Ozzy_Fudd - Joe actually played Psycho Vertigo with Planet Us live on Rockline a few years ago (though the song was just called Vertigo then), when Sammy Hagar was the guest. Here it is:

Planet Us - Vertigo

The Beastie Boys cover is a bit odd on the album, but it's very fun when Sammy does it live (and he starts the song with a bit of Eddie Cochran's Summertime Blues). He's actually done a lot of covers over the years...Otis Redding's (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay, Janis Jopplin's Piece Of My Heart, and the Staples Singers' I'll Take You There. If any of his usual cover songs end up in a Chickenfoot setlist, though, I bet it'll be something like Whole Lotta Love or Rock And Roll from Led Zeppelin. I'd love to be surprised with something else, though...

hybes - DMB is actually ending their summer tour in Tulsa this year...Willie Nelson is opening. The show is Oct. 2...you should try to make it, if you can (and if it hasn't already sold out). Their end-of-the-tour shows are always special. They ended their 2007 tour at the Hollywood Bowl, with guests including John Mayer on a song and Stephen and Ziggy Marley on a cover of Bob Marley's Exodus...it was one of the best shows I've seen.

Drop me an email (you've emailed me before, but my address is in my profile if you need it again) with your mailing address and I'll send you copies of a few DMB live bootlegs.

Back to Satch...I glanced at the Chickenfoot site and can't find the pictures you're talking about. Where are they?

elpp - I've probably mentioned this here before, but I last saw Aerosmith in San Diego in late 2006 (Motley Crue opened). Steven Tyler's in-ear monitors weren't working correctly at the start of the show, and he kept looking off to the side of the stage (yelling at someone to fix them, I guess). He finally just ripped them out and sang -- screamed -- loud enough so he could hear himself over the music without the monitors. Those few songs until his monitors were finally fixed are the best I've ever heard him sing.

I'm sure his voice was shot at the next show on the tour, though. ;-)

scubadaz - Ah, I didn't know there was actually an official release of that festival...I might look for that. Do they have a release for every year of the festival? I ask because Jimmy Page jammed with Aerosmith on Train Kept A Rollin' in 1990...I have an audio bootleg of that show (BBC broadcast, I think), but I don't know that any video exists.

elpp - Greed my friend,..greed. I think a lot of people thought we would just keep riding a wave, record high stocks just kept setting new records. Companies were too profit driven to earn $ for shareholders. Wages did not increase with the rapid rise in the cost of living, and with gasoline prices going to the level they were last year, folks just could not make ends meet. First they were late on a few car notes, then the house and then eventually could not make the payments at all. If you are struggling in making payments, you are not buying new televisions, furniture, new cars. You wore those clothes a little longer than normal. Than decreased demand for those products so many lost their jobs. Just a vicious cycle in a way. When a company makes record profits year after year, they need to pass more of it down to the folks who are turning the wheels. Things just got too far out of balance, and balance is the key.

Farm subsidies are a tough subject in the U.S. We had some descent payments a few years ago but are almost non- existent. A popular website used to run and you could search by county and find my name and see how much government $ I drew. What folks did not realize was that a very large portion of that was commodity loans that had to be paid back within the year. Of the countries who subsidize farmers, we are by far the least. What the world needs to realize is that when all of the family farms are out, then farming becomes corporate and we all know that large corporations WILL make a profit. When agricultural production is in the hands of a few, then they will be able to control the price to guarantee a profit. Then lookout below.

Ozzy fans- remember back when Randy died, I believe it was near the beginning of the Diary of a Madman tour. Brad Gillis of Night Ranger filled in on the rest of the tour. I remember a live broadcast of a show in Memphis that I recorded on cassette. My God man,..If anyone has that out there, let me know, I unfortunately did not keep a copy and completely wore the tape out.

You had Rudy Sarzo on bass with Brad Gillis on guitar, Tommy Aldridge on drums and Tommy is one of my favorite drummers and another I picked up some influence from. They made This album of Black Sabbath material. This is some of the best versions of these songs ever recorded. This album is sometimes difficult to find but if you like Ozzy and Sabbath or if you are younger and not a Sabbath fan, you WILL be after listening to this album. Ozzy was on top of his game during this period, and this 3 piece band was so blended and together. Check this one out.

