maritime, been to Amsterdam three times, the longest stay being for 4 days. Loved it BUT loved the rest of the country more!!! (well maybe not Rotterdam) Brought my kids to Madurodam, (miniature village)they loved it. Loved the seacoast town near the "royals" summer palace excuse my memory Sheveningen or something like that? Of course when I made my first trip back in 1985 I thought you guys had the coolest most modern airport , Schipol, I had ever seen. In 1985 with strong Canadian currency CD shopping in Amsterdam was AWESOME.....Maybe it was on my second trip a couple of years later. My mind is going.....

after a busy morning insulting coldplay fans I have found myself asking the question; why does JS stand out above all the other artists/bands that I like? the answer is He is UNIQUE. no one else can combine technical skill and knowledge and still pack every single ounce of their emotion into each and every piece they create. does anyone know exactly how many days, hours and minutes worth of music satch has recorded over the years? I would like to know if they would fill an i-pod !! love ya Joe, keep your chin up

A funny little story about an incident in Amsterdam.

Some years ago my wife and daughter came to visit me there and one afternoon we were walking along when I noticed a HUGE black man loitering in a shop doorway up ahead. Sure enough when he noticed us he eased away from the wall and started angling towards us. I made sure I was nearest to him and whispered to the wife that if anything kicked off she should just get our little girl to safety. Looking forward again I see the behemoth getting closer and closer with a look of grim determination on his face, as he was almost upon us he started leaning in towards me and I was like a coiled spring, every fibre in my body ready to fight to the death to ensure the safety of my wife and child. As we came level I maintained eye contact to get a clue as to when he would make his move and then he whispered in a voice so deep it seemed like it had come all the way from his boots .....

"Some dope?"

No thanks I said, i'm with the family. OK man, peace he said and ambled on his merry way.

I nearly pissed myself with relief!

Austin - Nice to hear/see from you too. It appears you're doing well and have your life started and well on its way. Very cool! My oldest son is nearing 15 with school, guitar, mountain biking, and cross country (the season just ended) being his life at this point. It all keeps him busy which is good at this age (time for girls later). Thanks for asking. All is good. Just having a blast going through time. It's funny and a trip how priorities change along the way. Wish I could check in here a bit more like 5+ years ago, but that's the way it goes. Noticed your "Live In S. F." mention - my kids like to look for the glimpses of me too. That was a great 2 days! Satch is still huge at our house and we've told him so a few times. Workouts, housework, traveling, and good old down-time are much better with some Joe cranking! Joe & Rush are the universal tunes in this place that we all love (although my wife prefers Joe much more than Rush, but she goes with it (& gets dragged along to 2-3 shows a tour, ha)) with all kinds of other stuff playing in between. Music is the best! Roy Rogers was a great show. He is fantastic! He thanked us 2 or 3 times for supporting live music which was cool. As did his drummer when he stopped by to join us. Definitely and sadly there is a big drop in folks actually putting down their remotes and leaving the house to go to a concert of musicians that actually play real instruments. In the past month we've been to a Buckethead show and a Giles Apap (amazing violinist) show and both were just over half full with their respective audiences. Take care and "Keep On Rockin'" (with G3 of course)!

oh, but isn't it already? I'm thinkin whatever yer having, plus whatever Dave's amp is putting out, might mellow things out, LOL....

Sigh.....listening to Is There Love in Space?, current song Up in Flames.....

Such a rockin record Joe, love it bunches!! Might get me through the morning :) And I love when Jeff gives a "WOOO" at the beginning of Hands in the Air, lol!

PS. OMG LOVE the high thick whammy scream you do on this song Joe, LOL....just had to come back to say that, cuz it just happened really loud in my headphones :)

And another PS, edit....had to fix this post cuz I originally posted Hands in the Air as Joe's opening song on his 2004/2005 An Evening With Joe Satriani tour....but that's WRONG ffs...had a tarded moment there....it was Up in the Sky....fantastic opening song!! Now, back to my tard-dom....

I've said before how much I like ITLIS and although the reason for the extra publicity is sad, i'm hoping it will get a much wider airing now. I was an instant convert to Joe's music from the very first listen. I now have most of his back catalogue and with a bit of luck many more will be inspired by Joe the musician AND Joe the man.

I repeat myself, and I would suggest "Flying in a Blue Dream" as your next target. That was my first "Satch" CD. There's a lot of singing in it, but you will love it as much as I do.

