thanks for all the input on the compressor thing. i guess i am going to look into them. another prolly "doh" question is, do you run it b4 or after the other pedal except in the slansh's case where he runs mulitple? i might even try that too. i love fiddling with my sound and nothing is sacred to me so i might try just about anything. the true by pass thing was an interesting read BUT, most of us don.t use 2' cables between our pedals. i have 6" little patch cables and keep everything nice and neat.

happy thanksgiving to all who do this. i have a bird and some fresh veggies going on and the house smells fabulous. already into the tiki drinkies too. salud to you all!!! todays drinks are the tropical itch(no rash cream needed) 1oz of vodka, 1oz of rum, 1/2oz of triple sec and 4oz of passion fruit nectar. mmmmmmmmm. next is the ever popular banana daquiri. 1oz of rum, 3oz of cream of coconut, 1oz cream de cacao, 1 whole banana, 4oz of pineapple juice. put it all in a blender and viola. all you need is a little paper umbrella. mix these with a guitar and you have some BIG fun.

listening to lyle lovett and his large band live in austin. next is the clash, london calling.

Hello everybody! Happy Thanksgiving Joe and to everyone!

I did a four-mile race this morning. I placed in the top 50 out of 800+.

Does anybody watch "Deal or No Deal"? I like that show a lot. I saw it last night and a lady from Minnesota took a deal of $260,000. Pretty good don't you think? When they opened her case to reveal what she could of won, she had 2 Million. I was dumbfounded and fell to the floor. I felt so bad for her. Anyway, watch the show when you get a chance.

Do the Stu: That is awesome to see the Black Crowes. That makes two of us because I have to work Thanksgiving as well. Christmas is in question.

SuperDaveMcCarthy: Hang in there man. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your family. Prayers to you and your family.

Skippygirl, roo, and to all the Aussies: Good day mates and Happy Thanksgiving. What's the weather like down there? I would like to visit Australia sometime, as well as Canada, and Europe.

Well, gotta go. I have to take care of a couple of things and then get ready for work.

Happy Thanksgiving Joe and Everyone!

HI This msg is basically for Mr. Joe Satriani. Mr. Joe was my first ever idol and inspiration when i started playing. Basically I started playing guitar at the age of 10-11 when i was forced by my mother. At that time i was not at all interested in guitar. I remember finding joe's album 'The Extremist' on one the cds my uncle gave me. That was when i learned that guitar is with infinite knowledge. That's when i started learning and playing leads. Before that i was stuck with the plain ol rhythmn. I used to play Hymns at the morning assembly in my school. There were some other guys who also used to play guitar and it became like a comprtition who'd learn a lead faster. basically i was the first at my school to introduce rock and metal at my school and was also the first to start stage antiques in my school. i recently bought the ibanez jem jr. I was thinking more of getting Joe's model but I was short with money So i bought Steve VAi's instead. My dream is to play with Mr. Satriani once in my life time and i will play with him. I'm working hard on learning guitar and making music at my place. Maybe a time could come that i'll jam with Joe Satriani himself. Hail to the Guru Namaste

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I have to work (think of me when you're reading your local newspaper tomorrow morning), but I hope everyone else has a nice day off.

Cappy Steve - I agree it depends on the situation, but had this guy not done what he did he'd still be alive...regardless of whether he ran into a nice cop or a mean cop. I guess my point was that he could have controlled the situation if he wanted to.

Anyway, this is a bit of a tangent so I'll leave it...

loll - I bought the Rush DVD the other day but I haven't had time to watch it. Maybe I'll get to that tonight after work...
cheese101 - Ah, it's nice to know that the robot guy (or at least another person doing the same thing) is still going in SF. I haven't been to that part of the city in about three years, but I do remember him...hehe.
michelle - The U2 thing I mentioned, Under A Blood Red Sky, is actually a re-release of a concert at Red Rocks in Colorado from 1983. It's a package with a CD and DVD...the CD is only 35 minutes or so, but the DVD is pretty much the full concert (almost 90 minutes). So that'd fit into your "old" U2...buy it! ;-)
Listening to: The Police - De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da

I'm not listening to Alice's Restaurant because KLOS isn't doing that this year for some reason...boo! Maybe they changed the time or something...oh well.

Happy Thanksgiving anyway...

...Austin...

Happy Thanksgiving to all the american folk......sorry to hear Do the Stu that you're not going to have a day off...prob the only guy in the whole of the states!!

