Guitarman77897--It doesn't surprise me that you ceased to have pain while playing guitar. Guitars are super therapists and they take you to a 'place" where no hurt exists.

Slanshroom--I thought dangling bits were supposed to be kept in a supportive cup while exercising in martial arts. Well...I just learned something new and very different!! I don't think I will try the Shaolin way on my boobs, thank you very much!!

Igneousiceman--Great Jackson Browne music. I enjoyed hearing "Barricades of Heaven."

Cappy--You are a man of many talents. I hope your knees recover their flexibility.

Mikesb--I'm LMAO right along with you!! ;-P

Tostado--Yes. You bring up a good question for Joe. I'm sure he would briefly tell you the story of he and his wife and what attracted him to her and her to him. What attracts one to one's future/present spouse is a curious thing and fascinates me no end.

Michelle--I hadn't heard of TWLOHA until you brought it up. What a great way to affirm that we are valuable and precious because someone loves us--ourselves!! What sweet thoughts you have sent my way!! Thanks a MILLIon!! You are the goddess of this message board---here are some angels going your way=========A Train of Angels by Joe and "Your My Angel" .....as Steven Tyler sings..."Come and save me tonight......" Also Congratulations to your Chris who won a guitar lesson with Joe!! What a dream come true!

GGirl, I think of myself as more of a silly cow than a Goddess, but I guess cows are sacred in some cultures, so round it goes. lol! Chris, who won the lesson, is Tracie's (cheese 101) son. My son is a bass player. I'm thinking that if anyone should get major kudos, it should be Tracie. She did so many things to get all her lil' ducklings to those 2 Satch shows - and she now has a feckin' Irish accent to boot! lmao! I don't know where she finds the time or the energy. She's the Goddess of T2J IMO. If she would have had internet access over this past week, she prolly would have replied to yer posts just as I did. Thanks for the nice words. I know the twloha deal is mostly oriented to teens, but as we know, no matter how old you are, yer sometimes still fighting the same demons you had back in the day.

T-Bone is on her 9 hour drive home. She has a bit to go yet, and still hasn't gotten to that dreaded pass. She wanted to get past that point before dark, but at last text, she wasn't there yet and the sun was setting.

T. Safley drives Safely on Wednesdays!!!

wow 4 pages to catch up on. sounds like it was a very good time in cali. slansh, i love all of the jkd ideas. i lean towards the kali/wingchun/silat ideas for self defense. btw pekiti tersia is way flipping cool. i have some seminar hours with it. i have done some serrada, doce pares, balentwak , and lameco as well as inosanto/lacoste kali. very pactical due to the fact tha the weapons movements are the same as empty hand. when i am sparring in the school we also use muhy thai and jujitsu and shooto. the ground game is important also alto i wouldn't want to be on the ground when there were multiple opponets. being a superfoot system instructor, i also like to kickbox. there are some good practial basics of fighting to be had there and then use the absorb and adapt principles to make it work for self defense. i am a very zen fighter, something is presented and i react to it or i cause something to happen and flow through it. as for real fighting..i hope i never have to but if i can't talk out of it or walk away from it i will do what must be done especially if i am protecting the wife, family or dear friends. when i refer to fighting, it is always in the school and the upper ranks do like to playhard occasionaly. the hard play is where really useful and practical techniques come out. when we are sone we go drink some beer and talk about it. some people just want to learn an MA and don't really get the zen side of it. i will give mr clark a listen since you and the cappybeerman say it is good. on the distortion pedals, i played on a proco rat for years. never found anything else i liked and i looked a tons of them. i gave the saturator a try and instantly knew i wanted 1. i have also tried steve vai's gemini and it is very good also but as i already have the satchurator, i really can't justify buying 1. altho i could run it thru the fender twin and the satchurator thru the legacy. hmmmmmmm use and a/b switch and i just may have something.

