Good Morning Satchland......How Is Everyone?

Sorry, I'm like 50 pages behind. Thanks to those who voted for us for New Group under the ac/Hot/ac category for New Music Weekly. The awards show is at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood on Nov. 22. If your interested in still casting a vote click Here and go to ac/Hot/ac and pull down for Max Cady Band. My wife Cindy and the band leaders girlfriend Patti are representing the band in Hollywood. We're all really excited and feeling pretty good about making the list.

The demo cd is finished and made copies for the club owners. We're in the process of putting a press kit together so everything is looking pretty good and I can't be happier. You can check the originals and some of the demo songs Here and Here Thanks for the support. You guys and gals are the best.

DoTheStu..... Cool Joe story on the bootleg. I too was impressed by Mountain. Leslie is singing is so strong and I was a little taken back by that. Mountain was a great opening band choice for this tour and from looking at the podcasts it's looking like there having a lot of fun.

Speaking of the podcast and in paticular the photo shoot with (Father of the solid body guitar) Mr. Les Paul. I watched his new DVD the other night and it was awesome. I would highly recommend viewing this. It's really good. The man is a frickin' legend for sure and at 90+ plus still plays a Jazz club in New York every Monday night. Scenes from that club are in Joe's recent podcast. We are truly blessed by this man.

SuperDave...... Yeah, I know what you mean about Setzer. We cover Rock This Town and Stray Cat Strut and I gotta tell you coping his shit is not easy. He's an unbelievable guitarist and doing his own thing. I was a little hesitant to cover these songs cuz' I just didn't think they go over well "Live". Man, was I wrong. People go nuts at our gigs when we play these songs. Rockabilly is not my thang but it forced me to play a style I'm not familiar with and I learned from it. It's all good.....

Have A Great Day Everyone !!!!!

Edit.....BTW....Huey wasn't that bad. I like some of his stuff

Joe, Thanks for a great show at the United Palace Theater (NYC). Petrucci showing up had me dreaming of the next G3 tour. Are there any plans in place, thoughts for the lineup, etc.? Thanks, Marty

Sad about Mitch...but as George Harrison said, 'All things must pass'. (well, it was an album really)
Keniko: Bugger, you reminded me that I missed JB...he was on near me on Monday. Oh well! Saw him in Feb so it's all good.
Right, College is now telling us 'high flying' students about how to apply to Oxford and Cambridge; thing is, we've been there about 9 weeks or so! Far too early for me to be thinking about University...imagine that though, studying medicine at Oxford....=D

Cappy>i do like ibinhads, they sound & play really well, i still have an old RG560 but the top o range models imo are way overpriced, for that sort of money you can have a custom guitar tailor made t your own specs by a top notch luthier

ibinhad "Ibanez" are also good for heavy duty dart throwin

Cappy:It depends on the parts i record or the gig, i use various guitars for different jobs my main squeeze is an old Yamaha pacifica 1221 top o range job "not t be confused with bottom of range pacificas!"customized beyond belief, they dont make em anymore, it really is an awesome guitar t play defo will be my live guitar for many years t come

Just bought a Fender YJM sig strat recently, i,m using that for most of the elec solo guitar parts on cd2.Its a weird guitar tho, great tone for recording direct but through my gear n amp the Pacifica has the edge

Custom Balladeer steel string

yamaha baby semi acoustic fitted with a fishman humbucker great for celtic stuff n live acoustic work, zero probs every gig

Classical cutaway Epiphone i,ll be gettin another classical n flamenco guitar in the next couple o years, currently scouting around Andalucia checking out luthiers

My old Ibanez 560 now fretless, all my guitars are stock & all are modded up t the max

I,d love t have my own custom job built but for now i must be patient, kinda frustrating as i,ve a ton of original ideas i,d like t see materialized

OK, here are some MP3s from the 2004 Experience Hendrix gig with Satch, Mitch Mitchell, and Billy Cox, among other people:

Manic Depression
Spanish Castle Magic
Voodoo Child

This show was at the Warfield on 2/26/04 recorded by T2Jer zonin, but I don't think he's been on the site for a while...

I don't have time to listen to the songs again so I don't remember who is on each one, but the first two are mainly just a trio (JS, MM, BC) and the last one is a big jam with those three and several other people. If you look through zonin's posts from around that time (do a search here) you should probably find info about the show...maybe someone can post it.

