Hi! This message is for Joe. The sustain you got when you recorded G3 with Eric Johnson: Was it the Tone Bone, A Sustainiac? I really need to know cos I have to buy something that does that kind of thing soon and I don't want to go the wrong way. The smoothness of tone that you get when you played: Is that eq or the kind of amp and fx processing that you used, or mic placement? I always seem to get a little too much pick attack with my lead sound. I know you use a legato approach but besides that, any tips?

ALSO: I first heard "Always with Me Always with You" when I was about 15 yrs old and got the old epiphany shakes and wound up in deep prayer with God, thanking Him that I got to hear those wonderful passages and harmonies, in the context of radio airplay, super-inundated with Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue. All my friends thought I was weird, of course, coming from where I do. Thank you for making my soul happy for decades later... I'm always moved by your playing and I'm sure you've helped the industry so much, holistically, that just hearing it on the radio a few times, could help many, many people to help others. I've managed to do charitable work that would otherwise have not been possible because of your influence, so you've not only helped me but the poor as well. God bless you with the best reward!

HELLO EVERYBODY!!!

I saw the Chickenfoot page and loved every single second of it.

What's up everyone!? Hope everyone is doing well. I have been busy with my job(s) at the Holiday Inn: Serving, room service, bar, setting up and serving banquets. We had a couple of sports team staying with us, as well as a baby shower party for about 90 guests.

The concert last Monday was awesome. When I arrived, Saving Abel had finished singing, which was a bummer. Papa Roach did an awesome performance and even went into the crowds. Avenged Sevenfold had to cancel their performance because the singer got sick, which the whole crowd went into an uproar/riot. Buckcherry was awesome and I got to see them up close. I was about 10 rows from the front (in the crowd).

Tomorrow, I'll be turning 24, but I'll be working on my birthday, which is cool. It is also my niece's birthday and she will be turning 4.

The Oscars was awesome. I knew that Slumdog Millionaire was going to crush the competition. I was about 80% correct on who was going to win.

Time to catch up with you T2Jers from all over the world:

~UNITED STATES~ Do the Stu: How are things going with you and your job?

SuperSwingDog: Thanks for the e-mail. That looks really awesome (of that gazebo). How are you, the family, and your band doing?

Zinc Master: How's it going my Indy/Runner friend? My next race won't be until mid-March. I am still thinking about the Valpo-Mini.

Michelle: How are you, your pop, and family doing? Can't wait for Chickenfoot!

Cheese101: How's life treating you these days? Happy 21st Birthday to your son. I'll be turning 24 tomorrow.

GoldenGirl2: How are you and hubby doing? Did you get any more of Joe's CDs by any chance? Can't wait to see your beautiful guitar.

Guitarman77897: What's going on man!?

Tikimon: How are you doing and what is a good birthday drink for someone like me?

Castle49: How are you doing?

Ibanezplyr: How's that foot of yours man. I have not been able to check out your music. What was it called again?

Hybes: How are things going?

Cosmic_ape: Was it a madhouse over there last night? I saw the Oscars on television.

Punkdude75: I saw the Oscars and most of my picks won. I knew that Slumdog Millionaire, Sean Penn, Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger, and Penelope Cruz were going to win.

Keniko: How's everything going for you? You from Illinois, right? I got family over there. I am thinking about doing the Chicago Marathon.

JS_JS: How are you doing?

~CANADA~ js1200js1000: How are things going for you up there? Sorry I haven't chatted with you for a while. My folks/family are doing well here. How is yours?

death cube k: How are you doing man? Hope things are going good for you.

My Canadian friends, less than a year from now, the Winter Olympics will start. WOOHOO AND DO NOT BLAME CANADA MY FRIENDS!!!

~UNITED KINGDOM (U.K.)~ Satriella: Hey girl, how are you doing? I hope you are doing well. Keep up those funny posts/stories that you pour on. I'm still running, but I'm giving my legs a rest for right now. My next race is in March.

Pip Satrini (Joe Satrini): Hey Phil, how are things going for you? Things are busy here in the United States. I'm still running.

Igenousiceman: How are you doing my friend? I'm giving my legs a rest from running, for right now. Two of my races are out of the way and I have my next race coming up in March, which is a 20K.

Anibur: How are you doing? So you are not near Wimbledon. Darn, it would of been cool if you did so you can see all those tennis stars.

~MEXICO~ Tostado: Happy Birthday Amigo!!! My birthday is tomorrow. Hope you have an excellent one on your 18th Birthday.

~IRELAND~ Blue_Moon: How are things going with you? I won't be partying much because I'm working on my birthday. Maybe I'll have a drink or two afterwards when I get off work.

~AUSTRALIA~ Skippygirl: How are you and your guitar playing going my friend? I have been busy so sorry about not chatting with you. It seems to me that I can never get a break. I'll be turning 24 on Tuesday and I'll be working, which is cool. Since those fires are now done, how's everyone doing? I am letting my legs rest for now, but I'll be running again soon. My next race is in the middle of March (a 20K Run). How's the running/walking around the oval going for you? Keep in touch my friend.

Dream 3: How are you doing since the fires? Prayers to you and everyone down under.

Fatape: How are things going for you?

Roo: That is a lot of support for you and everyone down under since the fires. Congrats.

YOU AUSSIES ROCK!!!

~SPAIN~ Slashroom: How's everything going with you? Good luck to Rafael Nadal in the French Open.

