Austin, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I could not access my work schedule from home over the weekend... I am free saturday night so I'll be going to the concert... Idk what time you are planning to head over there, but I should be out of work around five-ish... Maybe I should go buy a ticket before it sells out... Is it a big venue?

So, what does everyone think of the new Joe Satriani pedals, the Time machine and the Big Bad Wah? I'm currently saving up for the wah, looks (and sounds) awesome!

cosmic_ape - You should buy your ticket ASAP...the show is at the House Of Blues on Sunset, so the capacity is probably only around 1,000. Here's a link for you:
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0900417D9C164150
We should also plan on eating at the venue, since we'll get let in early by doing that. It's a bit pricey (something like $10-$12 for a hamburger and fries, to name one item), but being inside first makes it worth it. I know this particular HOB takes dinner reservations because it doesn't open until 5 p.m. They're probably already full, but in the past I've just sat at the bar and ordered dinner...it's easy to walk right in and do that.
I'm at work now, but I'll email you later with more specific info. Go ahead and buy your ticket now, though. You'll probably have to have it held at will call since the show date is so close, but I can hold a spot in line for you while you're getting that straightened out on the show night.

HEY - NEW CHICKENFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! IPHONE RINGTONES to download from my site on the left info bar under "Download Ringtones"
I basically split the Chickenfoot promo in the middle, so you can have either the "chickenfoot, chickenfoot, chiiickenfooooooooot..." as a ringtone, or the snip of music they played at the end.

anibur - That's an awesome way to post the Chickenfoot link...haha.
roo - Good job with the ringtones, too.
Listening to: The Cars - The Cars (current song: Bye Bye Love (demo))
I have the deluxe edition, which is a very cool package that includes the original album and then a second disc with a live version of Good Times Roll, demos of the rest of the album, and a few other demos of songs that didn't make the final cut. It's neat to hear how things evolved.
I think I've complained before here about albums such as U2's The Joshua Tree or the Foo Fighters' self-titled album...they bug me because the beginning of the album is loaded up with all the songs that are planned as singles. The Cars does this as well, but it happens twice (the first three songs on each side still get a ton of radio airplay today, which is quite a feat after 30 years) so I think I'll let it slide. ;-)

Ok, so I've been reading through everyone's posts since I joined and it has become obvious that not only does everyone love Joe and his work, but a great many of you also play the guitar or bass. So this seems like a perfect place to ask this question.
As I said in my first post I'm pretty well talentless as far as playing music goes. I haven't really played seriously since Jr. High and then I was playing the trumpet. Since then all I've played is simple beats on a small hand drum for drumming circles. Oh and the pan pipes but I'm so awful at that, that I shouldn't have mentioned it.
I would like to learn how to play the guitar but I'm not real sure where to get started. I have no intentions of playing with a band, it's something I would like to do simply for my own enjoyment and to try and build some dexterity up in my right hand after a surgery I had a few years ago that caused me to lose a lot of it. I figure playing the guitar would be great exercise for it.
So really I was going to see if any of you could maybe give me some advice on where I to start. What types of guitars would be best for my needs and general stuff like that. Thanks.
