Jayzus! Nothing like having a close call to set you straight. My husband and I were coming back from the store. The intersection where we turn is a 5 street intersection, but in order to stay on the main strip, the road bends, and you have to get in the middle lane to go with the road, and the right lane to goes off onto the other road - kinda like a Y. We were going to the left and getting in the middle lane. Thank GOD there was no traffic next to us in the right lane because this feckin MAC truck minus the trailer (18 wheeler) came barreling at us in OUR lane! His lane was one lane over to his right (and empty!), but he was in the middle lane of oncoming traffic when he came around. Fux sake man! My husband had to swerve over into the right lane and practically into the parking lane between cars so this guy wouldn't hit us. These roads are usually pretty busy, and we usually always get next to somebody at that point. If another car would have been there, we would have been hit head on. I have no idea if or when the truck guy figured out he was in the wrong feckin lane. I was kinda freaked out and didn't look back to see where he went. This is one time I'm very glad my hubs was driving, cause he did exactly the right thing and saved us. Three blocks from home too.

I get like big mama in a baptist church and thank Jesus like nobody's bidness too!

I think it's time for a cocktail or two. Already told hubs he's my hero.

I saw your comment about learning acoustic guitar...YES it's so important to get your hammer-ons and pull-offs straight. You'll discover the sweet spot behind each fret that make your hammer-ons sound the best, and you'll get in the habit of "plucking" the string with your finger as you do your pull-offs. Once you get that plucking thing down it'll make it so much easier for you to do two-handed tapping stuff. Have fun! :-)

Hi all, been some time. I guess I just never had the time to keep up so I didn't bother trying. Seen some familiar names on the last few pages, good to see!

My take on C**dp**y: (sorry for my bad language haha) catchy simple songs not really anything new or complex, kinda like Nirvana was. They have a nice sound. I enjoy quite a bit of their stuff, mostly from X&Y. When I heard Joe had a complaint about *that* song, I hadn't heard it so I checked out the 'tube and was gobsmacked!!! Holy Crepes! I also thought "man this song is pretty boring and uninteresting" but then Grammy for best song my taste must be poor. Surely it's the same thing over and over again? Dull. Anyway, if it was unintentional (which happens, how many awesome ideas have I had, only to later realise I'd copied someone else?) they could at least apologise or something and not be bottom-holes about it. It's pretty freaking obvious it's the same bit of music.

SuperDaveMcCarthy: How's the band and music going? We have had our 48 hours of warm 50-60 degree weather here and now it is back in the 30s. Hope you and the family are doing well.

Zinc Master: I have been running for 12 years and counting. I started running since the seventh grade when I did junior high cross-country and track for my school(s). How long have you been running? I love to run. It releases my stress, it's a hobby, etc. for me. When is your Valpo-Mini and is that race filled up, or is there any open entries? I'm planning on doing the half-marathon again.

Cheese101: I know how you feel. My parents kind of do the same thing. They prefer to stay inside and keep warm and watch movies. For me, I will either run, listen to music, or even do sudoku.

Skippygirl: Maybe it was my tye-dye shirt that caught a lot of attention. As for my next race this upcoming Saturday, on Valentine's Day, I think I am going to aim for that time again, but I want to try to get a faster time. By the way, I won't be wearing the tye-dye until future races. I did wear it when we had our first Fort-4-Fitness Half Marathon here in Fort Wayne and a lot of people were commenting on that shirt. They liked it a lot and wanted to have it. Hey check out this website: www.fort-4-fitness.org. Maybe you could travel over in the U.S. and do this event. We had over 3,000 people doing this. People all over the U.S. came, and hopefully some folks from out of the country will come as well. I'm planning on doing the half-marathon.

I bought the house from a sweet little elderly lady. Her husband had died in the home and she'd been alone for many months and decided she wanted to move to the coast to be closer to her kids. So in we moved.....and of course with us came noise...guitar, amp, you get the picture. Nothing happened at first, never gave it a thought, except for the fact that every so often I'd get a very strong wiff of maple syrup in various parts of the house...with no actual syrup in sight. But didn't think much of it.

Then one day...Chris is in the kitchen, I'm in the living room, and a small picture my gramma had embroidered fell off the wall to the floor. It said "Bless This House". I fussed at Chris because I thought he'd done it, picked it up and put it back on the nail and walked into the kitchen with Chris. We both heard the picture go down again....but first we heard it scrape UP the nail before it fell. Metal on metal. I picked it up again and looked at the nail, thinking maybe it had fallen downwards and that's why the picture had fallen, but no...it was still secure and in an upright position in the wall. The picture had to TRAVEL UP THE NAIL to have fallen off...nothing wrong with the hanger on the picture either, it was solid in the wood frame. And then a very strong smell of syrup. We were just a tetch freaked at that point, to say the least....

The next day Chris and I walked around every room of the house and said our own house blessing, telling the man thank you for the beautiful flowers he'd planted, the nice house he'd provided, but that his wife had moved on and it was time for him to move on as well. We thought maybe that would take care of it......

But the following day, Chris was home alone and when I got there from work, he was outside with huge eyes. He'd just walked down the hallway towards the kitchen, and as he walked he heard loud thumping on the wall behind him, following him down the hallway. There was no one else there. I took him inside thinking nahhhhhhh....but there was the smell of syrup again....and a few good thunks that I heard...I guess he was making a point, LOL....I grabbed Chris and some clothes and out the door we went to my parent's house for the night.

We ended up having our minister come over for a proper house blessing and I think that did it...although every once in a great while I still smelled maple syrup for no reason. But no more flying pictures or noises. Found out long after this that the man had really enjoyed pancakes in his last few months he was alive....and also found out his wife had passed away. I like to think he went off to finally be with her again and take her home.
