HEY - NEW CHICKENFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! IPHONE RINGTONES to download from my site on the left info bar under "Download Ringtones"
I basically split the Chickenfoot promo in the middle, so you can have either the "chickenfoot, chickenfoot, chiiickenfooooooooot..." as a ringtone, or the snip of music they played at the end.

anibur - That's an awesome way to post the Chickenfoot link...haha.
roo - Good job with the ringtones, too.
Listening to: The Cars - The Cars (current song: Bye Bye Love (demo))
I have the deluxe edition, which is a very cool package that includes the original album and then a second disc with a live version of Good Times Roll, demos of the rest of the album, and a few other demos of songs that didn't make the final cut. It's neat to hear how things evolved.
I think I've complained before here about albums such as U2's The Joshua Tree or the Foo Fighters' self-titled album...they bug me because the beginning of the album is loaded up with all the songs that are planned as singles. The Cars does this as well, but it happens twice (the first three songs on each side still get a ton of radio airplay today, which is quite a feat after 30 years) so I think I'll let it slide. ;-)

Ok, so I've been reading through everyone's posts since I joined and it has become obvious that not only does everyone love Joe and his work, but a great many of you also play the guitar or bass. So this seems like a perfect place to ask this question.
As I said in my first post I'm pretty well talentless as far as playing music goes. I haven't really played seriously since Jr. High and then I was playing the trumpet. Since then all I've played is simple beats on a small hand drum for drumming circles. Oh and the pan pipes but I'm so awful at that, that I shouldn't have mentioned it.
I would like to learn how to play the guitar but I'm not real sure where to get started. I have no intentions of playing with a band, it's something I would like to do simply for my own enjoyment and to try and build some dexterity up in my right hand after a surgery I had a few years ago that caused me to lose a lot of it. I figure playing the guitar would be great exercise for it.
So really I was going to see if any of you could maybe give me some advice on where I to start. What types of guitars would be best for my needs and general stuff like that. Thanks.

Cube : 6 songs missing for 100677 members.. terrible statement bro.
I'm supposed to get a Firebox Presonus Cubase system next week. I stop with analogic tascam. Too much breath.
Just a thought.. maybe some of us could do a second song for t2jcd3, if this option could help to conclude this trip.
Mike : Ok my friend. I'm waiting for you.

Austin, I got Portnoy's dvd In Constant Motion today. Pure feckin' genius! He is to drums what Joe is to guitar. Absolutely brilliant with their instruments. No time to watch all SEVEN hours of it (lol!) so I started with disk 2. I don't even have time to watch all of that right now, but what I've seen is mind blowing, as always, when I watch him drum and explain the songs.
If he would go on tour with Joe, they could call themselves Blue Beard and Baldy!

So am I the only person who finds it funny that this site has more than 100,000 members, but a troll is able to come here and take the username "Coldplay" because, well, no one else thought it was one worth having? ;-)
CommodoreDrake - Hi... The easiest thing to do would probably be to just go down to your local music store and have a look around/ask questions. I'd recommend starting with an acoustic, to learn the basics and get your hand strength up.
One thing to keep in mind is you'll get what you pay for. So don't spend $1,000 on something that's nicer than you know how to play, obviously, but at the same time you don't want to buy something for $50 that isn't a nice enough instrument to keep you interested.
Since you don't have much experience with music I'd also recommend taking a few lessons at the music store, just to get you going.
Other people here will probably have advice that's completely different, but that's the beauty of this site I guess. ;-)
cheese101 - Thanks for the old Satch...
michelle - Yeah, that DVD rules...I don't even think I ever made it through all seven hours of it. I'd have to go back and check.
I really love that DVD and then the "making of" DVD that came with Systematic Chaos...it's really cool to see how MIke Portnoy organizes all the little pieces of the band's sound.
While I have you hear I'll say that I have some Pennsylvania-related questions for you...I'll send you an e-mail sometime later today, if I have some free time...thanks. :-)

Thanks Ibenez and Stu. I guess I'll start looking. I had planned on going acoustic initially partially because I love the sound of acoustic guitars. Well when and if I find one I'll be sure to let ya'll know.
