Burly: girls are only referred to as "Shielas" by yobbos!

Talking about deadly things. I found out the other day that a while back (2002) we had a few fatalities occurring up north Queensland coast on a regular basis, and they couldnt work out what was happening for a while.

Turned out it was a tiny jellyfish called Irukandji we get here (add this one to your list), that is about the size of a fingernail! But it has incredibly venomous stingers on it's tendrils and all over it's body.

Irukandji

Hey, a Time Machine VOX turned up at our music shop recently, I'm gonna go in and play with it tonight.

I've noticed a few big bad wahs on ebay too.

Did anyone here pick up the Surfing 20th that went on eBay earlier today? Good bargain whoever snapped it up, well done. Apparently it was brand new being sold as "second hand" to move the stock! Sold for just over 1/2 list price. I almost bid on it.

Skippygirl, don't confuse OWNING lots of nice guitars with an ability to PLAY them. I am still very much a self professed amateur.

I can get some music better than others but keep being foiled by my complete lack of technical ability....

So I buy lots of nice guitars to hide behind! :)

Hello all,..No I'm not up @ this hour to milk the cows, actually not feeling well and couldn't sleep. I knew my friends on the other side of the ball would be awake. I guess some of you West coast ppl are still up.

Roo..only (non gentlemen) refer to girls as Sheilas,. correct?..The Australian version of the American "Redneck".

I am with you on owning the nice guitars, although I think you have me bested,. Man those are some nice axes you have on the site. I am a recovering drummer, not really a guitarist :>)

Oz really is a dangerous place, I never realized that. But Arkansas has mosquitoes as big as a Koala,..well maybe not quite.

phew TGIFF! What a week, shagged is an understatement.

roo - you must play orright to have all those guitars I reckon. The old Tele is fine for me to learn on, but only the little $3.80 amp so no effects etc. Lord knows why I'm trying hammer-ons and bends, first off I have no idea HOW to play them and that's why I CAN'T :0).

Good morning.

Thanks Scuba and Michael..sometimes I need to be jolted a bit to wake me up:>)

For some reason the neck looks a bit wider in the pics...I have never picked one up mind you. To do so I will have to drive 2-3 hours, but am considering in the near future...According to the specs, it is actually a little narrower.

Skippy..I can understand what you are talking about, it was the same for me. I needed to hear a little distortion. All in my head I know, but it did help me. I think the the notes sounding "tinny" was discouraging. You know it's a shame that the original Rockman is so difficult to find, that would help tremendously.

Great news!! Chickenfoot!!!! And you lucky Europeans..I am happy for you...Enjoy!

Maritime- Thanks for the link. Good sounding unit... I mentioned earlier that several years ago I traded some drum equipment in on one of the first Digitech GSP 2101s..It did a lot of things I didn't really need at the time but allowed me to practice with headphones with no need for an amplifier. I married a woman who is not nearly as fond of music as I, so I needed to be quiet:>) Looking back I probably should have bought a Rockman but I have really enjoyed it. I have grown bored with the distortion options available and wanted to add the Satchurator to allow for easier switching. The processor in the original unit is small and makes switching very sluggish in some cases. I wasn't ready for a lot of pedals at the time but now it's time to have a little fun.

Found in Runners World . . .

It's Come to This: the Rotating Ice Cream Cone

by Mark Remy

Do you enjoy ice cream? Are you lazy beyond description? Do you have gobs of disposable income and nothing but contempt for the environment?

If so, you'll love the Motorized Ice Cream Cone.

Here's how the thing is described on one web site selling it, perpetualkid.com:

Very cool kitchen gadget. Load the removable dish with ice cream, push the button and the ice cream turns while you enjoy one of the world's most popular treats. No more licking around the edges of a drippy cone. Fun for all ages. Removable dish is dishwasher safe.

Requires two double AA batteries (not included).

Choose from Pink, Orange, Purple or Green.

And here's how it's described on the web site of the Landfill Prize, established by some indignant Brits as "a monument to perverse imagination and needless consumption," which ranked the Motorized Ice Cream Cone #1 among "Britain's cleverest rubbish" for 2009:

For those too lazy to twist their wrists when eating an ice-cream, there is this stupid gadget. You pop your cone in it, stick your tongue out and it does all the hard work for you, ensuring no drips get onto your hand. You can even stick it in the dishwasher – no need to waste energy on washing up.

I have to side with the indignant Brits on this one.

I mean, come on. Have we really sunk this low? What's next, a battery-operated fork that twirls your spaghetti for you? (Oh, wait...) And am I the only one who runs just a little bit harder, or farther, on his next run after seeing something like this, in some Quixotic attempt to balance the cosmic scales of effort and sloth?

By the way, the last time I checked perpetualkid.com, the Motorized Ice Cream Cone was sold out.
