Mr. Satriani and the rest of the band, I would just like to say that your music is a true gift to the world. I am an avid listener of music (not a musician due to a dreadful lack of talent) and yours is able to reach deep into the heart of the listener and pluck the strings of the soul. Listening to you is a truly transcendental experience. Your songs are able to pull emotion from the listener, and take the mind and ear on a truly spiritual journey to new heights of musical joy.

I have found very few artists that are capable of this. There are plenty of good musicians in the world but you are truly masters of your art and set a bar so high that few may attain it.

I would like to thank you for your music and for being so down to earth as to communicate with your fans rather than viewing them as just the necessary component to fill your bank account. You are a true artist and everyone can learn from your example.

cheese101 - I was born in May 1983, so I would've been almost 22 during those shows.

It's cool that age limits won't keep him from Satch shows, but I bet the same thing happens to him that happened to me...now that it doesn't matter, Joe will start playing all-ages venues. ;-)

SuperSwingDog - Yeah, you're probably right...there isn't a whammy pedal in CRATS, is there?
Glitz Man - You're only turning 24? Ah...I thought you were a bit older than that (a compliment, by the way).

Work for me is...work. I'm not liking my job all that much lately, and I'm actually looking for a new one. We'll see how that plays out, I guess...

SuperSwingDog - Congrats on going back to work! That's great news. Sure good to see the house prices still coming down. There are an incredible amount of houses that have been on the market here over 180 days. Havent seen that in a very long time!! Maybe the new builds will be able to get back in line with the current market first, and you will be gainfully employed for a long time to come!!

Glitzman - It's going good here. No ice storms or tornadoes lately, so that's been all good!

Do the Stu - What's got you down about your job? Is it just the paper you work for or the media period? I don't know if I mentioned or not, but I had was a military journalist and had landed a job with a Fox affiliate in Jax Florida in 1993 and decided to bail on the media. My dream was to get into sports, but I had to start as a news reporter. I had real morale differences with the media and decided it was best for me to pursue a different career.

SuperSwingDog - love the new name, that's great news about going back to work, spose you can now get some more guitars and pedals :))

Glitzy - I love your posts, you erase all negativity and make everything happy! Hope the leg-rest is good for the next race. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow!!! I recommend a Mojito myself, drink of choice amongs my crowd at the moment.

The fires were awful but yes an enormous amount of funds and relief effort was raised. Still some fires burning but under control. I think it will take a few years for the grief, loss and effects of the trauma to work it's way out of those communities - it isn't just a case of re-building your house. I am glad that people are more and more saying that they will just evacuate in the future and not try to save their houses (although this time nobody had any warning).

I bought a 2nd hand Fender acoustic and I am trying real hard to get 20-30 mins practice in every day. Songs sound bad :( but I am focussing on trying to hit the correct sound from the chord and building switching speed so I actually do more exercises than playing songs at this point. Mind you, I listen to Joe going to and from work in the car and I desperately want to be able to play something like Summer Song or Turkey Man soon!! The electric is put away for a little while until we move back into our house is a week or so.

roo - your site is looking really good. I think I have a vinyl you don't have - woo hoo! (but you have hundreds of things I don't have :( ). Does your wife enjoy Joe as well and go to the shows? Would like some fellow fans to rock with when he comes out again. Saw the Linkedin group too.

ibanez-god - thanks for all your kind posts re the geetar, I really aprreciate it. Hope you can find work soon - I thought you were a pro musician actually - can you make that musical and guitar knowledge pay for you? give lessons?

SuperSwingDog - Congrats! :-) Is it just like things were? Are you full-time right away, or...?

Tostado - I don't quite think of Tony Hawk when I hear that song...interesting, though.

To me, it sounds like a cross between Montrose's Rock Candy and Sammy Hagar's Little White Lie, if both songs were from the late 60s.

hybes - I love journalism...I'm only bummed about the company I work for. The paper I work for is part of a group of eight or so in the Los Angeles area, and in a month or two all of our jobs are moving to West Covina (45 minutes away, in the middle of nowhere). So we'll all be working on all of the papers in a combined desk, and it's all going to be really unorganized and horrible.

I'm actually leaning toward quitting when that happens, but I don't have any other work lined up just yet. On top of this, I've had to take five furlough days (unpaid time off) in February/March...that just sucks. Anyway, I'll have more to say later...

michelle - Ah, I hadn't heard that your hours were cut...when did that happen, and how bad was it?

...Austin...

yes, I am safe after being invaded by screaming teenagers and soccer moms... I had arranged everything so I didn't have to leave the house at all yesterday, but the wifey got a gig she could not refuse and I ended up stuck in traffic anyways, grrrr...

Austin, I feel you man, I absolutely hate my job... It is the most meaningless shit I have ever done and the worst part is that I probably have to suck it up for at least two more years until I'm done with school... I am glad to hear you were born in May '83, so was I!!!

Skippygirl!

Shame, shame, shame. You can't possibly say that and not tell me WHICH vinyl!

I almost bought another js3 a week or so ago. But told Rich as I couldn't get the money, so he got it. It would have been a fight for it if I could have got the money.

SuperSwingDog--Great news to hear you have work! Hope all goes well.

Michelle--How are your kittehs doing? Is that funny guy puffing out at any noises, sights or smells lately? That was a great post some time back when he puffed out when hearing "that ghetto shit" lmao!! Cats are great entertainers!

Tracie--Happy birthday to your Chris! Wow! Twenty-one and staying on the Satchland road! I hope to catch up with you on that happy road to Satch heaven!!

Skippygirl, Slans, Al Mc--I love playing my guitar. I'm learning Pete Townshend's riffs to "Shakin' All Over". Ry showed me how to set the heel of my hand on the bridge to mute the low E string, A and D strings. Then I go E,E up an octave to E,E (4th string), open D,D ; B,B (5th string) and repeat. It sounds so coool!

Maritime--The lies, fraud, shredding of the US constitution and the complacency of government to checks, balances and needed regulation as well as Guantanamo have been so embarrassing to me. I was beginning to think the real United States of America was dying from the inside out. That's why I voted for Barak Obama and he is in office now. We had to take his word on faith that he will turn this country back to the rule of law and gain back respect from our allies that was lost at least since 9/11/01! We approached that tragedy so badly, I don't know where to begin to untangle the snarls of despicable lies and fraud involved! We were supposed to approach that attack as a criminal case NOT a case of war. How do you get through to a fraudulant President Bush that it was a Justice Strategy to be pursued NOT a war strategy??? The oligarchy we US citizens find ourselves in now is a mockery of what we were. That's why the middle class (or what is left of it) must organize and be in continuous contact (if necessary) with our elected officials in Washington, DC! It looked like you brought a concrete wall to this forum to ensnare us US citizens--NOT SO! I guess you just wanted to see who is awake here. You are still a Dutch Brother among brothers. ;-)

Mikesb--Thanks for the Simon and Garfunkel, The Boxer--great song. So many great ones.

Joe--I have 8 of your albums on CD and it's not enough. Wish I could just buy all the rest, but my savings keeps shrinking and I've been losing hours at work--no work, no pay! I am determined to set a goal for each month--at least one. I'll see where this takes me.

My Steve will be celebrating his double nickles birthday on Wednesday. I wish I could give him a cure for epilepsy then. It's so tough. Three doctors and no answer yet---what to do??? ;-/ What I can give him is tickets to see Zappa Plays Zappa in Santa Cruz next week on Wednesday. It should be a good concert.

Jeff Beck will be at the Fox Theater in Oakland on April 23. Tickets went on sale yesterday.