All you older ones like me remember Black Oak Arkansas ? This was Tommy Aldridge on drums, his first big taste of the big time. Of course he went on to play for Whitesnake, Ozzy, Pat Travers, (remember the killer double bass licks on "Boom Boom, Out Go the Lights"?) He played with a lot of the rockers we all know. He was actually playing for Ted Nugent the last time I saw him. This guy is just awesome.

Black Oak Arkansas was formed by a bunch of guys local to me, led by Jim Dandy, We did a few shows with "Jim Dandy" in the 80s at some local clubs, He was a hoot.

I really enjoyed this tribute by a "Super band" a few years back. God of Thunder

Right, anyone else with a locking trem have problems with unwanted string noise? I do quite a bit at the moment, and you can't just mute the strings like on a normal bridge 'cos that sends them out of pitch. Any thoughts/ideas/advice?

Slanshroom- Yes BOA had already ran it's course at that time. Funny how timing has everything to do with most things.

Igneous- I think if you learn on a floater, you have less problems. It is a tough transition for some. I am an aggressive player and it is forcing me to lighten my touch, which is good but frustrating at times. Don't get discouraged. You will get used to it. At times I think I want to sell my RG , but man I have always wanted to play one of these speed demons and I will adapt.

Hey Joe.

When is The Next time you Coming to New Zealand?? Wish you could come to our Country More. I remember one time Yngwie Malmsteen Came to play at the Power Station In Auckland a Few years back now, Poor Guy.... As soon as he was on stage and started flying all over the fret board like a mad V8 engine some Lunatic threw a beer bottle at his head not once but TWICE!! He got so angry and started swearing and said if it happened again he was F?#Kin of out of here. I dont know why that stupid person did that for but it ended up being a good show. ( Im not saying that would ever happen to you because it wont, Maby it was just Yngwie's Hair that made that gut do that ) Then not long after Maby a few months later Steve Vai Came and man he ROCKED!!!!!!! For Steve to play like that....Imagin what else you have to Offer You are a true Genius Joe and thats something i wish i had. Keep On rocking!!!!

1. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

2. After stopping for a drink at a bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

3. An American teenager was in the hospital yesterday recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

4. A mother took her daughter to the doctor and asked him to give her an examination to determine the cause of her daughter's swollen abdomen. It only took the doctor about 2 seconds to say, "Your daughter is pregnant." The mother turned red with fury and she argued with the doctor that her daughter was a good girl and would never compromise her reputation by having sex with a boy. The doctor faced the window and silently watched the horizon.

The mother became enraged and screamed, "Quit looking out the window! Aren't you paying attention to me?" "Yes, of course I am paying attention ma'am. It's just that the last time this happened, a star appeared in the East, and three wise men came. And I was hoping that they would show up again.

5. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at its intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California, would be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder: He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.

6. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and, after a little hopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company, suspecting negligence, sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine out and lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved.

7. A passenger in a taxi tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him something. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb, and stopped just inches from a large plate glass window.

For a few moments everything was silent in the cab, then the driver said, "Please, don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me." The passenger, who was also frightened, apologized and said he didn't realize that a tap on the shoulder could frighten him so much, to which the driver replied: "I'm sorry, it's really not your fault at all. Today is my first day driving a cab. I have been driving a hearse for the last 25 years!"

A recent magazine survey, interviewed fifty bartenders and they were asked if they could identify a customer's personality on what drinks they ordered? Although interviewed separately, they concurred on almost all counts.

The results:

IF WOMEN DRINK THESE DRINKS IN A PUB (not at home).

BEER
Personality: Casual, low maintenance; down to earth.
Approach: Challenge her to a game of pool.

COCKTAILS OR BLENDER DRINKS WITH UMBRELLA
Personality: Flaky, annoying, dizzy, and a pain in the ass.
Approach: Avoid her, unless you want to be her cabin boy.

