ferfuxache, trolls again. But wait, this one actually has a sense of humour!
My radio show was aired today, I caught a bit of it, and guess what came on? Summer song and Revelation (i know, thank me later). It was great to hear some proper music around college for a change. Not the usual...er, cow dung.

Zen:were saying same thing again in diff ways but thought i,d throw the concept in of creative technique as well

The way i see it is hard work alone doesnt accommodate the pioneering work such as Frank Gambales economy picking, Stanley Jordans eight finger tapping etc imo is from the same place as composition even if the pendulum sways heavy towards satisfying the ego, i find that kind of vision worthy of applause because its given a quality to music that previously didnt exist

You dont need great technique t write great music infact y dont need t play an instrument at all if you can write & score for orchestra

Further thoughts....take away the solo instrument in any great classical work & it stands on its own.The great composers new this was of paramount importance

anyway time t feed the lil guy n work some more midi parts cya

Al:i always thought the 24th was midsummer :( oh well

Everything in life can be related to The Simpsons, so...I'm tempted to sing the Just Don't Look song from the Attack of the 50-foot Eyesores segment in Treehouse of Horror VI, when the advertisements come to life and attack everyone.

It's a bit subtle, but I think you guys get me...

Satriella - "I wonder if JOE has his hands insured? "

I think a few years ago (Crystal Planet era, maybe?) Joe said he looked into it but it was so much of a hassle that he didn't bother...

death cube k - I'm glad I can say I've never heard the original Miley Cyrus song, but I like your recording.
cosmic_ape - Who are some of the famous people you've run into? I've met a lot of my favorite musicians and a few other celebrities, but I've never just ran into someone on the street out of the blue.
hrblocked - You're welcome! I'll take advantage of any opportunity I have to turn people on to Porcupine Tree. What are some of your favorite songs, initially?
Listening to: Paul Gilbert - Space Ship One (current song: Mr. Spock)

I've been following the Metallica "Comedy Show" chapters on YouTube. When their orignial guitarist was leaving and Kirk Hammett arrived, they got into this goofy dialog that I can only think of as The Metallica Comedy Show in chapters as short as 3 to 5 seconds. Those guys are so funny! Lars had this 3 word quip, "Rust in peace" which isn't that funny at face value, but the way he said it was funny.

Steve Vai has a humorous way of looking at things. He cracks me up! He even goofs on himself when he was a little kid. What a healthy way to look at life! Btw, Steve is giving an "Alien Guitar Secrets" class/workshop/conference in San Diego this weekend. Check it out on Vai.com!

Mr. McKenna--How are you and your guitars getting along? Have they continued to be flexible for ya? I can't imagine any guitar not bending to your touch! A real musician has a touch that tends to melt.....or soften the surface of any instrument he/she touches!

Michelle--You are THE MIGHTY ONE and you will win!!!! You don't have to take shit from anyone. Do things that you enjoy and search for that special job at your local library!

Cosmic Ape - I met Sidney Pointier in Hollywood once. Actually I met David Haselhoff in Las Vegas on the same trip too. He looked healthier then :0).

I gather you are studying music?

Do The Stu - I liked the Porc Tree too, thanks for that.

ibanez-god - wow Egypt sounds great, go for it if the body holds up.

well, if you must know... I've seen Rob Thomas cross the street a couple of times... Dr. Phil, Jason Lee from "My name is Earl", Kate Beckinsale (she is hot!)... Since M.I. is on Hollywood Blvd. I saw Cate Blanchett get her star(as I was walking to school), and William Petersen from CSI got his a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't stick around cuz I had to work (I actually wanted to meet him)...

Because I go to Musicians Institute, I also get to meet cool musicians, but I guess that doesn't count...

you guys remember "Grounded for life"??? I saw the guy who played the grampa today on my way to school...

There's more, but I can't remember right now... anyway, I do really want to meet Steve Carrell, that will be so cool... I'd so yell at him "That's what she said", or something...