Got a copy of Chinese Democracy for my birthday, and I'm very pleasantly surprised. I wasn't a fan really the first time round but I'm finding it very listenable. When Axl keeps his vocals in the lower ranges, he really does have a nice voice. I can't stand all that nasal vocal screeching in the higher ranges though...

Riviera_Grande: Check out the "Road" section for the tour just completed.

I saw Joe at the Metro (Sydney) in 1995 and also Melbourne shows, plus an in-stoore private jam at Allans in Melbourne that day, that was awesome. I met Joe three times over 2 days, After show in Sydney, on the plane and we chatted for a while, and at the in-store at Allans.

Then I missed G3 - had a massive deal on at work and couldn't get away, so pissed at that, we also lost the deal, so it was a double loss.

Then in 2006 he did the ITLIS tour, only got to the Enmore in Sydney for that, but got backstage and met up with Matt/Jeff/Galen and Joe again. Got to really meet Mick for the first time then.

Then this year I went to the Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane shows, got to catch up with Joe again 3 times. Thank you so much Joe, Mick, Galen, Stu, Jeff - you guys rock.

At the Brisbane show my friend couldn't make it, so I had a spare aftershow pass, I gave it to a guy next to me after we were talking for a while and he said "it would be insane to meet the guy, but how the hell do you get the opportunity?"

Unfortunately, since then I have collected probably another 20 or more unique items I didn't have for my collection, so there more left to sign Joe LOL!

So to answer your question, YES Joe has really come to Australia, and yes it was insane to see him play live. There is no other experience close. The Albums are awesome, and the bootlegs and live dvds etc, but LIVE is the BEST without a doubt. You completely get pwned by the music! LOL

Riviera_Grande - you sound like you've been bittten by the Joe Bug like the rest of us hehe. I am sure you will be 18 by the time Joe tours here again so save your pennies to get on the Spirit and come across.

mjs99 - your wife met Joe??? Wow, I need to catch up with you guys on the next tour - it would be great to have other women to chat about Joe with and enjoy the show/s.

Glitzy you are a legend. I struggled around the oval this morning at 5.45 am - I must have hit a 2 week-mark wall or something but I had Joe and SWTA in my ears to get me round as best I could - when does the freaking fitness start to improve?????? If it was basketball I'd be fine but running - ugh.

fatape - you sound like a very happy man, good onya.

Morning roo!!

Question for you, how do you know if a CD is a "real" CD i.e. pressed by a publisher or someone genuine, as opposed to a CD-R where somebody has just copied the mp3 and the CD liner?

Skippygirl: why, what cd can you send me? :)

Seriously, If we discount the obvious fakes, then it used to be easy, but it's quite a lot harder now.

Some bootlegs were produced by backyard boys anyway (I think "Cotton pickin" was made up by someone who got a copy of an original Cotton Club and wanted to make a cover for it. And I think "Joe goes to war" was only ever on a second rate production in cardboard sleeves), and I believe some of the originals were mailed around as CDRs and some guy later made up the slips and had them professionally produced to resell. So it really depends what you are looking for.

In the past it was sight unseen ordered off a mailing list, but I pretty much got exactly what I expected each time, no bad experience. Now with ebay, and so many smart counterfeiters out there, I can probably say I don't really care about original originals, As long as I get a cd that looks professionally produced, then I'm happy. And it has to be a recording that I preferrably don't have. I know for instance that "Luminous Guitar Giant" and a few others were only ever produced in a very small batch as CDR with stick-on cd labels. That is the original original anything that looks more professional and is called that is a copy!

Hope that answers your question.

Roo

Happy Thanksgiving Satchland,

Railton--Jimi Hendrix started it all for the guitar as a lead vocal instrument. Let me add my gratitude for Hendrix as well. What a way to inspire a guitar hero in the making! AND JOE DEFIED DEATH (HENDRIX'S) BY PICKING UP THE AXE AND CONTINUING A TRIBUTE THAT MAKES GUITAR HEROS IMMORTAL!!!!!!!!

THAT IS WHY HE IS CALLED ST. JOSEPH!!!

Maritime--Thank you for JOHN PETRUCCI's Rig Demo. The equipment used with the electric guitar blows my mind!!

Tracie & Michelle--Happy Happy Thanksgiving to you great goddesses of the message board!!

Do The Stu--I'm glad to hear that rock n roll radio stations are thriving in your listener area. I don't suppose KRLA, Pasadena still exists, does it? Thanks for your tips on police/security guard etiquette/behaving responsibly.
