It's a very cool day when you check your e-mail and see messages from Satriani AND Dream Theater. It almost makes up for having a network switch burn out and a whole telecomm closet lose power due to construction...

BURLY: Regarding your English as a second language questions, in my particular case I live across the border from the US (I can literally see Texas from my son's bedroom), and here English is considered a needed skill, kids study it since elementary. It also depends on the quality of the teachers you come across and the effort u put into it, but it is certainly not a hobby or an afterschool activity for us. And it's like that in many other parts of the world.

And while it is tempting to go into a discussion about how the US views the rest of the world, we shall leave that for another forum. This is not the place :)

Cheese..I got it!! I was out for a while with the family eating Italian food...Thanks guys for the help.

elpp..I can understand what you mean by our views. I actually ran a large soybean seed facility for a second full time job between 2000-2007. I became very good friends with some guys from Mexico that I employed. They learn English very easily,..I can't say I had a huge success with learning Spanish..but I tried.

Chickenfoot..I bet you lucky Californians will get to see the first gigs.

and congrats on yer first successful post, now....go forth and post away, lol!

Did everyone see the Chickenfoot news??? This is my favorite part:

The band is planning on performing the entire CD as well as songs from each of the band members careers. So, expect to hear some classics from Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and some blazin’ Joe Satriani instrumentals! It’s going to be a great year for rock ‘n’ roll!

Holee feckin GAD.....BRING IT ON!!!

Tracie..I knew they should have it.. Thanks.

Nic...The jargon gets to be a little confusing to me. I can watch some of the tutorials on the net and these guys are rattling off computer terms. When you get away from Word, Excel and Powerpoint you lose me pretty quickly.

The last time I was in a studio was 1985...I just really would like to have something to lay down a few tracks more for fun and not spend a wad of money. I looked at some of the digital multi -track units but have not made up my mind yet.

Itunes is DRM free now. It's ok to get onboard with them. You are not STUCK with them any longer. Plus the podcasts are really good. Searching...I left a rating. Any way of getting the word out is all good.

Maritime-Thanks for the help. and cool MySpace page. I guess I need to start one. I have had my own website for nearly 10 years and haven't updated once...I get enough business without having to but am really ashamed that I haven't taken the time.

QUESTION FOR JOE: What size venues will you be targeting for the U.S.?...The reason I ask is that Sammy and the Wabos played ASU Convocation Center a few years back. I can start working on my buddies in Jonesboro to bring Chickenfoot to town if you think that could be a possibility.

A side story on Sammy and Jonesboro: As you know Sammy puts fans on stage behind the band @ the bar drinking tequila...Jonesboro being in a "dry" county, meaning no alcohol sales meant that they could not consume alcohol. Sammy was like"What the F... is a DRY COUNTY? He was blown away...Sammy this IS the Bible belt...Actually it had nothing to do with religion, it was more the select few who had a private liquor permit had a political pull to keep anyone else from doing so.

Argh...it's impossible to catch up with things around here if you miss a few days. I guess I shouldn't get sick. ;-) I'll just jump back in.

So...CHICKENFOOT! I'm psyched about the possible club tour before the band heads to Europe. My future work schedule is kind of up in the air, though, so I hope I'm able to see a show.

The news about the setlists including songs from everyone's other bands doesn't come as a surprise to me...this band only has one album, after all.

What are everyone's setlist predictions? I figure we'll get two songs tops from each person's other band.

I bet Joe will do Satch Boogie, and if he gets a second song it'll be something like One Big Rush, Ice Nine, or Surfing With The Alien.

I think obvious Van Halen choices are from 5150...maybe Best Of Both Worlds and Why Can't This Be Love.

I only own one Red Hot Chili Peppers album so I'm not sure what we'd get from them, but I think Give It Away or their cover of Higher Ground would fit in with the Chickenfoot vibe.

Personally, I wish Chickenfoot would do at least some music their other bands don't do regularly...it'd be neat to hear a Satch song like Back To Shalla-Bal or something like Judgement Day from Van Halen. Actually, I'd almost prefer Sammy Hagar solo material instead of multiple Van Halen songs. Or do something else entirely...I'd rather hear a Led Zeppelin cover instead of Satch Boogie for the 23rd time. I know I've been fortunate enough to have seen Joe more than most people here, but I think you get my point...

Anyway, I'm writing a lot...I'll stop. ;-)

Listening to: Van Halen - For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (current song: In 'N' Out)

...Austin...

Well it's 10.43pm Sunday here now, I guess all our American/Canadian/Mexican freinds will be in bed :0).

Just had a lovely dinner with friends since my new kitchen is finally operational.

Only 1 hr guitar practice this weekend due to all my other duties....didn't get back to Ten Words yet but lots of other stuff is sounding much better. Practiced the two octave scale and "Simple Gifts".

Dumb Question #28 - since your 2nd finger is the longest and your 4th the shortest how the heck do you play notes with those fingers in succession???? i.e. 5th string 8th fret then 10th fret do you curl your 2nd up and stretch out the 4th because you can't hold your hand in the same position......aarrgghhhhhhh

BTW what email did you all receive about Chickenfoot cos I sure as hell didn't get one?

Just got back from a 45 mile bike ride...ever so slightly tiring :) Oh, and last night I dreamt I bought a 'Time Machine', good I hear you say...it was red though. Did complement the Sathurator well I must say...
Cosmic_ape: Ok, you're old. But I'm not, and I still much prefer to actually have a CD I can put on in the car or on a good stereo as opposed to being shackled to the Comp whenever I want to listen to music. Still cannot beat the feel of Vinyl though. I would love to be able to buy vinyl and download the songs for free as well.
