Just got my VIP ticket for the LA show. $251.75. Sheesh. ;)
I thought I was being "smart" not paying the $40 fan club membership to get in on the pre-sale (didn't win access in the contest here) but this morning just seconds after the general on-sale started, all regular tickets were sold out! I assume there were none left after pre-sale. So instead I'm paying an extra $190 give or take, instead of an extra $40. Doh! The early entry better get me a damn good spot near the stage. ;)
I actually haven't been to a "real" concert since 2002 because I needed to start saving money back then, and cutting out $100+ for a few hours entertainment was an easy way to save cash. The only shows I saw in that time were Joe's free CD release parties for ITLIS and Super Colossal. I finally had to make an exception for this incredible opportunity, and boy did I pay for it (with the wife's blessing)! ;) It'll be worth it, though.
I've seen both Joe and Van Halen (including shows with Sammy) over a dozen times each (before the 2002 concert moratorium) so I know this is gonna be incredible. Also a pretty big RHCP fan but I've never seen them live. Can't wait for May 18!

Pip - I've never plugged a 1000 in to compare, but I really doubt the AH1 & AH2 in the 100 would come anywhere close to the Paf Pro & Fred in the 1000. I'm not saying it sounds complete shit, that bits me. I just love the feel of the thing. I don't play well enough to warrant mods. As for the Vai sig. I won the after show pass from Vai's site for the G3-06 tour in Sydney. I was hoping It was going to be a group thing with Vai, Joe and JP. So I took my js100 hoping Joe could sign it. They separated the groups, we went up stairs to a room, waited about 2 minutes and in walks Steve. I couldn't believe it. here's me and Steve Vai standing there talking about how well Joe played that night. In the excitement I completely forgot to get a photo. Doh!

Hooo-lee shit! I can't believe everything sold out so fast! I mean I can, but I can't. I think every venue is will call too, LiveNation only, so no tickets from any other site - and that's the way the band wanted it. Sucks if you buy tickets then can't make the show. You can't even give them to a friend without going to the will-call window to get them yourself. Blame the scalpers who make a profit on somebody elses hard work. I feel so bad for everybody who didn't get a ticket. That really really sucks.
I accidentally got mine a day early. I heard the Chicago pre-sale tix were sold out, so I went on TM to see if a Philly show was listed. Nothing, so I went to the LiveNation site, and it had a BUY thing next to the Philly show and my code was up. I was like huh? I went through the motions to buy my tickets thinking it would not accept the final click to buy them - but it did. I was like wtf?? About 10 minutes after I bought them, I got mail from CF saying there had been a "miscommunication" with the ticket seller, and the tickets are on sale early - go get 'em - which I already had! If I wasn't checking my computer that day after work expecting them to go onsale the next day, Philly presale might have been sold out before I got to it. Wonder how many peeps got screwed on that one?
Anyways - the BIG pictue is - they'll be coming back around in a few months for another kick-ass round HOPEFULLY in a town near you...and Australia....

I'll get over it... I have spent a lot of money lately so I wasn't going to dish out 40 bucks for the pre sale... Even if I had the money, it seems like a lot, it's almost like buying two tickets...

Hi Joe ..... Good to see Blue. I'll be missin' you in Chicago for the Chickenfoot show. Maybe it was me but the email for the presale was sent a day late and looks like this show is sold out. At least I'm a fan club member and looking forward to seeing you when the actual tour starts. Thanks so much for all the great music. Chickenfoot is going to be great and I'm so happy for you as I know you've wanted this for a long time.
Take Care......

Joe - Thanks for the update...any chance you can give us a hint as to what covers you guys will be playing? ;-) I was listening to the first Montrose album yesterday and think it'd be really cool for Chickenfoot to do Space Station #5. It's a bit obscure, yeah, but I'd love to hear what you can do with the rhythm guitar riffs in that song.
Skippygirl - Thanks for the extra info on Time Machine. I think the write-up you mention being on the vinyl sleeves is also in the CD booklet. I don't think I've read it since I bought the album, though, and that was about 10 years ago. I'll have to go find it (I have it sitting "away", as the cover is autographed by Joe) and read it again...
scubadaz - I don't think Chad will ever "leave" the RHCP, but I suspect they might be done as a band as far as recording new music goes. I bet they do something soon (2010?) but I think it'll probably just be a tour.
Joe mentioned in an interview recently that there's a "break" point for Chickenfoot in November or so. If the RHCP are ready to get back together then I guess everyone will do their own thing for a while...but I hope Chickenfoot goes right back into the studio.
This is an odd thing to talk about, but if Chad goes back to the RHCP I wouldn't mind seeing Chickenfoot turn into a band that records with Chad and tours with Jeff Campitelli. I have no idea what kind of chemistry he'd have with Sammy and Mikey, though...
Anyway...what are some of your favorite Hagar-era VH songs?
JDMD - Welcome to the site!
I have similar feelings about Ten Words, but they have to do with different people (no wife and kids for me quite yet, haha)... I'm sure you've heard about Joe's Chickenfoot project, right? What do you think of those new songs we've been able to hear?
michelle - Did you see Van Halen on the 2004 reunion tour with Sammy (just after the BOBW set was released)? Their Sacramento show on that tour is one of my favorite concerts ever.
What are your thoughts on those three VH songs? I like 'em a lot, even though Mikey didn't play on them (Eddie played bass and Steve Lukather sang background vocals). Up For Breakfast has some similarities, lyrically, to Down The Drain.
You mentioned Poundcake...that's not really one of my favorite VH songs, but I think Chickenfoot would do an excellent job with it. I wouldn't mind hearing that one on tour...
satchblues - Welcome to the site! I was at the ITLIS? CD release party that you mentioned, at Tower Records. That was a great little performance. It's awesome to hear that you're into Van Halen...do you like Sammy's solo stuff at all? Any chance you're going to his show in San Diego on 5/5? I am...
Listening to: Van Halen - Learning To See
