Man, that article is a great little tidbit! Surely we have to be about a month away from release right? If they tour this summer surely they want a couple months of air play and cd sales before they crank it up on the road. I love the comment Sammy made about Joe. That's strong considering he played for a decade with Eddie.

Hey peeps, my sis is going in for her surgery tomorrow (Thurs) at 10:30a.m. est. She's going to have a Meningoma (tumor) the size of a lemon removed from the surface of her brain. If you would be so kind to say a prayer and/or send her some good vibes, my family and I would greatly appreciate it. Her name is Brenda. She's had bits of her head shaved tonight and has electrode looking things glued to her head...at least I think they're glued? :-/ My other sis who's with her sent me a pic of her. They're staying overnight at a hotel close to the hospital, which is over 2 hours away. I'll be a nervous wreck tomorrow, so bear with me if I get stupid.

I told her I'd ask my "Joe friends" to pray for her, and that made her feel good.

Thanks to everyone who's already said a prayer, sent good vibes, or even just thought about my family.

Cube, thanks hon. Best wishes to yer sis for a healthy life. That's a hard battle to beat. It's great to know it's a battle that can be won. Hopefully my sister's tumors aren't cancerous. They say 99% of them aren't, so we all have our fingers crossed.

Jayzus, I haven't seen 1 a.m. for a while...

Bloody hell Joe, you made me look like a right GIT!

:)

Oh, no wait, I did that on my own! LOL!

Good to hear from you Joe, I think you underestimate the impact a little blue has on all of us.

I had only one question then, do the loyal T2J satchers get a preview of chickenfoot? Cmon, throw us a little soap on a rope!

CHICKENFOOT is heating up :) :) :)

Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith team up for supergroup and give Classic Rock the exclusive lowdown.

The name Chickenfoot doesn’t exactly conjure up visions of a union between some of rocks mightiest musical behemoths; in fact it sounds more like a nasty side effect of bird flu.

“It was just supposed to be a bullshit name that we’d used for a while,” former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony told Classic Rock. “And then the rumours spread about the band, everybody used that name so we thought, ‘fuck it, let’s call it Chickenfoot - it all comes down to the music anyway.”

Featuring Sammy Hagar (vocals), Joe Satriani (guitar), Chad Smith (drums) and Anthony; this million-dollar quartet are reluctant to call themselves a supergroup as a modest Smith explained: “We’re not a supergroup, we like hanging out together and the music is a bonus. We just happen to be in other groups.”

Classic Rock caught up with the band at Hagar’s recording studio in San Francisco where the ever ebullient Red Rocker explained the origins of the band.

“It started off with me, Michael and Chad jamming at my club-Cabo Wabo-in Mexico. Then people started asking us when we were going to tour, make a record etc. So I said if we’re going to do this properly then we’re going have to get a guitarist, let’s talk to Joe Satriani. As far as I’m concerned he’s the best guitarist in the world.”
The band made their official debut a year ago in Las Vegas at a Hagar concert where they played a three song covers set (including Zep’s Rock’n’Roll and Traffic’s Dear Mr Fantasy). Since then they have managed to record an album’s worth of material with Andy Johns and Mike Fraser at the helm. They are currently putting together a tour of Europe’s festivals this summer, which will include some shows in the UK.

“Europe is where I want this band to start, I feel so guilty that I haven’t played Europe in years,” Hagar revealed.

Classic Rock was given an exclusive preview of three tracks from the band’s eponymously titled debut. Soap On A Rope and Sexy Little Thing have the humour and loose feel of prime Halen, with the unbridled energy of Montrose. Avenida Revolution is an epic political anthem about the troubles on the Mexican/American border and has all the making of a classic.

“I’m not looking for fortune and fame out of this. I’ve had enough of that to last five times,” explained Hagar, maybe referring to selling an 80 percent interest in his Cabo Wabo tequila company for $80 million. “So pull that out of the equation, what am I doing it for? The music and enjoyment.”

Right just me then.........

So who's in Europe and the UK and who's GOING to Europe and the UK to see Chickenfoot? As much as I love Australia sometimes the distance is a pain.

If you form a tour group please make sure you take a banner again for all the T2Jers - maybe you could list us all by name?????? And loads of pics.

Oh yeah, the BLUE!!! It softens my eyes (...and the shouting in-between blinds them...) more of that blue, good to hear from you Joe.

michelle: No idea al, they're interchangeable imo just like Starsky & Hutch. Who cared what their names were. lol! It's what they did with the car. lol!

Jayzus, now they're testing kids books for lead. They're making it mandatory to test kids books made after 1985. Who the hell can afford that? Just make kids wear a seat belt and helmet when they read them and everything will be a-okay. Geez man, if kids wouldn't eat so many books we wouldn't have this problem. What I want to know is... if lead is supposed to make kids IQ drop, how smart would kids who are reading all the books be if they didn't read those books and be exposed to lead? And what about the kids who never read? Are they just eating the pages and getting stupider? Is stupider even a word? I would know that if I wouldn't have eaten those books I shouldn't have read. hahahahaha

All the sick/sad/unemployed people: not awesome, been there. Hope you all get better.

Thats it! I'm flying to Europe to see Chickenfoot. Anyone happy to put me up for a few nights?

If anyone is thinking of following the tour for a few stops (when we know the itinerary) let me know and I'll come along if you don't mind!

See you in Europe Joe!
