A man goes to live in a Monastery, and when he joins the head Monk tells him he has to take a vow of silence. 10 years pass without him saying a single word until one day he is summoned to the head Monk's office. "Its the tenth anniversary of your arrival here, is there anything you would like to say" " Yes" said the man, "The food here is terrible" and he turns around and walks out. 10 more years pass and again he is summoned to the Monks office. "Its been 20 years since your arrival, have you anything to say" "Yes" said the man, "My bed is rock hard" and he turns around and walks out. Another 10 years pass and once again the man is summoned to the Monks office. "Its been 30 years since you arrived, is there anything you would like to say" "Yes" said the man "Im quitting" "Probably a good idea said the Monk, you've done nothing but complain since you got here"

maritime...I'll never buy strings there again...lol. I like the owner of the store, she's very nice and always willing to help, but geezz !! I'd really like to know now what the mark-up is on everything else in the store. I played an acoustic a while back that played nice and was only $300. I wonder what she paid for it.

The instrumentals on my solo recording project were compared to the great Professor Satch... very flattering!

Of course I know better because I've been playing the guitar for 20 years... so I know no one compares to Joe, but it was a flattering comparison by a generous fan nonetheless.

To check out the works in question, Nucliess: Shades of Life, visit nucliess.com.

The instrumental tracks are track 8 (Summer Rain) and track 14 (Mid-Day Melody).

Thanks Joe for the inspiration... I guess some of it rubbed off!

js1200js1000.....I'd have to drive 350 miles one way to a Guitar Center to see any sort of signature guitars. Our local store does carry lower-end Fender, Martin, Hamer, Takamine and Yamaha guitars. Anything else would have to be "$pecial Ordered"....

After the Satch show in October, we went to the Minneapolis Guitar Center. When I asked to try out a JS-1000, the meatball with the thin tie and know-it-all attitude kind of rolled his eyes at me like I was the 100th person to come in that day and play it..lol. Needless to say, he was'nt going to earn a commision (did I spell that right?) from me. Especially with that attitude.

Today while experimenting with pedals, I realized that my Fulltone Ulitimate Octave has a louder and way better distorted sound than my Boss distortion pedal. Gotta love that Fulltone Fuzz. I think the Boss pedal is going in the closet for a back-up maybe.

I'll abuse my seniority powers and post here the review of last Friday's show in El Paso. Long post warning!

Never been inside the Plaza Theatre before, it is a very nice venue, it seemed a bit weird to see so many older people in dress slacks drinking wine and such, but I guess that's Mountain's crowd. Very first pleasant surprise was when I discovered that the venue map on Ticketmaster is way out of scale, what I thought was a 4th row seat on the left side of the stage turned out to be a 3rd row seat dead smack in the middle. Sweet!

Mountain was a very nice surprise, their music was good, Corky had a show by himself, knocking off cymbals and sending several sticks to the crowd while giving fingers to people who asked him for sticks and making faces at Leslie while he talked. Good music and fun guys, very entertaining set.

Satch rocked hard, not having seen him in 6 years and not having heard any CD's since Strange Beautiful Music, it was very refreshing to see him play 7 songs I had never heard before, highlights for me were Ghosts, Time Machine and what I think was Overdriver.

Jam at the end was extremely good, in all it was a bit over 3 hours (7:30 - 10:40) of great musicianship. And afterwards I was able to get Stu, Jeff and Satch to sign the stuff they hadn't signed 8 years ago when they were here, had a nice small chat with Jeff and got a "promise" from him they won't take 8 more years to come back.

Satch Setlist (this needs help, if you know the name of the new songs let me know): I Just Wanna Rock - Overdriver? - Ice 9 - Satch Boogie - FIABD - Ghosts - New song (sounds a bit similar to Zombie by the Cranberries) - New Song (main lick descends from high notes to low) - One Big Rush - Cool # 9 (with extended bluesy intro) - Time Machine (with extended spacey intro) - Bass Solo (Goin' to California and his regular riff) - Andalucia - Always.. - Surfin.. ENCORE: Crowd Chant - Summer Song - Stormy Monday (Leslie West) - Goin Down (Leslie West).

Al / Blue_Moon should be landing in San Francisco any minute now...I wonder how many plane people he's managed to annoy. ;-)

Mahavishnu - Jonny Lang is great...his last two albums have focused a bit more on his vocals than his guitar playing, but check out his first two (Lie To Me and Wander This World). I first saw him back in 1997, opening for Aerosmith when he was 16.