Satriella - Joe Satriani and "raise a joint" are also anagrams...as are Stuart Hamm and "a math strum" (or my favorite, "mama thrust"...haha).

Jeff Campitelli is "flip ice left, jam". Galen Henson is "neon hen slag".

Also, the cell phone/keys thing is an interesting idea, but it's a myth.

SuperDaveMcCarthy - Haha, no I'm not related to Huey Lewis. ;-)

Michelle--What sad news! I like to think Mitch Mitchell is in Music Heaven jamming with all the other musicians that have passed on before!

I remember meeting Keith Moon at LAX back in 1972. One of his front teeth was missing and someone in the meeting group asked if Roger Daltry hit him with his microphone. I don't remember what he said, but it made everyone laugh. I remember he was so happy to see us and signed autographs for us all. I was on cloud 9! It was very sad to hear he died 6 years later.

DoTheStu--I hear your request and will postpone my petition for rain until Sunday. Also, thanks for the review of the San Diego show. I don't have tickets to SF, but I am grateful that you will be going.

Maritime--Thanks for your links to the great Dick Dale and Jeff Beck vids.

For everyone who has tickets to the LA, Reno and SF shows--you are lights to this world!! I am grateful to each and every one of you people for your love, energy, vitality and especially your love of Joe's fantastic music! I don't have tickets to the shows, however, I have been collecting Joe's albums on CD and I know in the future I will get tickets to one of Joe's shows and get to meet some of you. I am looking forward to it. SOOOOO....Take heart GottaHaveJoe--your time will come AND Joe will be there for you!

Gotta get ready for work at the library.

Well, it's that time again. I'm off to lunch and then I'm heading up to LA for tonight's show. It's funny to think that exactly 24 hours from now I'll be 500+ miles away, traveling to another Satch gig...AGAIN. ;-)

For those of you keeping score at home, I'm picking up Al at a train station in (haha) Dublin, CA, at about 9 a.m. tomorrow. Then the craziness begins...

tikimon san>Mainly because the ideas i have are 2 radical plus kit guitars dont have the combined quality wood choices i,d be looking for let alone a neck through body guitar design.I,ve built many a kit guitar in the past, simple n fun but the skilled work of a master luthier working the ideas out your head is something entirely different its not until you sit next t one of these guys at work that you realize just how complex the making of a top notch quality elec guitar is the results are nothing short of mindblowing

Cappy:Gigs are where its at ol bro, its the only way t make cash out of this game, Cds are only good for promotional purposes, noone is going t buy a cd now over the net bar a few, specially with the torrent generation so yup i recon i can kiss goodbye t another 3grand making this puppy.Had some good news from an old friend last night tho with a possible chance of getting back on the road again touring with another act, early days yet fingers toes n other bits crossed

Good evening Satchland..

Ok..so I'm not really making a lot of money right now, so here's what I did. I bought a Satchurator Pedal with the proceeds from another pedal I'm selling. So in reality I'm breaking even. Do you think my wife will go for that one? lol..

Anyways I will definately have it for my next gig. I'm kind of excited about it..

SupaDupaDave, are all you Dave's alike, or is it just a guy thing. That's my husband's line "I sold that and just rolled that money over into this, so actually it only cost *insert minimal amount here*. Sometimes I'd like to roll HIM over and kick him up his... But then again, it's what makes him happy - the gear part, not the me kicking him up his ass part ;-) His "hobby" is starting to take over the entire basement though! lol! My nice little bar/party room has turnt into PapaLump Recording Studio. lol! I guess it's a 2fer now.

Stuart Hamm anagram - MAMA THRUST - lmao!!! I dig that one.

Austin, Al from Dublin is getting picked up in Dublin. What are the feckin odds of that ever happening? Do me a favor and kiss him smack on the lips and tell him Mark London sent ya. Don't ask why, just do it!

Cappy, those Michellica links...yer gonna piss in bed fer that! lol!

Slan, how's wee man doing? On a totally different note - "me love buckets on fire" toooo feckin funny!

Sandy, "Satchiella" sat-sheila, sat-chee-ella, sad-tree-yella, yer nuttier than a fruitcake girl. Just change yer name to Jo Gilbert and be done with it lol! Just glad yer finally happy.
