Take Down the Bird Feeder

The analogy is absolutely right on . . ..

Maxine tells it like it is!!!!

I bought a bird feeder. I hung

it on my back porch and filled

it with seed. What a beauty of

a bird feeder it is, as I filled it

lovingly with seed. Within a

week we had hundreds of birds

taking advantage of the

continuous flow of free and

easily accessible food.

But then the birds started

building nests in the boards

of the patio, above the table,

and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was

everywhere: on the patio tile,

the chairs, the table ...

everywhere!

Then some of the birds

turned mean. They would

dive bomb me and try to

peck me even though I had

fed them out of my own

pocket.

And others birds were

boisterous and loud. They

sat on the feeder and

squawked and screamed at

all hours of the day and night

and demanded that I fill it

when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even

sit on my own back porch

anymore. So I took down the

bird feeder and in three days

the birds were gone. I cleaned

up their mess and took down

the many nests they had built

all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like

it used to be.... quiet, serene

and no one demanding their

rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.

Our government gives out

free food, subsidized housing,

free medical care, and free

education and allows anyone

born here to be an automatic

citizen.

Then the illegal came by the

tens of thousands. Suddenly

our taxes went up to pay for

free services; small apartments

are housing 5 families; you

have to wait 6 hours to be seen

by an emergency room doctor;

your child's 2nd grade class is

behind other schools because

over half the class doesn't speak

English.

Corn Flakes now come in a

bilingual box; I have to

"press one" to hear my bank

talk to me in English, and

people waving flags other

than "Old Glory" are

squawking and screaming

in the streets, demanding

more rights and free liberties...

Just my opinion, but maybe

it's time for the government

to take down the bird feeder.

Igneous - I looked back at when I was first going to get a Trek madone. The (in effect) same model is more than double in price now.... ahh, hindsight! You're probably right about T2J on the brain

Roo - ah dude, one JS3's enough. Don't get greedy or you'll have to change yer nick to RooRich (see what I did there??). At least you know it'll be well looked after. You should have got Gary to put a Joe setup on yer geetar, that would be awesome

Cube - got a Zakk story to share with us yet? How did you two start hanging out - through work? I can't imagine it's anything like the you & Al love story....

Cheese - no I didn't think Chrispie had the money for a JS20th but that's not to say he didn't have a lovely mommy who bought him one to replace his 1200CA? So you've got a 20th & a Chromey is that right (drool..........................)? He he, if Chris hooked his amp up a la Back to the Future it could give new meaning to Flying in a Blue Dream

Skippygirl - wow, that's a long renevation. Must have been major major. Got some before and after shots? Yep, you can use the metronome like that if you want... one times virtual seat reserved. Depending on venues etc I'm thinking I may only be catching a/couple UK gigs before a Stateside one. We should all hit one gig there, it would be mega!

Sounds like you have a plan for the guitar so just stick with it and I'm guessing you'll get way more time to practice now. Regarding TAB, it's a good way to learn. Maybe buy yourself the Cherry Lane version of SWTA ? Good luck, keep us posted

Skippygirl - Yeah, Roswell is the alien place. There really isn't much to see there today, though, and it's a few hours out of the way of everything else so I'm not sure it's worth going to. We'll see, though...

I'll probably put about 2,000 miles on my car over the four days, but that doesn't bother me too much (and it's not required, like it apparently is in Australia...crazy!). I really do love driving. Actually, I got the idea for the trip when I realized that if I stayed at home for that time off all I'd do is sit here and listen to music. So instead, I'll sit in my car and listen to music...while actually going somewhere.

My favorite songs from those sessions would be Slick, which is available on Joe's Anthology album...you don't have that yet, do you?

Your suggestions are really making things difficult for me...I was planning on going way east and you're making me want to go mroe north. Thanks... ;-)

Igneous - you so confused me I'm not sure if I'm posting this or not. 47 miles hey, road or mtb? I did a full stage distance once (alone) but am nowhere near that fitness level at the mo. Warming up with the Lance strength training though. Do you have a turbo trainer?
