Prayers to your sister Michelle.

Maritime - Sorry to hear about your sudden illness. Hope you are better soon.

It's great how Joe just swoops in and says something now and again. With his working schedule it's a wonder.

JOE, yer always here when we need you. I took a phone pic of yer message and sent it to my sisters just in case surgery is running a bit late. I always tell my sisters (and anyone who will listen) what a great guy you are. Now they can see it for themselves. I love ya Joe. Thanks. You have no idea what this means to me.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and good vibes.

Fatape, thanks for telling me about yer Auntie Brenda. I'm glad she's well now.

Skippy, I hope yer bro-in-law is right as rain these days.

Hi fellow Satch fans!

Anybody interested in purchasing my '05 upgraded, signed JS 1200? Upgrades include a Tremol-No system so you can play with a blocked trem, full floating, or dive-only....also upgraded to a Mo Joe Dimarzio bridge humbucker that Joe uses in all his touring guitars. The guitar has been held by Joe (have pic to prove it), and he has signed the back of the headstock with a black sharpie, and he drew a one-of-a-kind character at the end of the bridge in silver sharpie. Looks REALLY cool! Guitar is in very good condition. Has scratches and some dings here and there on the body from normal useage, but nothing major (no large paint chips or wood cracks or anything). There is one small ding on the neck, but other than that, the neck is perfect. Looking for $1600,including the form fitted J Craft case, a black Planet Waves Satriani strap, Allen keys, manual, 3 DVD's (Satch Tapes, Satriani legendary licks double DVD, and a Vai lick library double DVD), some Satch picks, and a Joe-signed trem cover. I will also throw in a Subdecay F-Bomb high output fuzz pedal. This a good price for a one of a kind piece of Joe's art, mentioned upgrades, goodies, and an incredible sounding guitar. If interested, post a message with your e-mail and I'll send you some pics and also some links to Youtube clips of the guitar in action. Cheers!

Cup of Tea

Only a Mother would know

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old.. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water.. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home.

My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watched him drink it up.

Then she said, (as only a mother would know...)

"Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?"

Burly - I couldn't agree more. When I made my comment about Sammy having played with Eddie, I was really saying that it was a huge compliment! Sammy has played with some great ones, and if he says you're the best...that's saying alot.

Michelle - Prayers to you and your sister. It's been a rough start to the year for you and your family. Hope all goes well and the second half of 2009 is a great one for you and yours!!!

Thanks guys

I got a call from my sister. The doc is having complications with his first surgery, so my sis will have to wait another 2 - 3 hours! She might not get in the surgery suite until 5:00 tonight! That sucks for her. She's a mess. She was all ready to go, and now she has to wait - and she's so hungry she's getting pukey from her nerves. Poor thing. I just hope the doc has his wits and strength for my sisters surgery. My other sis is with her, so at least they have each other. My nephew (B's son) booked out. He couldn't take it so his mum told him to go home. Now my sis will be alone after B goes into surgery :-/

I hope the docs first patient is okay....

Hi Joe HUGE fan of yours from the UK (saw you at the NEWCASTLE city hall gig fantastic) I got a big ask of you, there.s a radio show on absolute radio here where if you can get a celeb to phone the show you win £20.000 and your celeb gets the same for the charity of their choice. my big ask is would you call them for me *pretty please* the money would come in so handy right now in this credit crunch as im just about to move house and you would be doing your bit for your charity as well so what do you say? I have the show details or check it out your self at http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk under Who's calling Christian? What a coup to have you calling in be brilliant but i.ll always be a life long fan what ever xxxxxxxxx

roo - you lucky bugger, can I carry your bags to Europe? I really hope Joe tours down here with Chickenfoot, alone, hell anybody. My brother bought me "Legendary Guitar Licks" DVD for Xmas, the one by Danny Gill - I put it on the other night and it confirmed there is no way I could ever learn a Satch song for about 10 years......I turned it off.

Chelle - by now hopefully your sis is in recovery, and on the mend permanently, must be an aura of good vibes floating round her at the moment from T2Jers, Joe, everyone.

Wow, Joe really does show up at the time when you leasst expect it doesn't he? And, yes we need to organise ourselves for the Chickenfoot tour. Sounds like a lot of you are coming to Europe, maybe we should have an uber gig somewhere, everyone possible at one location....Worth thinking about.

Skippy Girl,

Latest teaching for kids here, not sure if it's worldwide thinking, is to learn lead guitar (or "note" playing) before chords.

It makes sense really, chords require control over every finger to cleanly fret the notes and bridge neatly over others because you're playing more than one string.

I learnt chords first and it's good for simple "koom-by-ya" style songs, but it can be very frustrating (as you've found) with complex chords.

My boy started learning guitar recently and he's 8. He can play the first melody line to "Ten Words" and learnt it in one sitting. If you pick something like that you get enourmous satisfaction from hearing the melody and learning more fingering techniques but only with one or 2 fingers at a time.

If you look at the tab book for "Always" (the first satch song I learnt), and ten words, and many others, there are recognisable melodies that are not difficult to learn fairly rapidly. That is great fun. Then, every time you play them, you improve your feeling, style, method, etc... And can flip through other material spotting easier sections of melodies you like and learning them.

Give that a go, especially Ten Words, let me know how that goes.

Be prepared to hit a brick wall when you get to the "tricky" bits in each song though! :) It will take a while to start learning the method of doing the faster bits with bends and stretches, etc when you hit them.

Roo

Hybes, thanks for the response,. yeah I think Ed is great and Sammy having played with so many of these greats over the years, I was in full agreement with him when he said that about Joe because I had just been thinking that very same thought a couple of weeks before he even said it. I just really think Ed has gone off the deep end, I mean I saw VH with Sammy 3-4 years back and Ed was just not on at all. I found myself wondering if I was the only one in the arena who thought the same.Needless to say I walked away disappointed. When the latest VH tour came around , I just was not that interested in going. When I heard Mike was out I said no way. I didn't buy the Gary Cherone version album and as much as I love Diamond Dave and what he accomplished with VH, I would NOT buy a new VH record. I feel bed for Ed because I think a lot of things that are going on with him on a personal level has brought something wonderful down to a tragic disappointment. But that's just me. But CHICKENFOOT is gonna be the greatest!!! Keep on rockin' everybody.

YAY! My sister is finally out of surgery! The doc said everything went well, and the tumor came out easily. She'll be in recovery for another 2 hours or so until my sister can see her again. She might be able to come home Saturday. She's cut from the top of her head down to above her ear, so that's going to take a while to heal, as well as her skull fusing back together. Ouch! Sorry if that was to much detail...

Thank you all so much for all your prayers and good thoughts.