Chee & GG, turns out karma took it's course, and my bitchass dept. head was made to clean out the break room fridge today. The shelves and drawers were so gross and some were so sticky from ppl laying soda bottles on their sides, it took her half the day to unassemble everything, clean it, and put it back in. When I went in to make my lunch, I asked her if she was going to clean the microwaves (2) also. She was bitching that she doesn't use the fridge or microwaves and shouldn't have to clean any of it - and she was pissed :-) A bit later she walked past me and said she was now being made to clean the microwaves too. I laughed so loud!! She got all pissy and said she should make ME do it, and I laughed louder! Like she has that power. Get back in the effin kitchen ya feckin douche! What a piece of work that one is. Her judgment day is gonna be very entertaining... and long!

Skippy, the Obama elf was funny. I'm 10 pages behind on answering posts.

Chee, how sweet it is!! I'll mail ya then. Check both addys.

Slan, gave my addy to Ronnie, so yer WH cd should be on the way some time this year. lol!

After 8:00 pm and I still haven't had dinner. What's going on here? Guess my hour and a half nap got in the way.

Now playing ~ Lively Up Yourself

Holy-Bliven!

Government officials really aren't that helpful, are they? I just had to spend the past 2 weeks solving my Visa issues that should have been solved months ago and should not have even occured in the first place! Whichmade me bump my flight from this Sunday to Wednesday!

Just a heads up; I'm travelling to England to backpack around Europe for 2 years. God knows how my fingers will hold up not playing guitar for a while, but it's something I gotta do.

Skippygirl - I have the same question for you...what Porcupine Tree songs did you like most?

Tostado - I'm a big Riverside fan...it's good to hear someone else knows who they are. I know I've mentioned them once or twice here but no one has said anything.

You need to get Out Of Myself and Second Life Syndrome ASAP.

cosmic_ape - Kate Beckinsale is my favorite actress...I'm jealous. ;-) I think Jason Lee is a great actor too, but I haven't seen My Name Is Earl. I know him from Almost Famous...

"I saw Cate Blanchett get her star(as I was walking to school)"

Haha...that's great! I went to a Walk Of Fame ceremony for KLOS disc jockey Jim Ladd in 2005. I was able to shake his hand and get an autograph...it was very cool. There were a lot of celebrities there...members of the Doors and Tom Petty's band, and even some unexpected (to me) people like Woody Harrelson.

ansr - Chickenfoot is actually the name of the band. They have a website, http://www.chickenfoot.us...if you go there you can watch a short video and add your email address to their mailing list.
cheese101 - Thanks for finding those interview clips.

And someone's going to say it, so it might as well be me...I'm sure it's just the video quality, but Joe's hat looks like it's decorated with condoms.

Aaanyway, please wish Chris a happy birthday from me...

El Nicko - That sounds like a fun trip. Have a great time, and if you find yourself somewhere with internet access please stop by and let us know how you're doing...
Listening to: Paul Gilbert - Get Out Of My Yard (current song: Marine Layer)

Man, what a beautiful song...

&playnext&indexyeap.. you don't need lot of technics to make honnorable music. & technics is not enough to make honnorable music.

So what?

It's given to very few to be real composer/virtuoso.

I don't want to feed the shredding polemic, but after several years spent onto the web, i had to constate that lot of guys called shredders run onto scales via exactly the sames ways. This lack of original style & tone is boring.

I discovered guitar with the miraculous genius Edward Van Halen. It was like being in front of Mike Tyson.. holy shit. It has been for me the absolute KO. After him, you can count the energic rounds.

I remember when i was younger & discovered Joe with SWTA. Never got the sensation to listen to technical ability, but simply instrumental music.

& finally, even if the guitar work onto scales has considerably evolved, not a single guitar player is able to make me forget:

Mr Alvin Lee

yeap.. style, tone, energy, feeling are what i like.