I do remember Ty Oliver...thanks for that link.

MaRcO7 - We don't know a specific date, but I think it's safe to say we'll get it before Christmas.
dartvader - Joe probably used a Dunlop Crybaby 535Q wah on Summer Song, but he's using a prototype of his own signature wah on the road right now...
maritime - I saw video of Joe's pedalboard in one of his podcasts (or maybe it was one of Stu's YouTube videos)...he only has on Boss delay pedal there now. So the Time Machine has replaced one of 'em.
campbell - It's cool to see you here again...how's married life? Do you have any photos you can share with us?
elpp - You were correct on Overdriver. The two songs you're missing are (Zombie) Revelation, from his newest album, and Super Colossal.

Thanks for sharing your review. How's life going otherwise? I hope you're doing well.

Listening to: Lacuna Coil - Unleashed Memories (current song: Distant Sun)

What to spend it on.....

I currently have a Zoom GFX 5 and GFX 8. Should I stick with the Zoom's or splash out for an upgrade? It will be running through a JSX combo.

Satriella: To answer your question; jalapeņo peppers are chili peppers that has a warm to a burning hot sensation when eaten. By the way, I like your name change. How are things going for you in the United Kingdom?

death cube k: Hey man! How are things up in Manitoba? It is getting cold, but the temperatures should warm up in the next few days here. What do I do for fun? Well, I do a lot of running. I am with a local Track Club and we do a lot of road races. One of my goals is to do a full-marathon and do marathons in Boston, Chicago, New York, and even marathons from different parts of the world. Besides running, I like to hang out with family and friends, dance, and listen to music. I am eclectic when it comes to music.

GhostriderII: Welcome to the fan site. I became a fan of Joe since last year. I like all of his songs. Do you have a favorite?

tikimon: Thank you for the support on my 5K Run. By the way, I do drink (sometimes). For beer, I like Corona and Oberon. My best friend got me into some wine, which was awesome. Cocktail wise, I would say Vodka with Cranberry.

michelle and cheese 101 (T): Congrats on making it on to the podcast. That is totally awesome!!!

js1200js1000: What's up in Canada? Hope you and your Mom are doing well. I visited my Mom earlier today. I went out to see her and I started wrapping my Christmas gifts for my family and friends. I should be done real soon.

Do the Stu: Hope the concerts are going well, as well as your road trips.

Well, I gotta run. See you later guys!!!

Howdy Y'all...

This afternoon I learned the rhythm & lead parts for "Ten Words"....most certainly one of his easiest to follow if you have a good ear. Not bad for never taking a single lesson if I do say so myself...lol. "Super Colossal" has made it's way to the top of my list. OK maybe it's tied with "Crystal Planet, but I just love SC...awesome album.

Irish Barack O'Bama - lmmfao!! Friggin' priceless! I'm gonna torment the hell outta McKenna with that one! lol!

My son and I went to Arby's to pick up some food tonight. We were listening to Luminous Flesh Giant, and I was drumming on the steering wheel. I said to my son "Get ready for the cymbal part!" because of course I have to hit the cymbal away from the wheel and I love that part. lol! I always quiz my kids on music, so he turned the tables on me and said "Name that cymbal!". In my retarded glory I said "Betty". lmao! He says "It's a ride!" I tole him "yeah, Betty Ride!" Not to be confused with Ride, Sally, Ride. LOL!

YAY! Ally has landed! Let the pillaging begin!

OMG--Maritime---That "I got a Crush on Obama" vid was sooo funny. I can imagine Michelle Obama and the Obama girls laughing like crazy over that one!

McKenna has to see the Irish Obama vid!! I would love to see/hear his reaction!

CappySteve--Thanks for the Bush in the White House joke!!

Satriella---You are a gem of worth beyond what I could say or think.

Campbell--Did you have a proper Scottish wedding? I wish you happiness in your marriage. In my experience, it takes a lot of work, but it is so worth it.

guitarjanitor--I'm am so sorry to hear about your loss! Would you like me to pray for the safe return of your precious buddies? I hope you keep the faith. Dear beloved Canadian neighbor. My heart goes out to you!

Michelle and Tracie--I hope you both hear from McKenna in whatever form of communication he can provide. My thoughts are with him for safe and happy travels.

God Bless.