MIXED DRINKS - NO UMBRELLAS E.G.; GIN AND TONIC / SCOTCH AND SODA
Personality: Mature, has picky taste; knows what she wants
Approach: If she wants you, she'll send YOU a drink.

WATER
Personality: Pretentious and is looking for a serious relationship.
Approach: Don't.

WINE - (BOTTLED, NOT 4 LITRE CASK)
Personality: Conservative and classy, sophisticated.
Approach: Try and weave Paris and clothing into the conversation.

BACARDI BREEZER, RED SQUARE, ARCHERS COOLER, SMIRNOFF ICE, MUDSHAKE ETC.
Personality: Easy; thinks she is trendy and sophisticated actually has no clue.
Approach: Make her feel smarter than she is... and you're in.

SPIRITS SUCH AS CC, WILD TURKEY, SOUTHERN COMFORT

Personality: Watch out, they are unique! A real mixture of personalities. Love to be laid!
Approach: Talk dirty to them whilst challenging them intellectually - you're in!

CAPE VELVET
Personality: Annoying voice, bit of a tart.
Approach: Stand close and mention the alley next to the pub.

SHOTS AND SLAMMERS (TEQUILA, VODKA, COWBOYS, AFTERSHOCK ETC.)
Personality: Hangs around with male work pals or looking to get drunk.
Approach: Easiest hit in the pub, nothing to do but wait...

SPIRITS SUCH AS JACKS, BEAM & BUNDY
Personality: Enjoys male company more than females, loves to party hard
Approach: Keep buying them drinks, they'll think you're a nice bloke and they are probably trying to work out how to get you to bed!

IF MEN DRINK in a PUB (as always, very simple and clear cut).

CIDER
He's probably under-aged and wants to get laid.

CHEAP DOMESTIC BEER
He's poor / student and wants to get laid.

CASTLE LAGER BEER
He likes good beer and wants to get laid.

IMPORTED BEER
He's old; he likes good beer and wants to get laid.

GUINNESS
The man is a rapist and will get laid one way or another.

WATER
He just threw up and is trying to wash the taste out of his mouth so that he can still get laid

WINE
He's hoping that the wine thing will give him a sophisticated image and help him get laid.

VODKA OR BRANDY
Extremely horny hound, would shag a warm scarf. Desperate to get laid.

PORT
Thinks he's sophisticated, secretly likes men and wants to get laid.

WHISKY/JACK DANIELS
He doesn't give two $hits about anything and will hit anyone who will get in his way of getting laid.

JIM BEAM
Not as masculine as the whisky drinker, knows all about feminine activities (knitting, crochet etc.) to weasel himself into getting laid.

RUM OR TEQUILA
Likes fighting almost as much as getting laid.

BACARDI BREEZER, RED SQUARE, ARCHERS COOLER, SMIRNOFF ICE, ETC
He's gay (blatantly) - don't turn your back or pick up any dropped change.

Satriella, I think I would fall under the category of sip on whatever and emphasize sip, as to not become intoxicated and play the waiting game with any of 'em :-)

And I have heard of idiots really trying to see how close they could get to a passing train. One local boy ripped his arm off trying to touch the train...As we say here in the southern U.S., His sidewalk didn't go all the way to his porch, Or his cheese had slid..or in common terms..not real smart.

Wow I've been away for awhile. Stuffs been really busy here lately. Still trying to find a good local band to do the music for my paranormal group's documentary. Still haven't found one that impresses me and it doesn't help that I'm really just wanting instrumental not that interested in vocals.

Most local bands here do the Blues and that's not quite the way I'm wanting to go. Good thing I still have plenty of time since the music and voice overs are the last things we'll be editing into it.

I wish we had the financial resources to get Joe to do the music for us, that's the type of sound I'm wanting but so far nobody here has been able to pull it off. Oh well I get to keep looking. I've heard some good music though, some of these people do have talent just not the right sound.

Other than that I've been working on a book, and taking care of my cat after she got spayed. She's doing good now. Also trying to maintain sanity cause the kids are getting major cabin fever and the weather here can't quite decide if it wants to be spring or winter.

So that's what I've been doing. I am looking forward to Chickenfoot and hoping they come close to me while on tour.

Drake
