About "Seal Clubbing"
As A Newfoundlander, then seal hunt is nothing new to me. I am in support of the hunt. Sure 200 000 seals are killed a year, but if it wasn't for that then imagine how many families wouldn't be able to afford Joe Satriani CD"s for their kids for Christmas, or would beable to even put food on the table! In comparison, there are 10 BILLION Chickens Killed each year in the USA, but no one cares. You See a little blood on the ice (from gunshots, not clubs) and the media freaks out. Clubbing is no longer allowed. There was one terriable videotape back in the 80's of a crew that did everything wrong, and they have since been legal dealt with.
Long story shot (too late), The Seal hunt is just another industry that people are a part of to make money. If you are going to boycott the seal hunt, then I'd suggest you boycott every other hunt there is.

Blue Moon - LMAO, good observation man

Have been watching the Deep Purple Saarbrucken (sp?) video - what a ripper - Joe is really on fire, but the whole band is in top form too IMHO. Amazing solo on the keyboards.

Merry Christmas Joe, to you and your family, thanks for the music, I am taking the ipod up to the mountains for Xmas, crammed with your CD's.

It's a hot 34 deg C in Melbourne BTW peeps.

Have a cool yule.

Hey Joe (if you read this), Good luck with the court issue with Coldplay. It doesn't seem like it's your style to get all worked up over stuff, but sometimes you have to stand up for what is yours and what is right. I'm behind you, man! Good luck!

Maritime--I would like to help you mend your nets so they are ready for Spring fishing.

The following are lyrics to a song for all the rugged individualists on this board.

"A winter's day in a deep and dark December. I am alone. Hiding in my room, safe within my room, I touch no one and no one touches me......I am a rock, I am an island........AND A ROCK FEELS NO PAIN AND AN ISLAND NEVER CRIES."

This was written by a singing/songwriting team who got their start in the 1960s...Any guesses?

well...looks like I better start looking for another job...

my boss has been showing signs of not liking me for a while...

he is very very old fashioned...he didn't like it coz I juggled... I used to get a lift in with the warehouse guy...but robert changed his hours and said that I couldn't come in on the works van....

he doesn't like the fact that I like guitar music..and now...

Friday he calls me into the board room and shouts the roof off at me

why?

Because i put "regards Satriella"on an INTERNAL email....

he said that I was damaging the company reputation by changing my name and that I was a weirdo and he wasn't having it!...this is the mild version!

The thing is no one outside the company who is work related knows I changed my name...I very rarely put my ame on anything anyway...and if I did it would be no different to the person at the other end to when I took over the job and the name changed from my pre-decessor to my name.

Joe Satrini - Sorry to hear about your cat...wishing her well

Ibanez_god - Cinderella...hehe that was funny!

Hugs Satriella xx

Dispatcher: Do you have an address?
Caller: No, I have on a blouse and slacks, why?

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is your emergency?
Caller: Someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich .
Dispatcher: Excuse me?
Caller: I made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when I came back from the bathroom, someone had taken a bite out of it.
Dispatcher: Was anything else taken?
Caller: No, but this has happened to me before and I'm sick and tired of it!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency?
Caller: I'm trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn't have an eleven on it.
Dispatcher: This is nine eleven.
Caller: I thought you just said it was nine-one-one
Dispatcher: Yes, ma'am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing.
Caller: Honey, I may be old, but I'm not stupid.

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What's the nature of your emergency?
Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart.
Dispatcher: Is this her first child?
Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1
Caller: Yeah, I'm having trouble breathing. I'm all out of breath. Darn....I think I'm going to pass out.
Dispatcher: Sir, where are you calling from?
Caller: I'm at a pay phone. North and Foster.
Dispatcher: Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic?
Caller: No . Dispatcher: What were you doing before you started having trouble breathing?
Caller: Running from the Police.

Simon & Garfunkel--Yes. "I Am a Rock" was a song I used to listen to a lot as a clueles preteen/teenager.

Rugged individualism is over-rated. What would Joe say about this? He said guitar players should play with other musicians and perform before audiences. That doesn't seem like rugged individualism to me. It tells me we are all in this together.

Maritime--Nets, please? You have found fault with Canadians hunting seals for their skins only. Aren't they feeding the polar bears? I don't like people killing other creatures just for hides--that sucks! OK, Canada is not perfect. The US is very far from perfect--we can't afford to keep living a lie--rugged individualism. Isn't it self-evident that people are SOCIAL beings? Why is Socialism such a bad concept? We just need the right mix--the right balance.

Perfection? Joe's songs are perfect. He lets the light come through--a transparency for truth! Spirituality rules!

Cappy, Satriella, Tuesdayschild, Tracie, Mikesb, Slans, JS1200JS1000, DotheStu--Have to catch up with you people in my next post.

Maritime: Every part of the seal is used. The skin, the meat, the flipper, the oils, it all goes somewhere. Seal Flippers are quite tasty. The food actually is eaten, it might not be as desirable to you, but then again neither is rocky mountain oysters, but people still pay to eat them. Its a lot more than a vanity industry. It is very belittling for you to so that you would rather see some people go without things because you don't agree with how the money is made.
Seal oil is a very large source of Omega. So i hope you don't plan on ever getting arthritis when you get older.

"Seal hunting is an off-season activity conducted by fishers from Canada's East Coast. They earn a small fraction of their incomes from sealing—primarily from the sale of seal pelts." The fishing is enough income to sustain families."
THis isn't true in every case.... in case you don't know the Fishery in Newfoundland collapsed back in 1992. Many families, mine included went though very hard times to provide for their families.
"Seals are killed and stripped of their fur and left on the ice"..... No. that's as much of a lie as saying Coldplay didn't copy Joe Satriani. You have to get off your computer and go see how it is all done.
"Import of this crap is banned in my country NL.".... what? Newfoundland isn't a country. It hast been a part of Canada for 60 years.
Baby seals are not legally hunted. Plain and simple, if it happens it is not simply passed over. A baby seal is a very cute animal. An adult seal is not. A baby chicken is a very cute animal. An adult chicken is not. A Baby cow is a very cute animal. An adult is not. See where i am going with this? Rather than doing a secondary source research on the Seal hunt, you should take it upon yourself to find out first hand how it all goes down. Dont blame a person for the need for money. Blame capitalism. Not everyone has the same opportunities as you or has the same background. No one is asking you to go buy a new seal skin coat. How would you like it if there was a campaign to boycott how it is you make a living?
Paul McCartny tried to fight this fight. All he ended up doing was make himself look stupid (he thought he was in Newfoundland when he was in Prince Edward Island, in comparison, He was in Arizona when he Claimed to be in Texas). Yes. The seal hunt was not managed properly 25 years ago. This animals are hunted and every part of the animal is used. They ARE NOT LEFT ON THE ICE TO ROT. They are hunted for more than sport.