Me and my friend were two of the five people standing bu your bus when you left. THANK YOU SO MUCH for stopping and signing autographs and taking pictures. This message is for cheese101, I read your post about lessons that you got for Chris and I am trying to find out how to do the same for our son. If you could share any information in regards to how you were able make that happen, would be great. We are wanting to do the same for his graduation gift. Whatever info you can share would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks so much

Anyone at the SF show last Saturday night remember the song list in the order played? I took a friend to the show and he wasn't real familiar with Joe's music. He was however, blown away by the performance and wanted to know what songs were played. All I can remember is that it started with 'I Just Wanna Rock' and ended with 'Summer Song'.

I remember these:

Overdriver, Andulusia, One Big Rush, Flying In A Blue Dream, Time, Satch Boogie, Always With Me........., Ghosts, Surfing With The Alien

I know I'm missing a few songs. If anyone who went to the SF show can help me fill in the blanks and what order they were played, it would be greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone got a chance to see Joe on this year's tour.

Hey I went to the WarField show, it was great, I was right up front.

So i have practicing the modes on the guitar. I play each mode in each key all over the fret board. Once i get them memorized i play with a jam track in each key. Is this a good way to practice? I want to be able to be free in my playing, to express myself and not be guessing the key. I hope to be able to play music for my career so I practice 3-4 hours a day.

Thanks Joe i love your playing and it has inspired me to become a better guitar player.

windrunner, I can tell u the songs, but not the exact order, I'm not firing on all brain cells at the moment, lol. Oh, and Joe didn't play "Time" at all....he played:

I Just Wanna Rock, Overdriver, One Big Rush, Satch Boogie, Time Machine, Andalusia, Revelation, Summer Song, Crowd Chant, Super Colossal, Flying in a Blue Dream, Ice 9, Surfin With the Alien, Always With Me Always With You, Ghosts, Cool #9. I think that's it, with the exception of Stu's bass solo, and of course the jam songs with Leslie West :)

Fantastic show eh?

JeffsMom2, well, I'll tell you how it happened. It was one fantastic lesson with Joe, and it happened because I won/paid for a charity auction on ebay. Joe donated his time for a good cause, it was auctioned off and I was the lucky winner. I guess Joe does this now and again, as his schedule allows, but you should know, usually his lessons go for quite a bit of money. As you can imagine, it's a dream come true for lots of guitar players out there who love Joe, so the bidding can get intense...I still don't know how we got so darn lucky on this one, but there you have it. I guess all you can do is keep your eyes and ears open for another opportunity like that to present itself some day.

That's awesome what you're trying to do for your son! I might also suggest that, even though it probably won't be in time for his graduation, you could consider doing the Club Joe tickets the next time Joe does a solo or G3 tour...your son would get to do a meet and greet, question and answer period with Joe and the other Club Joe folks, get autographs and pictures taken, and then get to see a fantastic show!! He just finished his North American tour, but may be headed to Asia next year, if u wanna travel that far, lol....and then there's the Chickenfoot project with a possible tour on that, but I have no idea if Joe will be doing any Club Joe tickets for that or not. We'll all have to wait and see what happens! Good luck with doing something so special for your son....and believe me....Joe is well worth it and a wonderful person for your son to look up to!

Would someone give me a push to go to bed? GEEZ!!!

Thanks cheese. You jogged my memory. You're right about 'Time'; my mistake. I meant 'Time Machine'.

It was a fantastic show. I was kinda hoping he would play a little longer, since it was the last show in front of the home crowd. But hey, I'm sure it has been a long year.

maritime:Fair enough but i consider this a free thinking forum and place where all kinds of people with different backgounds & convo take place which is why i like t visit, if it was just music talk here i,d have got bored & left the building a long time ago however

a Q for you & tikimon on the satch pedal. Is the boost function kind of like the effect of having 2 Dist pedals in line with each other with different volume settings or does it vary the tone significantly, i,m thinking about ordering one but i feel the Jason Becker pedal demo,d here by Rusty Cooley may win the draw

slansh, if i understand the "boost" you are talking about it is the "more" button. it sounds to me as if it is just some volume gain and a small amount of more distortion for stepping the solo out just a little more. i believe joe explains it in his promo vid.