What a great performance must have been ! I've tried "Satriani Ventura Searching" in the utube, without success :-(((

I haven`t said anything about the Coldplay stuff until now, that I've read your words about how you felt when you first heard "Viva la Vida". As someone has said, I don't want a sad Joe. All my support goes to you. I wish everything finishes quickly and successfully for you.

What's up everyone? I hope everyone is doing well. I am enjoying my day off today, but I am battling a bit of a cold. I am doing better.

Work is going well. We had two Christmas parties last Saturday, which went really well. One of the businesses came to our new Holiday Inn Hotel instead of the Hilton's, my old full-time job. After the parties were over, I jammed with of my friends at his place and played Rockband 2. AWESOME!!! After that, went to bed at 3 A.M., got up at 4 A.M., and was at work by around 5 to 5:30 A.M. to serve in the restaurant.

All right, time to check on you Satchfolks.

Do The Stu: Glad to hear you are all caught up. Now it is my turn. How are things going with you? I know you have been pretty busy. I have been busy non-stop myself.

JS_JS: I started listening to Joe back a year ago, so I don't know which of Joe's songs should have won a Grammy. I will just say that all of them should have had a grammy because they are all excellent. What's new with you?

SuperDaveMcCarthy: Yeah, I believe you have beaten me. I am getting over a dry mouth, cough, and sore throat. I have had it for about three days now, but I should be over it soon. How is everything going for you? Hope the trip to the doctor went well. How is your family doing?

js1200js1000 & death cube k: What's up my Canadians? Is it getting cold up there?

Cheese 101: Thank you for the information regarding this whole Joe & Coldplay case. No matter what the outcome is, I am behind Joe 1,000,000%. How are things going with you and the family? Any sammishes?

michelle: I can't wait for Chickenfoot!!! I heard that there should be an album out in the next year. I know how it feels to be sick and I don't like it at all. At least you are getting other things done, like the Christmas wrapping. I have about a couple more things to get for the Holidays and I am totally done with everyone on my list. Dang, I have a long list of people.

GoldenGirl2: How are things going and is your car fixed? Did you get any other Joe CD's? How is the weather in California?

Castle49: Sorry I haven't communicated with you. How are things going?

Igenousiceman, JoeSatrini, & Satriella: Good day to you all and what is new over in the UK? I want to visit there someday.

fatape: What's new with you down under (in Australia)? I am behind Joe 1,000,000%. I agree with you and Blue_Moon, hands down. I just wish this whole issue with Coldplay comes to an end.

roo: How is the list/petition of Chickenfoot coming along? I know I signed it. What's new down under?

Skippygirl: Hey there and what is new down under? I have not been running because of non-stop work and I am trying to get over this cough, dry mouth, and sore throat. I am still thinking about doing a 5K Race this upcoming Saturday. If I do it, I'll let you know how it went down.

tikimon: Do you know any drinks that can help me get over a cough, dry mouth, and sore throat (all at the same time)? By the way, GO FLORIDA GATORS!!! I hope they beat Oklahoma in the title BCS Game. I also hope that QB Tim Tebow gets the Heisman. What do you think? As a runner, do you know any good wines or drinks that would be great for me?

Blue_Moon: Al, you are right!!! I am behind Joe 1,000,000% (along with fatape). This issue with Coldplay needs to come to an end. How are things over in Ireland? I want to visit there someday (want to see those castles). Enya, huh? Her music is good.

Guitarman77897: How is everything going for you man? You are probably jammin as usual, huh?

slashroom: My Scottish friend, how are things going for you over there in Spain?

alexandre-caetano: How are you things going for you over there in Portugal, since the death of your dog?

Well, I think I am now all caught up now. If I forget anybody, please forgive me. Keep in touch guys.

Joe, prayers to you and I support you all the way. Deuces!!!

any of you seen this excerpt from the guardian newspage?

On the one hand, you have Satriani's six-and-a-half-minute instrumental from 2004, with cheese-ball guitar wailing, moments of shredding, and long bouts of soloing. On the other hand, you have Viva La Vida: Eno-produced, Grammy-nominated, full of strings, church bells, drum rolls, chorales. And a sort of harpsichord solo. Certainly Viva La Vida is cheese-ball as well - but it feels more cheddar than Dairylea.

what the... what is this journalist trying to say exactly? does this mean that coldplay are a solid mature block of cheese and that Joe is a soft spreadable type? and which is better anyway? please help, explain !!!
