and that is what leads me to abetter skill and understanding.

Another reference to the lovely Conch from Wolfie but are they one and the same person?
Wolfie's fav song = Big baboon
Big baboon is a song from a band called The Hooters.
The Hooters were big on the club scene in the Philly area in the eighties.
Did you say you reside in the Philly area Conch?
Hmmm, mebbe it's time for MY meds!

What's the difference between girls aged: 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58, 68 and 78?
At 8 - You take her to bed and tell her a story.
At 18 - You tell her a story and take her to bed.
At 28 - You don't need to tell her a story to take her to bed.
At 38 - She tells you a story and takes you to bed.
At 48 - You tell her a story to avoid going to bed.
At 58 - You stay in bed to avoid her story.
At 68 - If you take her to bed, that'll be a story!!
At 78 - You can get out of bed, that's another story!!!

I'm not crying now, but still sad and wondering about the next 4 years. What sacrifices are we going to be asked or told to make?
What will Obama's policy toward Canada be like? Will he embrace the rest of the world in dialog and negotiation or will he turn his back on them?

GoldenGirl2 - No one really knows what Obama is going to do with regards to foreign policy. The man only has 4 years experience...and has no foriegn experience. This is going to be a very interesting 4 years in our country. We are taking a huge gamble voting for Obama becuase he's quite simply not qualified enough to run this country. But he's a great public speaker, has a lot of charisma and raised the most money in the history of politics. So like it or not, he's our man. Regan got voted to the White House in similar fashion. He had a lot of charisma and was a great public speaker and the previous administration was not liked at all. Regan turned out to be one of the best President's we've had....so hopefully in 4 years we will be saying the same about Obama. But the whole world is going to have to wait and see what his policies really are, because there's just nothing to base an answer on. Interesting times ahead. I am personally not worried at all about our economy. American economics works on an 8 year cycle. We are in the downside of that cycle. The housing problem actually started during the Clinton Administration. This isn't something that just sprang to life this summer. The problem, is that it finally fell apart this summer. Our economy will bounce back. All the world markets are too closely connected to let a country like the United States completely collapse economically. It may take a couple more years for the housing market to adjust itself. Overinflated home values killed the market. Now almost 50 percent of the homes in America have a larger outstanding balance on them than their worth. The banks are going to eat many more mortgages before this is finally finished. But it will get itself worked out. I'm personally worried about how he's going to get our kids out of Iraq. The overwhelming majority of American's polled said they voted for Obama because of their concerns about the economy. It's probably not going to take very long before they turn their focus back to what's happening in the middle east, and hope that Obama gets us out of that situation.
I did like McCain's concession speach last night. And I agree completely. Obama is the man with the keys. It's time to get behind him and hope in 4 years we're in a much better place, both home and abroad.
Now, back to music!! Satch in Dallas tomorrow night!!
