Igneousiceman - Have you heard of Pen Island? I came across the site a few years ago...it's a joke similar to the one you just mentioned. They were legit, as far as I could tell (and yes, I think they knew what they were doing), but their pens are out of stock now...

GoldenGirl2 - Have you given U2 an honest shot? I love 'em... You have to dig into their catalog a bit to realize that their singles are in no way representative of their sound as a whole...it's well worth it to check them out. I'm not saying you fall in this category, but it bugs me to hear people say they hate U2 and then find out that they've only ever heard the first four songs from The Joshua Tree.
Glitz Man - 17th place? Not bad...! How much time behind first place were you?

So sorry to hear about tornadoes and other scary things, hope all T2Jers are OK.

Do The Stu - you've been sick you poor thing, must have been debilitating whatever it was. Glad you are back, I love your encyclopaedic knowledge of stuff.

Glitzy - well done on the 17th, must have been the rainbow shirt, everyone wanted to run behind you and marvel at it :0). What is your next goal for the next race?

Remember, out loud, in private so you don't look like a dill,

"I want to run this next race in xx mins"

over and over. Good luck.

GG2 - how's the guitar going? I LOVE the electric!! So easy to play any chord, C and F are now easy-peasy. Great feeling to plug it in and go TWANG - it even makes Kumbaya, Auld Lang Syne and Michael Row The Boat sound cool!. Last night I was testing out a Joe-like legato thing it was hilarious because no sound came from the strings (note to self: learn how to hammer on or pull off!).

One thing though - I've been learning on the acoustic sitting down and playing standing up is a different ballgame - can't see the strings so have to tilt the guitar or adjust somehow. I've bought a new cheap acoustic on ebay to practice on as well.

lol chris martin honest and hard working HA that's funny, I don;t consider copying other songs and renaming them hard working at all, and Joe is most definately not a blood sucking leech, you gotta get your facts straight, Joe is a nice guy, he wouldn;t sue if he didn't have a good reason. and only one of the two songs is great the other (VLV) just plain sucks.

on the radio they were giving coldplay tickets as prizes, I wanted to win them just so I could either: have the enjoyment of ripping them up, going to the concert and BOOING, taking my guitar and when they start playing viva la vida, I start playing IF I COULD FLY. holding up a sign sayinf coldplay sucks and JOE SATRIANI RULES.

Yeah.

Jayzus! Nothing like having a close call to set you straight. My husband and I were coming back from the store. The intersection where we turn is a 5 street intersection, but in order to stay on the main strip, the road bends, and you have to get in the middle lane to go with the road, and the right lane to goes off onto the other road - kinda like a Y. We were going to the left and getting in the middle lane. Thank GOD there was no traffic next to us in the right lane because this feckin MAC truck minus the trailer (18 wheeler) came barreling at us in OUR lane! His lane was one lane over to his right (and empty!), but he was in the middle lane of oncoming traffic when he came around. Fux sake man! My husband had to swerve over into the right lane and practically into the parking lane between cars so this guy wouldn't hit us. These roads are usually pretty busy, and we usually always get next to somebody at that point. If another car would have been there, we would have been hit head on. I have no idea if or when the truck guy figured out he was in the wrong feckin lane. I was kinda freaked out and didn't look back to see where he went. This is one time I'm very glad my hubs was driving, cause he did exactly the right thing and saved us. Three blocks from home too.

I get like big mama in a baptist church and thank Jesus like nobody's bidness too!

I think it's time for a cocktail or two. Already told hubs he's my hero.

That was effed up.

Hi Joe !!!!! I am one of your fans in Indonesia. I'm 15 years old this year. I became a fan of you after I watched you 1st time in DVD G3 Live in Concert. I have been playing guitar for 5 years or since I was on the 6th grade at elementary school. I can play your slow song like Starry Night altough it's not 100% clear. My question is WHEN YOU HOLD A CONCERT IN INDONESIA ? it will be very nice to see you at concert in Indonesia or the best if G3. another question is How to make a sound like Screaming (like when your left hand play the handle while i don't know what did your right hand do) at Guitar ? is it must have certain guitar or effect ? that's all. Thank You very much

cannibalmatt - Cherry Lane released a tab book for PSATMOR a few months ago...

