Skippygirl - Thank you, you speak Bahasa Indonesia very well! My favourite one is the self-titled (1995), and it was also my first. It couldn't be easier to be Joe's fan, all I have to do is purchase every record/video of his, and masterpiece is all I receive. Very nice to know you.

Dear Joe Satriani, I'm 42 years old. I'm a guitar player and I was one of your first and great fans. I like your music, your sound, your great intelligence (the way you analyseand think music and what you're doing : modes, impro, relations between harmonization and improvisation, and so). You're a great pedgogue and I supposed very open minded. BUT, BUT,BUT What happened ? What the hell dis you do with COLDPLAY Do you need money to attack them the way you did.. for what ???!!! I was very disappointed whent I discovered (today) reading the journal that you where attacking Coldplay in justice... For what ?? Because you think they copied a little piece of an insignifiant melody that anybody could have composed (even me !!!) I'm sure lots and lots of people already compposed this kind of melody. Are you gone a attack them if one day you find it looks like a fragment of your songs ??!! Crazy thing, this thing you've done. Moreover, the musil arrangements of Coldplay are much more interesting that the melody itself and the interest of their song is far away from this melody !! Well, I love your music and I love Coldplay's music. I'm sure that many composers can find that simple melodies look like a melody composed by others... So, what's the problem here with Coldplay ??? Their song is not the same as yours at all.... only this little piece of very simple melody that anybody could have whistled one day in the morning under the shower... Very strange for someone who had a reflexion about the art of composing and who knows how a composer can be influenced by other composers... to attack for that !!! I repeat the melody you think Colplay stole from you is a banal little piece of melody. Maybe, they were influenced by you without knowing it. Maybe, YOU were influenced by another artist without knowing that. Hey, Mr JOE come back on Earth !!! Play your great music and forget the mad money world...Come back to your roots... I'm really shocked by this crazy thing you did... Very disappointed. I'm SURE I won't buy any CD from you now : I'm clearly disgusted by the attitude. WHAT A PITY... Hope you won't win and hope Colplay will not suffer from this incredible attack... ZOLVAISAT A fan of Steve VAI / VAN HALEN / Very disappointed by JOE SATRIANI... Sorry for my English (i'm from France)

ZOLVASHIT- you sound very stupid. you obviously don't know anything about copyright law. i don't either but i know that intelectual property is not for the taking. it takes a keen knowledge to compose music. something u don't understand. maybe you beleive that stealing is O.K. go back to your coldplay website and cry there. you are a pompous ass.

ZOLVAISAT, of course you are entitled to your opinion, but there are two problems with your argument,

1. you are wrong

2. you are french

you need to read into the statements to see why Joe is pursuing this, it is not money motivated. it is protecting his own creation.

so what if you don't buy any more of Joe's stuff, you'll be the one missing out, not him.

au revoir mon petite grande

this brings to mind the Who song where it says we don't have an original idea. we always repeat what weve heard before. help me people.

Hi Joe! I just wanted to congratulate you on your stuff with coldplay. To me it's obvious that they've taken your melody (and I don't blame them for it - it's great) and their music is pretty bland, so I can see why they'd give up trying to be creative themselves. I think it's quite remarkable that even though coldplay are a british band, over here in britain the newspapers and radio are still backing you up. :)

Good luck and I hope it all goes well for you, ACI

Ahh coldplay fans, the only reason they attack joe is because they like coldplay, even tho they know they totally ripped him off, the music theory video says there are 3 parts to a song, the melody (copied) the rythm (copied) and harmony. 2/3 of the song is copied HOW CAN YOU DENY THAT THEY DIDN'T COPY HIM!?!?!. proofs all in the videos. I think coldplay knows they're screwed. they should just suck it up and pay the price, they should be able to afford it right? unless they suck so much they can't sell a single album, or non-copyright infringed song. I mean they stole from, Ashlee Simpson, Radiohead, Creaky Board, and JOE SATRIANI.

If the coldplay fans would just listen to some of his music they would get into him. listen to summersong or surfing with the alien, any of his hreat hits. I mean If the first song they hear is like woodstok jam I guess I can understand, but if they listen to Satch Boogie they can;t not like him.

COLDPLAY SUCKS SATRIANI RULES

Skippygirl - LOL they made me laugh...I love the rain one...we sit around watching them die...haha

goldengirl - glad you laffin!

A happy, little fly was buzzing around a barn one day, when she happened upon a large pile of fresh horse manure. Since it had been hours since her last meal and she was feeling hunger pains, she flew down to the irresistible delicacy and began to munch out. She ate. And ate... and then... she ate some more!!!

Finally, she decided she'd had plenty. She washed her face with her tiny front legs, belched a few times, then attempted to fly away. But alas...she had pigged out far too much and could not get off the ground.

She looked around wondering what to do about this unpleasant situation when she spotted a pitchfork leaning upright against the barn wall.

She'd found a solution. She thought if she could just become airborne she'd be able to fly again. So, she painstakingly, climbed to the top of the handle. Once there, she took a deep breath, spread her tiny fly wings, and leaped confidently into the air.

She dropped like a rock and splattered all over the floor! Dead Fly.

The moral of this sad story?

Never fly off the handle when you know you're full of shit.

---------------------------------

The other night I was invited out for a night with "the girls."

I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easy. Around 3 a.m., a bit loaded, I headed for home.

Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up and cuckooed 3 times.

Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution (even when totally smashed), in order to escape a possible conflict with him.

The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, and I told him "Midnight". He didn't seem pissed off at all.

Whew! Got away with that one!

Then he said, "We need a new cuckoo clock." When I asked him why, he said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, "Oh sh!t.", cuckooed 4 more times, cleared it's throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted."

You know, if you want to find all performances of a song, what concerts, which bootlegs, etc, you find the song in the index, or on the album and click on the song information link.

For example: Midnight

That tells you a bit about the song, and all performances and cds.

Note how Surf on this earth and elysee montmartre both also show rubina? Click on the track number for those and you'll note the track has both songs one after the other, on the one track.

ZOLVAISAT:Its about protecting what is your own or in this case what Joe believes to be his, imo someone in Coldplay has heard the melody & subconsciously thought it a great vocal line t use "at least thats what i,d like t believe"

I,ve always believed being rid of an enemy is to live with it, going through the nasty options is not in the best interest i feel for Joe

On the one hand i,d like to think Coldplay would invite Joe up on stage t play the melody with his vocals for a gig, that way it kills the situation stone dead...call me a dreamer...

On the other it may be like leading the lamb t the slaughter, but i think even Coldplay fans would agree a live version of Joe & Coldplay playing the track would be twice as potent plus make TWICE as much bucks!!! slan nudges sony n emi

fuck the court lawyers etc, if Coldplay have enough about them as human beings/musicians its the LEAST they could offer Joe

If they dont....well....Satans scaley pecker is always in need of a good suck

Cube, the lawyers win. other than that, you know, the old adage, anything to get/keep your name in the news is good publicity. Not saying pub is what Joe is after here, but I am betting there have been a few more sales of ITLIS and the tune. Anyone who as ever sat down and chatted to Joe (as I was fortunate enough to do) knows he is a man of class and integrity even if he drops an occasional F-Bomb!!!!

Jaysus maritime its gonna be -20 something celsius in Calgary later today and colder tomorrow!!!! Shoulda brought my blades!!!! (sorry, mine are hockey blades)...

Chadley, if you are in cowtown today, my bros 50th celebration is at Kit's on 16th starting at 19:00.... Should be a blast. This is the same bro (Robin) who told me the last Joe show in Calgary was the best show he has ever seen. There, that keeps the whole subject on-topic. Over and out
