Some things are so stupid that they make sense

This makes a lot of sense.................

Drafting Guys over 60

----this is obviously written by a Former Soldier----

New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60!

I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.

For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some asshole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while.

An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10 a.m. Old guys always get up early to pee so what the hell. Besides, like I said, 'I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical S-of-a-B....

If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would be easier for old guys. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.

Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start up a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head.

These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way.

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple of million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons who know that their best years are already behind them.

***How about recruiting Women over 50 ...with PMS !!! You think Men have attitudes !!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!!

If nothing else, put us on border patrol....we will have it secured the first night!

Michelle--Thanks for setting me straight about Al! lol!

Maritime--I promise I will not send you into a rant again about religion, spirituality and what you consider nonsense. Spirituality gives me comfort--that is another story. You could always put your lawyer in touch with my lawyer and take me to the International Criminal Court at the Hague where I would have to argue my case for a religion/way of life I was raised in, however, you may not like hearing what I have to say. Anyway, I have a new assignment--finding out who this Dr. Clogs is and joining him for a cup of Joe....uhh....espresso...Viennese...dutch style! ;-)

Tracie--I don't feel like doing much outside my room either...I just want to play my guitar and find out what I can do for musicians who have given their all for fans like us.

Ozzy_Fud--I like your attitude! Have you ever met an 18 carrot wabbit or are they mostly into 14 carrots? They would be stupid for not sharing with you! That's greed for you!

GoldenGirl2 ;-)

hey everyone-- just wanted to do a quick note to let you know some good news on the tour photos. i'm happy to say that i was able to recruit someone (everyone say "Thanks Mark!") to process the huge backlog of photos that had been building up. he's spent the last few months going through them (and also much of the webmaster emails) and has added photos for about 142 shows and over 3,000 photos over the last 4 years!

they are all available on the tour archive pages in the road section as well as the main photos section.

thanks to everyone who has contributed photos and we will do our best to not let it go on like this next time!

Hello everybody!!!

Hope you all are doing well. I got off work early because I was getting close to overtime so therefore, I can finally get caught up with most of you Satcheroos. All right, some green from Webmaster. AWESOME!!! Thanks Mark.

I ran in the cold last night with my running group and I did about six miles (in deep snow). Later, a couple of us did crunches and man did that hurt. Now my stomach and neck feels all weird. I have two races coming up on February the 8th and 14th. 5K Runs in each of them.

SuperDaveMcCarthy: How are you doing man? Hope you and your family are keeping warm. Keep in touch, bro.

js1200js1000 & death cube k: How are things going with you both up there in Canada? I just realized that in about a year from now, you guys will be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. YOU CANADIANS ROCK!!!

Joe Satrini: Phil, how are you holding up, bro? I hope things are looking better. Every new day starts fresh my friend. Prayers to you and keep in touch.

Satriella: Satriella, how are things going with you? I hope you are doing well. Like those posts you put up. Keep in touch.

alexandrecaetano: Happy Birthday!!! Sorry it was a little late. That is actually the same day as my nephew's birthday and he turned six. We will celebrate his birthday over the weekend because a lot of us work. Congrats as well on becoming a father.

mikesb: Rascal, sorry to hear about Billy Powell. He was a great piano player for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Any news from the autopsy report?

Skippygirl: Hey Skippy, how are you doing with the guitar playing? I have been running. I have two races coming up in about a couple of weeks. One on Feb. 8th and one on the 14th. Both are 5K runs. Hey, if I come down to Australia and do a run, would you come and watch me?

Guitarman77897: Yo Matt!!! I have not heard anymore about the Coldplay thingamajig. All I know is that the Grammys are coming up on February the 8th and Coldplay is up for I think six, seven, or eight Grammys (don't know for sure). I'm kind of hoping that they don't win any, if you know what I am talking about. How's the guitar playing going and school?

michelle: How are you doing over there? I hope the weather is not becoming a problem to you and your loved ones. Good luck to the Steelers. I might be working on Super Bowl Sunday, but I do not know for sure yet.

Cheese 101 & GoldenGirl2: How are you both doing? I don't want to sound rude, and I know you both are busy, but I felt left out by you both because I write to you and you don't answer back. I hope you both are doing well with your family, jobs, etc.

Do The Stu: Long time since I have heard from you. I hope you are doing well. Keep in touch!!!

slashroom: How's everything in Spain going? Good luck to Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open. I think he has a chance of winning all four majors this year. What do you think?

keniko: How's everything going with you? My races are starting up soon, in about a couple of weeks. I am thinking about doing a marathon, so Chicago & Detroit are my best bets for now.

Blue_Moon: Hi Alan, how was Spain and Berlin? Where is a place that you can get cheap alcohol? As for me, I am going sober for a full month, for now. Until I get these two running races out of the way, then maybe I'll have a drink or two. Great video of you playing All Alone. I just glanced at your website and left a message in your guestbook. AWESOME!!!

Igneousiceman: How are things going with you? I have that one race (I told you about) coming up on a Sunday and another 5K Run on Saturday (same week as the first run).

cosmic ape, fatape, maritime, castle49, JS_JS, ibanezplyr, Ozzy_Fudd, and everyone else: What's up with all of you? My work and running is usual for me. Keep in touch you all.

Well, I better stop now. I have laundry to get done. Michelle, thank you for reminding me. Chat with you all later!!!!

Chadley, there's a 4 year waiting period to get pictures posted. Get in line for the splurge of new pics being sent and overloading Webby's email. LOL!

Skippygirl, I think I'd rather be cold, I'm not sure. I get really short tempered when I get that hot. I can't breathe, and then I wanna hurt people. Sad but true. Don't really wanna freeze either, but at least we have blankets and - if all else fails, kerosene heaters. We actually don't even have one of those, so we'd be pretty damn cold.

anibur, Glitz, yep, my pop is holding steady - thanks!

edit - woweewoowoo! Check out the VERY NICE photos from CodePoet in Atlanta!

Glitzy - due to the air con at our office exploding with the extreme heat I stayed at home today and got a luxurious 4 hrs of guitar noodling in. I read and practice the CAGED system and learnt all the notes on the 4,5,6 strings, and did fingering exercises.

Then I googled some songs and tried Cherry Cherry (too hard) Solitary Man (too hard) and hit on Leaving On a Jet Plane which was OK despite being hard to switch between G and C. My C is getting better too.

Also learnt some sections of "Brain Damage".

Have you been chanting out loud your verbal goal for your race? Keen to see if you notice an effortless improvement in your times. Good luck in any case and if you do ever run in Australia I would definitely come to watch :0).

Michelle - yes you have a point there. Perhaps it is easier to warm up than cool down. I still find it hard to believe you guys function, go to work, school etc in snow - how would I get around in my high heels?????

Webby - love the photos thanks for that and thanks Mark whoever you are.
