There is only ONE Joe Satriani!! He has become one with his guitars like no other person alive......Facebook, myspace, youtube and all the rest can't change our genius Joe Satriani! He is walking the road of Mozart, Beethovan, Stravinsky, Bach, Schubert, Brahms, Handel and Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Brian May, Jeff Beck...and on and on in the 21st century with his "closet" of electric guitars and 21st century pedals.....just the way guitar music was meant to develop and progress!

GG2, thanks, but no need to roll any red carpet out, unless it's for the band. My son and I have been to San Fran quite a few times now and I have figured out my navigation...been to both The Fillmore and The Warfield more than once, so we're good. We just enjoy hangin with our peeps, waiting for the show. Hope you and your husband have a good time, but it's Chickenfoot, how could anyone have anything but a great time!
Unless other people try to ruin it.....that happens, like people who are too drunk to know their own name and they are falling and slobbering all over u.....gawd, I hate when that happens!
dream3...Jamie....has anyone responded to your request for a Chickenfoot poster yet? If not, and you want me to, I'll see if the merch booth has them for sale and could pick one up for you...email me if u still need help. I don't overcharge either, lol! Just the price of the poster plus the costs of mailing is all :)
Austin, I had to leave before they played any of the guys' music or a Chickenfoot tune, so I also didn't get a chance to call in on the free tickets....did you hear them play "Oh Yeah"? That's the song they would play, I'm assuming...and did you try to win tickets? Anyway, if you need more, hope you score on the public sale today...log in EARLY and BUY IMMEDIATELY, lol!! I know you know that :) And derrrr, my bad, I thought Jeff Beck was last Thursday so okay....you and Brian are good and can report the end of THIS week, lol!!
Oh, and yer question on the acoustic version of "Rubina's Blue Sky Happiness".....dang, I know I posted a link to that before and where it came from...hafta do some digging...I think it was for a radio show but not totally sure yet....I love the version. That song in any form just makes me happy too...and my name isn't even Rubina :)
Dang, now that's gonna bug me till I find it......
Edit, my bad, it was actually gruskada who posted the link on t2j back in 2007, from the foreverjoe.com media page....a lady comes on at the end of it and says "Joe Satriani, recorded live acoustically for "Off The Record".
But I guess I was part of it after all, lol....I have the cd of the interview show and had sent it to Sam at foreverjoe to put up on his site....it was dated Nov 1992 and the entire interview is up on the media page....I guess it's from there. Hafta go back and listen to the whole interview. It's a good one! And yep, that song is in the beginning of part 3 of that 3 part interview.

This post is 7 years late, but I guess it's not the first time I've been behind. I was trying to create a ringtone out of Summer Song, but discovered I have to buy it from iTunes rather than use the version from any of my Satch CDs that have it. I figured it was worth $0.99, so I searched iTunes and discovered that Brad Gillis had covered it in 2002.
Of course, Brad and Joe have very different styles, but I like both, so I downloaded it. It clearly wasn't Joe, it was Brad. He did some cool stuff and lacked some of Joe's cool stuff.
So, what does anyone else think of it?
I'm particularly interested to find out if Joe has heard it and hear his opinion.

that cover of summer song is on a rare satch/vai cd called lords of karma a tribute to satriani and vai
i picked it up in a weird cd store in london a few years ago, neil zaza covers friends and does an amazing job... the other satch covers are average at best, vai ones are questionable, george lynch covers shy boy... interesting cd

Austin, mornin' hon! lol! I have no idea who or what that acoustic version of RBSH is, but I must say, the vibrations in the bass rattle inside my skull nicely this morning. lol! As for those VH songs, I'd have to listen to them again. I was cleaning and moving from room to room, mostly thinking "Why don't I know this song?" lol! They didn't grab me as instantly kick ass tunes I needed to pay more attention to, so maybe that says something? I'll have to give them another listen. Unfortunately, I've never seen VH live. Would have loved to though.
Just watched the Chickenfoot live in Vegas 'Rock & Roll' vid. Our little Joey is gonna be a true blue rock star till this is all said and done. lmao!!
Can you imagine how much fun this has to be for Joe? Having a singer to take all the lead parts he usually has to play on guitar must be so liberating. I hope these guys are having the time of their lives! They all deserve it!
iggy, thanks for the Thorogood. lol!
Of all days, my husband wants to do yard work. lol! We bought stone border things for around the roses. That calls for some trench digging, which calls for strength, which I have none of at the moment. lmao!
Jayzus, do I know how to have fun or what? lol!

scubadaz - When I saw Sammy Hagar last summer he actually brought Billy Duffy out to jam on a few songs. They didn't do Loud, but Sammy talked about it (he said they hadn't rehearsed it yet, or something)...he played lead on Rock Candy and another song or two also, I think.
cheese101 - Thanks for the extra info on that version of RBSH.
cosmic_ape - Yeah I think you're right, it does sound like just a clean acoustic guitar. The file name is the same as it was when I downloaded it years ago (I think I've had it longer than what Tracie mentioned, but I really don't remember). Anyway...
michelle - Those songs don't really hold their own against any older VH, but I like them because it was just nice to hear new music from the band. They did sound pretty good live, though, I remember that (especially Up For Breakfast). They had dropped Learning To See by the time I saw the tour, which was a bit of a bummer...but they replaced it with Seventh Seal, one of my favorite VH songs. So it worked out just fine.
...Austin...

Mr. McKenna--I'm wondering if those words may be a small section of "McKenna's Law". Ya know if there's a Murphy's Law, I was thinkin' there could very will be a McKenna's Law that is not so well known as Murphy's. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The Irish continue to puzzle and fasinate me as do the dutch!
You always have choices, man!

So today I went to see a soccer game here in town, over 20,000 in attendance waiting for the game to begin, and lo and behold Crowd Chant started blaring out of the speakers. It is such an obvious choice for a sporting event, but it's the first time they have used it for the soccer games here, it was a cool moment. I recorded a vid while it was playing, I'll try to put it up on the Tube for all to see. Later!!

Randel- Just got my Digitech Jam Man . bought it from Dave Weiner ( off his web sale). It's cool. It really is helping me already on improvising. It's been years since I played guitar with accompaniment.( being a drummer) You will love your Jam looper...

Hey Joe- I saw you play your harmonica with a hands free harmonica holder. It looked like it was attached to your microphone stand. Where did you find that and where can I get one? I have been looking everywhere. It's tough playing bass and harmonica at the same time. The over the shoulder holders just don't cut it. Any info. would be greatly appreciated from anyone! Thanks!!!

Sapanaro, welcome to the forum! If you look closely, it seems that JOE has a little device that holds the harmonica, but the gizmo itself is attached to the mic with tape... It looks like it's something either JOE or his tech MacGyvered... I had the exact same question years ago and I never got an answer...
Perhaps this is an alternative you might be interested in... Or you can buy the regular neck holder from Jim Dunlop, that one looks easier to disassemble and maybe "tweak" to get it to fit around a microphone...
...just a thought...
