Wow Melbourne's highest rating breakfast radio just devoted 15 mins to the Satch lawsuit and discussed it with one of the local music gurus - played the songs and the overlapping songs, took talkback calls etc.

Satch was described as "huge in America" and "like a Hendrix God" or something LOL, but more importantly the music guru said it was a no-brainer that Satch had a case. He cited Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" case as an example.

LOML rang me from the car (he was on his way to work) to make sure I heard it, bless him.

Heey Joe, I just read the interview on musicman. And I knew it from the first second as well. Pitty things need to go this way. It was on Dutch radio this afternoon.

When are you coming back to Holland??? I saw you in de Rijnhal in Arnhem. I never had such a feeling like that. You were awsome! I really loved the solo after Always With Me Always With You. The song that made me fall in love with your music.

And another thing I wanted to ask you, When are you going to put down the price of your signature guitars??? I mean, we do have a financial crisis...

Lots of love and Rock on from Wouter, Holland

Now he's on page 1 of Skynews.com as American guitar virtuoso]

T, I will walk 500 miles, and I will walk 500 more, to be the mom who walks a thousand miles to beat down yer door and knocks some sense into you for giving up your happiness and zest for life cause there's so much more than being stuck in a moment for the rest of yer born days when so many people love you and so many people care and so many people want to see you shine again....but you can't because you're stuck in a moment.

Don't make me come over there Missy.

That was a medley. Thank you. Enjoy the veal.

Hey Joe,hows thing`s?Hope u r well.I`ve got a wee(i`m scottish)question which i hope u can help me with.I`ve been playing guitar for almost 7 years now,i used to play ever day for hours, although a few years back my partner gave birth to a wee boy(not wanting to sound selfish here by any means)and since then i`ve kinda lost my motavation and my will to,not alone play but even pick up the guitar.I`m really, really missing it but finding it hard to get myself back to the way i was,i know i cant play all day any more due to family, but i need to get my motavation and determanation back,so i can start playing again and back into the music scene.Music is my second family and home away from home. Please,if u could, give some pointers or methods to relight my musical fire, which is now just a spark awaiting some fuel. Please can u help.

Love and health always,

Keith,Scotland.

So Coldplay says:

"With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write or have any influence on the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavours."

Allow me to translate.

"Oh, fuck, he's serious. Our colonial advisors have now broken it to us that, so long as we do business across the pond in the land of the uncivilised (or "uncivilized" as those barbarians spell it), the bloody bastard can actually get his hands into our pockets.

"Who knew? It was just a little ditty from a tune that we were sure he'd forgotten, buried as it was among all those other little themes he'd plucked from his strings. You'd think he'd appreciate our more refined tastes, in at least knowing where we should shoplift for ideas.

"So grab the press whore off the couch and tell the bitch to spin something that might nick the skinny bastard in his conscience (you know--something that says we're sorry, but . . . and something that loses that 'Moe Batriani' business). Certainly can't have this kind of nonsense lurking. Milli Vanilli's got nothing on us. Quite."

Mr ....Paulo - It doesn't matter if something is intentional or not. If its copyrighted, its protected. The Verve may not have realized the sample was that of he Rolling Stones - but it was. Thats a different matter and completely a breach of copyright since it was the Stones sample.

Once again, I am a billizion steps behind everyone else!

McKenna--How are things in Eire besides being rainy and cold? How is Dublin? How are the "Streets with No Name"? Do you live near the U2 gang? What about Van Morrison?

DoTheStu--You are still the anchor and compass on this board. I am following you with my mental shackles weighing me down--I feel like I am running without gaining much ground!

SuperDave--Please feel better OR better yet, get 100% well.

Matt King--The last 8 years---were abdicated by the shrubberyBush & SmirkingChainChain Cheney! The enemies of this Planet!!

mjs99--Joe is soo very human like all of us! He is the real deal!!

Gingerpants--I think whoever wrote about Joe and the Coldplay case in the Guardian went completely bonkers and had a craving for cheese--soft and not so soft!

EVil DC5--I think you captured the spirit and emotion of "Made of Tears" very well!!

Guitarman 77897--Oh, Man! I love "Satch Boogie"! It is so Joe!! He is so at one with his guitar it makes me jump up and dance and celebrate!! He looks so cool in his mirrors bucket hat! He, Stu, Jeff and Galen play so tight and tasty! Yumm!

SkippyGirl--I am gonna get that Fender Acoustic soon. I will keep you posted.

Gotta get outa here, my man is callin'

Later,

something new:

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jv_vSNdPKP00gfIr10Tdh_5GhIJQD94VDRB80

In response to Coldplay's statement, Satriani's lawyer, Howard E. King, said Coldplay's public reaction was dramatically different from how the guitarist's claims were treated before the lawsuit was filed.

"We attempted to have a dialogue on this before we went public," King said. "We felt almost forced to file suit."

"As far as the 'coincidence,' ultimately that's for a jury to decide," he added.

King said it's common for musicians to be influenced by other works and incorporate it into their own, sometimes a little too closely.

But he said that the reaction is usually different when the similarities are pointed out.

"It doesn't mean you don't owe something to the original composer," he said.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

regardless of Coldplay's public statement, this is bound to get their lawyers to the table.

back to you

I just want to say Go JOE Go! I read in the paper today that he filed a lawsuit against ColdPlay for copyright infringement. I signed into this site for the first time just to say Go JOE Go!

One thing I've noticed about Joe (besides his musical genius) is that he is the most humble guy on earth. Despite being one of the best guitarists/musicians of all time, he'll back up on stage to let FunTwo shine in the spotlight. Here is a guy who has a flawless understanding of music theory, and I can't imagine Joe filing a lawsuit unless he's 100% certain of infringement. And, in my opinion, it's the principle that concerns Joe.

PS Thank you Joe for the beautiful music.

This has got to be one of the ALL TIME best videos ever made! It reminds me of the old school trippy vids where the bands would play with the psychadelic background zooming in and out, and all the "cool" effects they'd throw in to make the vid out there. Joe's vid is bangin'! It's got everything but the kitchen sink thrown in it, and if we look close enough, there might even be a kitchen sink in there somewhere! Whoever created that video should be...Creator Of ALL Videos from now on. lol!

Did I mention I dig that video?

Then what´s next? Is Satriani gonna accept Coldplay appologies? Or is he gonna stand still with his argument? Please tell me he will. If he doesn´t, it would be like letting them keep doing the same crime over and over again.
