SkippyGirl: Would love to catch up with all the Aussie T2J'ers at a show. The only one I know is fatape, he's my best bud. The rest of the world will have to wait. Let's face it, we sure do have some characters in here. If anyone makes it big time, with mega bucks, you gotta get us all together, hire CF and put on a show like the Best Buys group had. What say we all....

scuby - my office is only a couple of km from Albert Park where the GP is, the track is actually around Albert Park Lake, should Google Earth it see the size of it.
From tomorrow we will hear all the screaming of the cars going round in practice and warmups. Friends who work in offices around the perimeter of the lake will have GP parties on the rooftops of the office blocks and watch the cars going round. Also get heaps of aircraft going overhead for the whole 4 days. I'll watch it on TV it's 5pm Sunday this year to cater for the international audiences more.

Joe, how long did it take from the time you first picked up the guitar to the time you played something remotely pleasant-sounding? If I take that and multiply by a factor of 10 I should be able to estimate when the heck I will be able to play a song (any song!) properly and without mistakes, and in time.........:0)

burly - let's hope you're right. Here's something new I learnt last night -
1. electric guitars are really heavy if you are standing up, and the strap rubs your neck
2. if you stand up the neck keeps falling down toward the floor and you have to try to keep the neck up and play the notes at the same time
3. when you stand up the guitar body is REALLY vertical unlike when you sit and hunch over it, and you don't get as good a visual of the first 3 strings compared to sitting down with head bent over it
4. I can't become a rock goddess without standing up so somehow I have to conquer 1,2 and 3 :0)

Thanks Roo.....You're the best....."The dots are where I say they are"....:-)
Skippy- the tele is heavy...You are a tiny one aren't you?...I'm guessing you have the strap adjusted all the way in.?.?.I am a player not a teacher so if any of you others have a different idea, fire away, but...I would concentrate on learning sitting down if you can't cure the problem with the strap. You don't need that distraction, and besides as you learn you will " feel " where you are on the neck, and then you can make the transition to standing.
Roo............LOL...Is skippy that small?..would she benefit from learning on a Mikro?..Or is the mikro any lighter than the tele?. I have never picked one up.
