Hey guys I'm back. Took a short break from the computer. Been pretty sick the past few days too(throwing up..ugh) If I didn't tell you before, it's settled I'm moving to Seattle. Anybody from the area hit me up some time and Joe if you happen to see this, I hope you come to either Seattle or Portland. It would be nice to see you at white river or the gorge. elpp- Unfortunate happenings in the world economy. You know it's strange how segments of the population never see things like this coming until it hits home. I know most of you don't understand and I wont expect you to, but the American farmer has been in a recession for 5 years and hopefully now we are starting to climb out if fuel prices will stay low. "But just look at all those new tractors they have" Trust me I had rather spend my $ on a killer home studio :-) Maybe things will turn around for us all. I myself am giving support to the current administration to correct this thing. I mean let's face it, If they cannot begin to fix things then the entire world is in trouble,..seriously folks, pray for America whether you agree with current policies or not. Stand together and push for a solution. Let's not forget how we got here and try not to make the same mistakes again.
Skippy Thanks for the links. Rarely it will freeze up enough to drive a vehicle on an ice covered field, now that is fun, 40-50 kph spin in a pickup truck.
Austin- What method would be best for interfacing directly with my computer and which program do I need? I have never done this but would like to. Maybe webcam audio would be clear enough although I have never experimented with one,...Not really a computer guru but would like to be,..just has not been on the priority list. My 2101 is full midi, I am guessing I can buy a midi/USB cable.?.?.? That's why I was asking in earlier posts about PRO TOOLS. I am interested in expanding my knowledge and experimentation. Heck I don't even know how to set up a MY SPACE page..:-) Not that I can't learn, I just haven't made time.Any suggestions from any T2Jers are welcome.
Randall- interesting music. I had to listen a few times but I think I like Wolves love best,...My little bro was always into the underground make it on your own kinda thing even though his dad is famous and is respected by everyone from Clapton to the Stones and could break him in to the biz, he just does not adhere to commercialism.?.? He is very talented though and is similar to you guys in taste.

This morning I was finally able to listen to "If I Could Fly" without thinking about the controversy of a few months ago. The song has such a beautiful Spring-time feel to it.

T2Jers- My quest for affordable home recording continues. Will This do anything I need to record my own music? I understand from reading numerous threads that I will get the best results from a mic on the cabinet as opposed to direct from my GSP 2101.
Does this thing have drum kits built in? Can I create my own drum tracks directly from this? And if I eventually add a set of Roland TD 20s, can I easily separate each drum pad to different channels? And from what I understand about it you can add thousands of tracks to the mix and use the ones you want. Correct? I mean I looked at a TASCAM US 224 but will spend close to half the $ on that and still not have near the capabilities of this set.
I appreciate any feedback from anyone who knows anything at all about home recording.later more coffee burly

start off with audacity if you dont know too much about comps or recording stuff, its free simple and provide the basics
then move into sometihng like cool edit pro.adobe audition, cubase or what not, pro tools is great but i wouldnt really recomend it as the first recording program to try and get my head around, but it is nice to have i guess... i just hate its awkwardness
for example you'll get an ilok usb dongle with the mxbox that you need to have pluged in the computer for using pro tools on it, it contains data that lets you use the software, so you register at the dongles company site.. the digidesign site, and transfare the data across, the mbox only uses usb 1 for some bizare reason too and only one program at a time can use the mbox as a soundcard... + make sure your computer matches the specs, pro tools wont work without the necessary requerments, i believe theres intel and amd chipsets that wont work with it, so get ready for some errors!
other than that once it gets goinf its ifne, but its awful for system resources... i have this ...theres a few other packages that are much better value and get you going up and running faster

I don't know anything at all about recording, other than walking into a studio and plunking down the cash,..did that in the 80s. Problem is that's too expensive and by the time I pay studio musicians...well ya know. I want something simple I can lay down tracks to when the mood strikes me and modify as I go. I don't really have a lot of time to devote with the day job:-) and not good enough to make a living at it. But I dearly love to play and have some good ideas I would like to put on a recording.
With a program like Audacity I will need an interface like some sort of compatible multi- track right?
Maybe I should make an offer on Weiners computer I bet that's a trick unit with a lot of goodies already installed,. I know it says it has been cleaned with Leopard installed but I wonder how clean?
Thanks guys..anyone else have ideas?