Skippygirl - Thanks for the note. I had a bit of a bad cough for three weeks or so. It was weird because usually when I get that I have an ugly sore throat to go with it, but that didn't happen this time around. So I guess it was maybe something slightly different? Who knows...I'm better now, and that's all that matters. ;-)

I saw your comment about learning acoustic guitar...YES it's so important to get your hammer-ons and pull-offs straight. You'll discover the sweet spot behind each fret that make your hammer-ons sound the best, and you'll get in the habit of "plucking" the string with your finger as you do your pull-offs. Once you get that plucking thing down it'll make it so much easier for you to do two-handed tapping stuff. Have fun! :-)

michelle - The Spice Girls? Have you heard Paul Gilbert's cover of 2 Become 1?

And man, that's a close call on the road...glad you're OK!

The Caesar - Hi...welcome to the site. I think Joe played Indonesia a few tours ago...it's not somewhere he goes with each album, but he does play there on occasion so keep looking.

For info on how to do the harmonic scream that Joe does so often, check out this video from his appearance at the Guitar Center in Hollywood last year:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwLLFbps1m0

I think the stuff you want to know starts at about the 7:00 mark, but you'll learn a lot if you watch the whole thing...

Yknow... It's VERY interesting that the arguments FOR Satriani vs Coldplay go like:

The Chord progression is identical because.... The Melody is the same because...... The Tempo is the same.

And the arguments against Satriani are:

You are a b&*^*%*#(*#%^#... and I don't like your music....

..... What compelling arguments from the Coldplay camp.. ooh I think they make some good points there, they've almost convinced me with those hard facts.... :)

ibanez-god - right, I can go to your mic session thing and play Kumbaya at this point :0) but hey I'm aiming high so maybe it won't be too long.

Funny thing is, being an ordinary suburban mum etc I reckon I'm going to look like Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday ( you have to have daughters...) when she has to play lead guitar in place of her daughter (Lindsay Lohan) in her band for the band comp. LL screams at her "just pretend you're Keith Richard!!!!!!!!" and JLC starts grooving from side to side like the guy from the Archies cartoon - in other words I'm NEVER going to look cool playing guitar so I might have to go the Buckethead way........

Good news is the Hal Leonard book arrived today and started reading it at the hair salon - lots of songs I reckon I can tackle.

You must be pretty good to play Midnight etc??????? Any vids?

Excellent Guitar Center Sessions vid. Thanks Austin.

Also, thanks Michelle for the Coldplay 60 Mins vid link.

It's a funny thing; I've followed these guys since they were starting out and always expected them to do well. I really liked the direction they were taking. One time (on a Late Night with Jules Holland TV show), I saw the guitarist wearing a Rush tour shirt which immediately sent them up in my estimation.
Now there's this whole 'they nicked Joe's song' thing going on. I don't know whether they did or not (I somehow doubt it) but I guess the fact that they could have (because Joe recorded a very similar melody first) is all that will matter in the final outcome.

Hi all, been some time. I guess I just never had the time to keep up so I didn't bother trying. Seen some familiar names on the last few pages, good to see!

My take on C**dp**y: (sorry for my bad language haha) catchy simple songs not really anything new or complex, kinda like Nirvana was. They have a nice sound. I enjoy quite a bit of their stuff, mostly from X&Y. When I heard Joe had a complaint about *that* song, I hadn't heard it so I checked out the 'tube and was gobsmacked!!! Holy Crepes! I also thought "man this song is pretty boring and uninteresting" but then Grammy for best song my taste must be poor. Surely it's the same thing over and over again? Dull. Anyway, if it was unintentional (which happens, how many awesome ideas have I had, only to later realise I'd copied someone else?) they could at least apologise or something and not be bottom-holes about it. It's pretty freaking obvious it's the same bit of music.

Joe: congratulations on finally winning a Grammy!!! You're awesome.