~THE NETHERLANDS~ Maritime: How are doing man? Do you have any more pictures of Joe by any chance? Again, those were cool that you posted. My running is coming along well. I am taking a break right now from running because of work. I'll be running again soon. Who knows, sooner or later, I might pop over there and do a run there. Take care of yourself.

~DENMARK~ Railton: What's up man!? Been a while. Hope things are going well with you. What have you been up to these days? I have been running, working, etc. Busy as usual. Keep in touch.

~PORTUGAL~ Alexandrecaetano: How's it going at your new place? Hope things are looking good for you.

~SOUTH AFRICA~ Jamo9: Welcome to the fansite. What are some of your favorite songs from Joe Satriani? I like all of his music.

TO EVERYONE ELSE: Hope things are looking positive for all of you.

All right, I think I'm all caught up for now and I'll check in with all of you again later. Gotta run and take care of some more things. Tomorrow, I'll be 24. COOL! See ya everyone!!!

Mr. Satriani and the rest of the band, I would just like to say that your music is a true gift to the world. I am an avid listener of music (not a musician due to a dreadful lack of talent) and yours is able to reach deep into the heart of the listener and pluck the strings of the soul. Listening to you is a truly transcendental experience. Your songs are able to pull emotion from the listener, and take the mind and ear on a truly spiritual journey to new heights of musical joy.

I have found very few artists that are capable of this. There are plenty of good musicians in the world but you are truly masters of your art and set a bar so high that few may attain it.

I would like to thank you for your music and for being so down to earth as to communicate with your fans rather than viewing them as just the necessary component to fill your bank account. You are a true artist and everyone can learn from your example.

cheese101 - I was born in May 1983, so I would've been almost 22 during those shows.

It's cool that age limits won't keep him from Satch shows, but I bet the same thing happens to him that happened to me...now that it doesn't matter, Joe will start playing all-ages venues. ;-)

SuperSwingDog - Yeah, you're probably right...there isn't a whammy pedal in CRATS, is there?
Glitz Man - You're only turning 24? Ah...I thought you were a bit older than that (a compliment, by the way).

Work for me is...work. I'm not liking my job all that much lately, and I'm actually looking for a new one. We'll see how that plays out, I guess...

SuperSwingDog - Congrats on going back to work! That's great news. Sure good to see the house prices still coming down. There are an incredible amount of houses that have been on the market here over 180 days. Havent seen that in a very long time!! Maybe the new builds will be able to get back in line with the current market first, and you will be gainfully employed for a long time to come!!

Glitzman - It's going good here. No ice storms or tornadoes lately, so that's been all good!

Do the Stu - What's got you down about your job? Is it just the paper you work for or the media period? I don't know if I mentioned or not, but I had was a military journalist and had landed a job with a Fox affiliate in Jax Florida in 1993 and decided to bail on the media. My dream was to get into sports, but I had to start as a news reporter. I had real morale differences with the media and decided it was best for me to pursue a different career.

SuperSwingDog - love the new name, that's great news about going back to work, spose you can now get some more guitars and pedals :))

Glitzy - I love your posts, you erase all negativity and make everything happy! Hope the leg-rest is good for the next race. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow!!! I recommend a Mojito myself, drink of choice amongs my crowd at the moment.

The fires were awful but yes an enormous amount of funds and relief effort was raised. Still some fires burning but under control. I think it will take a few years for the grief, loss and effects of the trauma to work it's way out of those communities - it isn't just a case of re-building your house. I am glad that people are more and more saying that they will just evacuate in the future and not try to save their houses (although this time nobody had any warning).

I bought a 2nd hand Fender acoustic and I am trying real hard to get 20-30 mins practice in every day. Songs sound bad :( but I am focussing on trying to hit the correct sound from the chord and building switching speed so I actually do more exercises than playing songs at this point. Mind you, I listen to Joe going to and from work in the car and I desperately want to be able to play something like Summer Song or Turkey Man soon!! The electric is put away for a little while until we move back into our house is a week or so.

roo - your site is looking really good. I think I have a vinyl you don't have - woo hoo! (but you have hundreds of things I don't have :( ). Does your wife enjoy Joe as well and go to the shows? Would like some fellow fans to rock with when he comes out again. Saw the Linkedin group too.

ibanez-god - thanks for all your kind posts re the geetar, I really aprreciate it. Hope you can find work soon - I thought you were a pro musician actually - can you make that musical and guitar knowledge pay for you? give lessons?

SuperSwingDog - Congrats! :-) Is it just like things were? Are you full-time right away, or...?

Tostado - I don't quite think of Tony Hawk when I hear that song...interesting, though.

To me, it sounds like a cross between Montrose's Rock Candy and Sammy Hagar's Little White Lie, if both songs were from the late 60s.

hybes - I love journalism...I'm only bummed about the company I work for. The paper I work for is part of a group of eight or so in the Los Angeles area, and in a month or two all of our jobs are moving to West Covina (45 minutes away, in the middle of nowhere). So we'll all be working on all of the papers in a combined desk, and it's all going to be really unorganized and horrible.

I'm actually leaning toward quitting when that happens, but I don't have any other work lined up just yet. On top of this, I've had to take five furlough days (unpaid time off) in February/March...that just sucks. Anyway, I'll have more to say later...

michelle - Ah, I hadn't heard that your hours were cut...when did that happen, and how bad was it?
