Mornin' everyone.

Blue_Moon---Hiya! Are ya gonna go to Zappa Plays Zappa?

Michelle--Thanks for your info on the Pagoda area. I didn't know the neighborhood below the landmark was crimeridden. So sad. I hope law enforcement can gain a foothold there. When tax bases are weaked or destroyed (and people's trust is shredded) law enforcement and education suffer because they don't get sufficient funding.

Tracie---Yes. It appears summer has arrived or something like it. It was up in the 80s the last 2 days! Today it is overcast and thunderstorms are predicted. Weird weather, yes! Cali SF Bay area has a lot of microclimates---coastal valleys, mountains, hills and coast/marine. Something for everyone!

Coffee time.

Joe--Have you noticed how influential the album Crystal Planet is? The "Love Thing" got to me on my first listen and Secret Prayer, Train of Angels, and ZZs Song all resonate with me and take me to a higher, better state of mind. I'm glad to hear that other people in this forum enjoy Crystal Planet and it's great collection of instrumentals. Great music, Joe. Thank you. Please give us some blue words---your thoughts.

scubadaz - Yeah, it was a bit weird how Edge didn't know how to work anything. Then again, if he really does use a different guitar for each song (as he would with a production as big as U2's), I can see how he wouldn't understand the presets that his tech has set up.

I think the bit of him talking about the sustainer nails the fact that he's not a virtuoso and doesn't want to be. If Satch or Vai were giving that interview they'd say 'this guitar is fitted with a sustainer" and that'd be the end of it, but Edge tried to come up with a dumbed-down definition of what it actually does just sounded odd.

Ozzy_Fudd - Man, that band picture with Joe is hilarious! I had never seen it before...thanks for sharing.
Tostado - Glad to hear you're doing OK. :-)

BEER BY SEVEN YEAR OLDS

A handful of 7 year old children were asked 'What they thought of beer'. Some interesting responses, but the last one is especially touching.

'I think beer must be good. My dad says the more beer he drinks the prettier my mom gets.' --Tim, 7 years old

'Beer makes my dad sleepy and we get to watch what we want on television when he is asleep, so beer is nice. ' --Mellanie, 7 years old

'My Mom and Dad both like beer. My Mom gets funny when she drinks it and takes her top off at parties, but Dad doesn't think this is very funny.' --Grady, 7 years old

''My Mom and Dad talk funny when they drink beer and the more they drink the more they give kisses to each other, which is a good thing.' --Toby, 7 years old

'My Dad gets funny on beer. He is funny.. He also wets his pants sometimes, so he shouldn't have too much. --Sarah, 7 years old

'My Dad loves beer. The more he drinks, the better he dances. One time he danced right into the pool.' --Lilly, 7 years old

'I don't like beer very much. Every time Dad drinks it, he burns the sausages on the barbecue and they taste disgusting.' --Ethan, 7 years old

'I give Dad's beer to the dog and he goes to sleep.' --Shirley, 7 years old

'My Mom drinks beer and she says silly things and picks on my father. Whenever she drinks beer she yells at Dad and tells him to go bury his bone down the street again, but that doesn't make any sense.' --Jack, 7 years

Hello Let me tell you that I admire you as a musician and teacher, because I do not hear you "directly", because I listen your great disciples first, and I am fascinated by all (Kirk Hammett, Marty Friedman, Larry Lalonde, Tom Morello, among others) and more later I discovered your music, I remember that the first song I hear of you was midnight and I was impressed, so then I know all your songs, all your album So I wanted to see if you could answer me, saying if you still teach because I love to be like you. I `m Tomas From Argentina, And my e-mail is tomas_ks22@hotmail.com With love Tomas

Al, every once in a while when I read yer posts they make me sit back in my chair and say... "Dude."

Maybe ya need to give in to the powers of the Irish M????

Cube, I like other Jeff Beck tunes, but I think that performance sucked. Guess I just didn't get it. lol! Mahavishnu used the work "honked". That describes it perfectly. lol!

Burly, I don't think I knew that was SRV in those songs. Bowie looks silly with that guitar and the gloves.

Mille, to many criminals, not enough cops.

Tostado, my son had a right inguinal hernia and had surgery when he was only 10 months old. He's 17 now and has had no problems. Good luck in yer recovery!

Didn't I read a long time ago that none of the members of U2 could actually read music? That would also explain why Edge knows very little about his presets. And having watched a couple of their shows, he uses a different guitar about every other song.

Hello all. planted some rice today.I feel better.

Yeah,..now that you go back and listen to Let's Dance and China Girl you say,..wow what a great guitar sound.. I knew I liked something about it. And he barely got credit for it.

I wept when SRV died, and mourned for nearly a month,..It was as I had lost a dear friend.. and I never met the man. My family thought I had lost my mind. I could imagine him in a G3....What if?..He had been clean and sober for nearly 2 years, and was just really blossoming with creativity.

My little brother got to meet him in 89 while he was on tour with his dad on the Benson and Hedges tour. He played the Memphis in May festival in 1990 ( He was killed in August) and I couldn't go because I was busy in the field :-(

I wish all of you well but I must sleep now. God bless.

burly.....The day I heard Stevie passed is etched in my mind forever. He is the basis of everything that comes out of my fingers and onto the guitar to this day. I will forever be learning new things but I will always drift back to that foundation from which it all began. It still hurts to remember his death.
