Kudos to Canada for outsmarting and routing the pirates. Canada along with the Netherlands uses common sense and common humanity to foil pirates and neutralize the aggression and brutal attacks. Check out BBC and Guardian.

What a special neighbor the US has!!

Thanks brothers and sisters!

CANADA EEHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Hey Joe, nice to hear you're doing Highway Star. One of my fav Deep Purple ones that...Oh and a great vid featuring you as well courtesy of michelle :)
Just done a 9 mile sponsored walk for the Teenage Cancer Trust. We raised about £83 just from people we walked past, not bad eh? Hoping to raise over £2000 overall (that's with the rest of the college Medical Club).

Hey Cube my daughter just got back from a few days in the peg at a conference for high schools. Were you at "the legislature" yesterday for the honouring of international pot day??? My daughter sez even the passersby and innocent bystanders were flying high from all of the pot fumes in the air... Sounds like fun.

This'll probably be my last post here for a few days...my grandma on my mom's side passed away two nights ago, so tomorrow I'm flying to St. Louis for her funeral later in the week.

That means I'll miss out on the Jeff Beck show in San Francisco, but I checked Ticketmaster and found a ticket to his show in LA tonight...so I'll still get to see him.

I'm going to see Spinal Tap/Unwigged and Unplugged on Sunday, which will probably happen before I'm back to posting here. So I guess you guys will have two show reviews to read upon my return...haha.

Skippygirl - I haven't yet figured out what I'm going to do. For the short term I'll probably find a website somewhere so I can write stuff, even if I don't get paid for it. I have enough money to get through a few months, so I'm not too worried...not yet, anyway. ;-)
Brumaker - Hi...welcome to the site!

Austin, sorry about yer gremmy.

Scubz, why such a harsh stance on druggies? Some of the best people on this Earth have had a battle with the beast and have come through it. Live and learn. You should save that hate for child molesters, rapists, elder abusers, and the like.

scubz, understandable. I've had my own traumas in the past with that. Happy to say that the one particular person in my life who was the worst has been clean and sober for about 20 years. Happier now than ever I might add. Just blessed to have a happy ending to that one. They're paying the price with health probs, but at least their head is on straight.

I gotta say...in the work that I do....that I see the price people pay just about every day with a new case....brain fried by alcohol &/or drug use. It's so freakin sad. And so preventable.

The few times I've seen people beat these addictions...it's always the biggest victory. But most of the time they are just lost in all ways. I usually meet them after it's way too late. And the cost is more than monetary. What price can you possibly put on the heart and soul of a family watching a loved one travel down such a destructive path.

Sorry to hear about your grandmothers passing Austin- Crank KSHE for us while your in St. Louis.

They were wondering what to do with the pirates caught in international waters,..international waters?...?... Make 'em walk the plank!...Just kidding but it does make you wonder.

Final dress rehearsal this afternoon for "Starburst" the talent showcase at the school Thursday and Friday night. Some pretty good talent locally.

Good night y'all.

Good night Joe, tell the guys we said hello.

Austin--Sorry to hear about your loss....I hope you have lots of good memories of your granny and some favorite pictures.

Michelle and T--My maternal grandfather was poisoned by alcohol addiction and tried for many years to go off cold turkey. He had little success. His illness caused him great personal anguish.......he said and did things he later regretted. Sadly the last few years of his life were spent in a wheelchair after he had a stroke. His speech and mobility were greatly impaired and his wife (my granny) had to take care of him around the clock including feeding him his meals and bathing him. He was a stern and sometimes surly dad toward his daughter (my mom) and his son (my uncle). My uncle has been pretty much a hermit most of his life and my mom didn't show me a lot of physical affection. She just did what was necessary to keep me bathed, fed and clothed--fussed about my feet and had dramatic moments at times. She said her father hated the Irish and she doesn't know why to this day--very weird and disturbing if ya ask me. My dad was the one who was demonstrative in affection and gave me lots of lap time when I was small. He tried his best to explain what happened with my mom's upbringing and how her only companions or friends were the chickens raised in her parents backyard for eggs and meat. 1920s & 1930s thrift small chicken farms and subsistence gardens with squash, tomatoes, onions and beans were signs of the times.

I was aware of a deep sorrow while growing up that I just couldn't place or understand until I learned about me mom's background. Then there is me dad's background with a mom driven to work, work, work and earn a living because of a failed first marriage! Her second marriage to a generous Englishman helped give them a son---me dad!

Life is full of adventure--that's for sure. Challenging when beset by anger, fear, depression.......takes all of one's inner resources to lift one's face to the sky---"Heads up" as Steve Vai says and "Just Look Up" as Joe Satriani tells us in his sonic poem. Steve Morse's "Heightened Awareness" is helpful and hopeful as well.

GoldenCali-Milli
