That Yngwie incident is hilarious...it's always nice to hear it come up again.

I remember one of the original G3 2003 announcements included the word "unleashed" or "fury" in it...that got a few laughs here at the time.

EDIT (times two) - I looked through the archives...it's the August 2003 satriani.com newsletter. Thanks to JS Clone 1 for the quote:

"Yes, G3 is BACK! This year has Joe and G3 alumni Steve Vai teaming up with Yngwie Malmsteen to unleash some guitar fury across the States"

cheese101 - You mentioned Dream Theater, so...have you heard who they'll be on the road with in the US this summer on the next version of their Progressive Nation tour? Zappa Plays Zappa, Pain Of Salvation, and Beardfish... I'm not sure if you (or many people here, actually) know the last two bands, but I'm PSYCHED...this tour is going to rock.

I saw your questions about New Last Jam when I was at work earlier tonight and was going to reply, but it looks like cosmic_ape did a great job...that saves me a lot of typing, and he did a better job than I would have.

I know it's a YouTube video so the audio quality isn't all that great, but if you crank it up you can hear a slight difference on each neck. I don't know how it was played live (I missed the leg of the SBM tour when NLJ was in the set), but when Joe plays it on the lower (normal) neck it sounds like he might be playing through an octave box, or maybe Galen is doubling his riff...either of those things would make the sound close.

michelle - Yes, Joe needs to bring back the flame pants for the Chickenfoot tour. Why? Mikey has a matching bass. :-)

"I don't wanna see ANY guy in a thong ffs!

I re-watched Wayne's World 1 and 2 on Sunday night...I bet you just LOVE the weird naked Indian in WW2, don't you?

cosmic_ape - Any chance you'll be at the Paul Gilbert gig at the HOB on Sunset on 2/28?

Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: 'Free to good home. You want it, you take it.' For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided that people were too un-trusting of this deal. It looked too good to be true, so he changed the sign to read: 'Fridge for sale $50.'

The next day someone stole it!

***They walk amongst us!***

------------ ---------

*One day I was walking down the beach with some friends when someone shouted....' Look at that dead bird!' Someone looked up at the sky and said...'where? '

***They walk among us!!**

------------ --------- ---------

While looking at a house, my brother asked the estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, 'Does the sun rise in the north?' When my brother explained that the sun rises in the east, and has for sometime, she shook her head and said, 'Oh, I don't keep up with that stuff'

***They Walk Among Us!!***

------------ --------- -

My colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria, when we overheard one of the administrative assistants talking about the sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the beach. She drove down in a convertible, but 'didn't think she'd get sunburned because the car was moving'.

***They Walk Among Us!!!!***

------- -----

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car it's designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped She keeps it in the trunk.

***They Walk Among Us!!!!!***

------------ ---------

I was hanging out with a friend when we saw a woman with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain. My friend said, 'Wouldn't the chain rip out every time she turned her head?' I had to explain that a person's nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned...

***They Walk Among Us!!!!!!! ***

------------

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands. 'Now,' she asked me, 'Has your plane arrived yet?'...

***They Walk Among Us!!!!!!!!** *

------------

While working at a pizza parlour I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding. 'Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces.

***Yep, They Walk Among Us, too.!!!!!!!!

Sadly, not only do they walk among us, they also reproduce !!!!

I hear Queen Anne is very nice. Also what are some good places to eat in Seattle? so far I've heard of Pike Place Chowder, Snappy Dragon and Ezells.

Had a bit of a rant on hear last year about Amy Shitehouse, this year its Radiohead, i'm sorry to anyone who likes them, but my God they are manky. maritime: Makes you fink doesn't it? Not sure what it makes you think, but hey...

Larry, a local football star, is jogging down the street when he sees a building on fire. A lady is standing on a third story ledge holding her cat in her arms.

"Hey, lady", yells Larry, "Throw me the cat!"

"No," she cries, "It's too far!"

"I play football. I can catch him!"

The smoke is pouring from the windows. The woman kisses her cat goodbye and tosses it down to the street.

Larry keeps his eye on the cat as it comes hurtling down toward him. The feline bounces off an awning and he runs into the street to catch it. He jumps six feet into the air and makes a spectacular one-handed catch. The crowd that has gathered to watch the fire breaks into cheers.

Larry does a little dance, lifts the cat above his head, wiggles his knees back and forth, then spikes the cat into the pavement. Hehe :)

Cor ...been busy on here!

Yes, and when we went to see Joe at the London Guitar Show last year, he played a small concert for about 1.5 hours (not too sure now!), [it was at the end of the PSATMOR tour,] our tickets were £25.00 each for Joe and to get into the show all day, how brilliant is that?

Good on ya Joe.....we love you........and ^*^**^*^*^**^*Thankyou^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Do The Stu & Rush Fans

Alex Lifeson says Rush won't make 'concept' album Band set to record in the fall

Joe Bosso - from Music Radar

Size doesn't matter, says Lifeson

Alex Lifeson told MusicRadar that the band has no plans to make a 'concept' album, even though producer Nick Raskulinecz, who helmed the group's last studio effort, Snakes & Arrows, is urging them to do so.

"It's a very funny thing," Lifeson says. "We're in this mode of not working now, kind of enjoying being bums. And Nick is calling us with all of these heavy conceptual ideas. I think he thinks we have to make our grand statement - like it's now or never."

According to Lifeson, Rush haven't discussed concrete plans for recording their next album, but "we're thinking fall. After the summer I think we'll be ready to work again."

Double CD possible Buoyed by the group's work on 2007's Snakes & Arrows, Lifeson says Raskulinecz is at the top of their list to produce the next album. "We feel there's a dialogue there, a relationship we haven't quite finished. It's like a conversation you begin and gets cuts off - Rush have more to say with Nick, I think."

"Lots of bands have made double albums that aren't 'concept' records. Length is so subjective" Alex LifesonThat chat may or may not include a double CD - "something we're not opposed to at all," says Lifeson - but that doesn't automatically mean the dreaded 'C' word need apply.

"Lots of bands have made double albums that aren't 'concept' records," says Lifeson. "The Beatles made 'The White Album' - that isn't a concept album. Neither is [Led Zeppelin's] 'Physical Graffiti.' Length is so subjective."

Lifeson chuckles at Raskulinecz's unbridled enthusiasm ("He's the ultimate crazy-fan!"), but he says when the band sits down with him to discuss the next album - assuming he's the one - they'll make it clear that they're only interested in making a great record - single, double or otherwise.

"That's the only concept we're after: 'Is it good?' If there's a storyline attached, well, I don't know...I'm not thinking along those lines. Didn't we do that already? Rush aren't into repeating themselves."

On the subject of nice guitars, check this guy out (he's just down the road from me, give or take 20miles) Gordon Smith. Great looking guitars, but look at the price! Makes me want to grab the ol' debit card and go!

cosmic_ape, thanks for that great explanation....I unnerstand a bit more now and when I listen to the song can hear the difference in how full it sounds when Joe plays on the upper neck :) It's a great song!

But I'm still wondering Joe, if you've used yer double neck for any other songs? I don't think I've seen any video or heard of any other time you've used that guitar....just curious, again, lol.

Hmmm...am I the only guy here who doesn't think Carla Bruni is that hot? Maybe being in California spoils me...I think she's good looking, yes, but I see people who are the same or better and are normal/regular/everday people. So they win.

Anyway...sorry to rain on everyone's parade...haha.

Haimei - Hi...welcome to the site. There's a podcast link on the homepage. Click that and then watch the podcasts just after the date of your show...you might see yourself. :-)
Zinc Master - Thanks for the Rush info. I figure a lot of that is speculation and can change a hundred times before they start recording, but I am glad to hear they'll be back in the studio with Nick Raskulinecz...
cheese101 - Ah...as far as I know, Joe has only used the double neck on New Last Jam. But I don't think the guitar was built specifically for that song...I think he's had it in his collection for a while.
